GAH! That doens't mean that they will personally come to your room and force you to swing it around! It just means that they are looking forward to swinging it around. Nobody forces anyone to do any kind of swinging for four hours at a time!

And as for the 20 year old games, remember the Virtual Console that everyone says is so awesome when at the same time they say, "why would I want to play PS1 games on the PS3"

I've never heard anyone say that. And even if I had, it's not my opinion.

And nobody will have to. You can play the Wii with small gestures. No swinging required. Again, what's your point?

They should keep that crazy Miyamoto away from the controller designers, designing acontroller with a new Zelda/mario in mind does not make it a good controller for games that are not Zelda/Mario

Thrice's the charm, I guess. That controller was definitely not made with Mario and Zelda games in mind. Well, maybe the fishing games in Zelda, but other than that... So, again, and for the last time: What's your point?

You can thank Sony and Microsoft for that. With the Xbox and the PS3 so expensive, there's not a whole lot of reason for Nintendo to go too low with the price. Besides, if the price is too low compared to the competition, customers will perceive it as being "cheap" and thus not worthy of their attention. Anyway, it's not going to matter. Nintendo will sell a shitload of these at US$250. They would sell a shitload at US$350, I guess. I know I'll buy one as soon as I can.

And since they bundle a game (I'd have bought the Sports game if it wasn't bundled), it's not a bad deal anyway.

  19. It could make sense to limit supply on IBM Announces Wii Chips In Nintendo Hands · · Score: 1
It would make no sense for either company to limit supply when they would sell out even if they could provide twice as many units.

Actually, regardless of whether Sony or Microsoft did or will do this, it could make sense to do it. By creating an artificial scarcity, you're doing two things:

    1. Increasing the perceived worth of the item you're selling (less supply at the same level of demand)
    2. Showing people that a lot of other people think the PS3 is worth it - so much people, in fact, that they can't produce enough to satisfy demand

If you do that early enough, people will remember that for the rest of the life of the console. Most people still think the PS2 is better than the Gamecube. Why? Because Sony made sure to keep the perceived worth of the PS2 as high as possible.

Sure, the icons in the Dock are inconsistent with the icons, say, on your Desktop. But at least they're consistent within the Dock. The Windows task bar itself contains at least four different kinds of icons which all look the same, but behave totally different.

Yeah, but Windows and Mac OS X have advantages. But if you're seriously claiming that Windows can be seen as more consistent than the Mac, then you should know that this has got nothing to do with reality. Maybe you're used to Windows. Doesn't make it consistent. Just makes you somebody who is used to Windows' inconsistencies.

This whole episode is just insane. If Macs are vulnerable out of the box, why not say so (especially if you're "waiting for an patch from Apple")? If they aren't, why implying that they are?

It's entirely possible that Macs are vulnerable. Macs aren't magically secure and save from bugs. The issue with this whole thing isn't that Mac users believe that Macs can't possibly be hacked. The issue is that the people who ostensibly found the security problem don't seem to be capable of telling us what the heck they actually found and whether Macs are vulnerable, instead making vague accusations and implying stuff without giving any specifics or even a demonstration.
