If what you want to do with
the *data* on this external drive is copy to/from the other
three platforms, then maybe having a Knoppix CD
(or homegrown) that can mount your external
drive (XFS), plus can mount any of the other
filesystem types needed, and can transfer the data.
At this time, AFAIK, only the NTFS writing is
not considered safe. But it may be soon.
In other words, look at the problem from
a tools perspective, not a filesystem perspective.
Spot on. In this case, just like any other database
recovery,
due to pressures, this recovery effort is about
getting back to a known safe state in
as quickly a timeframe as possible.
Then, you verify and verify and verify until
you are convinced that you have done everything
possible within a reasonable timeframe (months?)
before you trust it.
For those not from the Mainframe world,
a S0C1 is an abend code meaning 'Operation Exception'. That means the program attempted
to perform an operation which is not legal.
Effective today, 2003-08-07, you (SCO) now owe me $1,000,000 per day because you (SCO) are giving me a headache.
You are using my IP (the right to be stupid) without License. If you agree to my Headache License (only $1,000,000 per year),
you will save major bucks that will go to
your bottom line!
Note: The penalties will be
waived for each day that you (SCO) don't
stir up any FUD.
Note: If you die soon, I will consider
waiving all penalties and License fees.
While I agree that it should be IBM doing this,
it actually may be better in the long run that
it is *not* IBM as it keeps the
legal arguments cleaner this way.
Well, I'd rather have SuSE owned by a German
company these days than be owned by a U.S. company
that could then be influenced by the U.S. courts,
and/or U.S. Congress.
Actually, it's $36 per PC for the *combo* of XP + Office.
"This is your butt on Microsoft. Any questions?"
That should be CDs (plural), one for each platform.
In other words, look at the problem from a tools perspective, not a filesystem perspective.
BTW, how do you know that it has *not* occurred?
Then, you verify and verify and verify until you are convinced that you have done everything possible within a reasonable timeframe (months?) before you trust it.
Sorry.
maybe.
Damn, that sucks!
SCO is S0C1

s/long profited/generated revenue/
LOL. So, are you saying to try again at, say, just for hypothetical purposes, 2003-08-11 16:30 GMT?
It's just too soon to tell. Yes, it could be a positive in terms of GPL, but the FUD machine is still rolling along, and that is a huge negative.
Unfortunately, some judges watch CNBC.
Pot, meet Kettle.
Exactly. And indirectly supported by the Department of Homeland Security no less.
Tea? Tea? We don't need no steenk'n tea!

Hope to hear from you soon!
Have a Nice Day!
While you do have a great point, the new SCO license does not prohibit such bashing.
That would be a waste of good lead.
Fine, then MS can pay the license fees for me since MS put me out of work!
Seriously, I couldn't it afford it even if I wanted to pay, which I don't, and never will. They can pry my last euro out of my cold dead hands.
Cablevision may, in its sole discretion, change, modify, add or remove portions of this Agreement at any time.
So, they did.
Actually, in terms of fairness, why 35 minutes? Just because a TCP connection lasts 35+ minutes does *not* mean bandwidth is being wasted.
While I agree that it should be IBM doing this, it actually may be better in the long run that it is *not* IBM as it keeps the legal arguments cleaner this way.
So, it was actually 2 Pentiums then!
That should be 10^-15 seconds, not 10-15 seconds.
Good point. Sun working with SuSE may actually be a good strategic move if IBM is thinking of buying SUN.
