    Last year we bought some servers with 6 core cpu's
    The. SQL 2012 came out with per core licensing
    I did some quick math and its cheaper to buy new servers with 4 core cpu's than license SQL 2012 for 12 cores per server

    on windows vmware has a utility that copies your physical installation to a virtual one. even sets it as the same computer account so you don't need to drop and add it to the domain. don't need any install media.

    nothing like that for unix

    old graphics
    same games
    dumb tablet controller idea
    no ios/android remote control app support

    i have an x-box, PS3 and apple TV with ipad 2 and 2 iphone 5's in the house. gaming the x-box and iphones are my favorite. the A6 CPU is right about the xbox 360 level as well and i can take it everywhere i go and the games are CHEAP

    those shows aren't any worse than the dumb sitcoms i used to watch in the 80's

    Family Ties, Different Strokes, One Day at a Time and lots of others. Friends was the peak of dumb sitcom and that's considered art now

    kids watch shows their parents think are dumb
    kids grow up and these shows become art because the people making the decisions on what art is used to consume that media
    the kids' kids watch new shows that the grown ups think are dumb
    repeat every generation

    same with music. my mother swore Ozzy and metal was a passing fad. and all the crap i used to listen to as a kid is now considered art

    Afghanistan has something like $4 TRILLION of minerals with lots of those rare earths. the russians discovered them first but we are going to get them.

    its not an accident we got out of Iraq and are still in Afghanistan

    i'm sure all these corporations that are on XP will start putting in PO's to buy MS Office on RT and upgrade their regular office suites for $300 a user just to get MS Office on a mobile device

    there doesn't have to be one, but what does RT bring to the table? Android has lots of apps. why buy RT over Android?

    because if im going to spend $500 or more do i buy the product that has sold 100 million units and has lots of software and developer support? or do i buy the new one that doesn't seem to have a feature to make it better, has almost no developer support and may be killed off in a few months like the HP tablet

    there has to be at least one reason to buy it

    iOS does Exchange ActiveSync email,
    you can develop your own enterprise apps for it
    lots of other corporate apps in the app store

    long ago cars were sort of open and then things went to a vertical system where the manufacturer designs and manufactures the car with self made parts or custom made parts.

    computers are going the same way.

    most of us have better things to do than some of the nonsense in this article. $7.99 for netflix is a nice deal for what you get.

    the two major parties cover all issues across the political spectrum with minor differences between them. there are city and rural democrats. there are northeastern republicans as well as rural republicans.

    americans are not libertarians. lots of us like paying taxes for services. i know people paying $20,000 and more in property taxes for good schools
    Ralph Nader and the Greens with their crazy socialist and union agenda has no chance either

    the far right learned their lesson with Perot and now has the Tea Party to push their agenda

    the US government is designed for deadlock and political deals. the times when the government acts too fast we get the Patriot Act and Sarbanes Oxley

    say you want to refresh a page. you scroll down just a bit, let your finger off the screen and the data/text bounces back and forth a bit like a rubber band

    just a few digital couch potatoes who do nothing but listen to music all day or watch netflix or some other media are whining.

    ios and android both have lots of offline options to sync via wifi and not use data. its the same OCD couch potatoes that seem to think that streaming is somehow cooler or better

    and steve jobs correctly predicted that computers will go the way cars did back in the early 1900's. from what were essentially open parts to a fully vertical system where one company either makes most of the components or designs and manufactures the whole product.

    MS's problem was that the OEM's never tried to put out a decent product

    MS has been doing mobile devices since the late 1990's trying to make a unified OS.

    apple got lucky with the price of mobile components dropping to reasonable levels and the fact that samsung and others started to make touch screens
