No the finder is compiled with gcc, but I the only prove I have is that the name mangling in the Finder is that of gcc 2.95.2 which just proves that the name mangling is the same.
PowerPlant Framework has been compiled with gcc by Apple also. None of the kernel is compiled with metrowerk's because the kernel uses gcc extensions and can be compiled for x86.
Yes it is the most used compiler, because it is the most portable. You can use it on Solaris, HPUX, AIX, Linux, all the BSD's, Hurd, Mac OS X (Darwin), and Cgywin, and also VMS, yes VMS (don't know if it usable). You can use it to cross compile to a lot of different processors. You even can make a gcc on a cross compiler. It compiles to rs6000(ppc and power), x86, ia64, x68-64, criss, alpha, sparc, aparc64 and others.
It can compile C, C++, Objective-C, Ada, and on some Java®.
if I had any mod points, I would mod this down, if they had read apache's website they would have found this: Why the name "Apache"?
A cute name which stuck. Apache is "A PAtCHy server". It was based on some existing code and a series of "patch files".
For many developers it is also a reverent connotation to the Native American Indian tribe of Apache, well-known for their superior skills in warfare strategy and inexhaustible endurance. For more information on the Apache Nation, we suggest searching Google, Northernlight, or AllTheWeb.
The serial part will work on macs with serial ports, in fact that was the only way to access the OF for the longest time on a mac because, the OF drivers for the video card sucked.
Part of 1 is not entirely true: multiple binaries, no they will not have to produce multiple binaries, mach-o binaries can be fat binaries, back in the next days, people were releasing a binary with 4 archs: m68k, i386, ppa, and sparc.
There is a small problem with 3.1 and 3.1.1 which is going to be release in about a week, it has c++ abi that is compatible with 3.2's, which will be released in about one week, a few days after 3.1.1. look at http://gcc.gnu.org/develop.html for more information.
I think M$ could not live without OLE, and they did not know how to use PBX (new Project Builder), so they had to use PEF and some mach-o code for shared memory instead of going full mach-o and have a little program that was used when ran in classic saying it required Mac OS X. A lot of Mac apps did this for the PPC transition, why could M$ do this for Mac OS X transition?
This has been that way since QuickTime 2.2. You need a program to do it, make your own, it is pretty easy since quicktime is not just a program but also an api.
Get a Mac and try using Objective-C with PBX and IB. woops, Chess is already done and been opensourced because it depends on GNU Chess. Which is the best chess program out there. It even beats the world leader in chess.
You might want to try to port it to GNUStep. Here is the link to it http://developer.apple.com/darwin/projects/misc/
There are lots of clones of break-out. Anyway that would belong under the Apple section because it is totally Apple's history, even though it was made before Apple was formed.
but in the thread it talks about a prior art, the main writer of OpenBSD's PF mentioned a prior art: http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=openbsd-misc&m=102 665630513591&w=2
This is not entirely true. Out of the 12 people who have blanket write privs. 8 are from redhat, but out of the about 2364 recent changes to gcc, less halve of the changes were made by redhat people. Most of the changes by non-redhat people have been major changes to gcc. Redhat for generic simd support which is pretty cool but it still needs some work. The cpp (the c pre-processor) has been bumped up. The new
gcc takes about 2 hours w/o the test suite but with it takes about 6 hours. Now that is bad but then again it is running the test suite which is large.
because they published how to crack the free upgrade CD's of 10.1, that is why they were blacklisted. If you forgot about that then you do not follow the mac world that much.
Of course this can be done. The Atrai used a TV for its monitor. Apple provides on all their laptops an s-video out and even some of their desktops. I have a 17" Samsung (SyncMaster 170MP) flat screen TV/monitor that I use on my PowerBook TI.
I was making a statement that the government was catering to a known company that likes to break laws of this country. Look I would like to play the game but since I am a Mac user I cannot.

Actually the end-user can remove it if they like, but they cannot distribute Linux without it. This is like the tags on furniture and pillows.

It will no repeat will not connect to the PC version.
It is the precurser to the WinModems.
Number 1: Bolo
Number 2: Apple Events (PPC) over TCP/IP.

MacBU needs more people, unless they start to use cocoa, then they need less, look at the OmniGroup for about how many people you need for cocoa apps.

Even they claimed it supported on apple's front page, it is gone now.
This was in QuickTime 2.2

Halo was almost done for the Mac and PC until M$ bought Bungie, Bungie showed a demo at MacWorld before being bought by M$.

Since NewWorld Mac's (iMac and newer), the Macs have actually been CHRP machines.
