    If what you want to do with the *data* on this external drive is copy to/from the other three platforms, then maybe having a Knoppix CD (or homegrown) that can mount your external drive (XFS), plus can mount any of the other filesystem types needed, and can transfer the data. At this time, AFAIK, only the NTFS writing is not considered safe. But it may be soon.

    In other words, look at the problem from a tools perspective, not a filesystem perspective.

    Spot on. In this case, just like any other database recovery, due to pressures, this recovery effort is about getting back to a known safe state in as quickly a timeframe as possible.

    Then, you verify and verify and verify until you are convinced that you have done everything possible within a reasonable timeframe (months?) before you trust it.

    For those not from the Mainframe world, a S0C1 is an abend code meaning 'Operation Exception'. That means the program attempted to perform an operation which is not legal.

    It's just too soon to tell. Yes, it could be a positive in terms of GPL, but the FUD machine is still rolling along, and that is a huge negative.

    You are using my IP (the right to be stupid) without License. If you agree to my Headache License (only $1,000,000 per year), you will save major bucks that will go to your bottom line!

    Note: The penalties will be waived for each day that you (SCO) don't stir up any FUD.

    Note: If you die soon, I will consider waiving all penalties and License fees.

    So, they did.

    Actually, in terms of fairness, why 35 minutes? Just because a TCP connection lasts 35+ minutes does *not* mean bandwidth is being wasted.

    While I agree that it should be IBM doing this, it actually may be better in the long run that it is *not* IBM as it keeps the legal arguments cleaner this way.

    Well, I'd rather have SuSE owned by a German company these days than be owned by a U.S. company that could then be influenced by the U.S. courts, and/or U.S. Congress.
