I disagree, somewhat. It is important to have programmers in a QA environment, but I find that it's just as important to have complete computer morons in there too.
As a developer, I inherently know what NOT to do. A computer moron doesn't know these things, and will use it like the end user will. An experienced programmer will use my programs like I will, and will usually get the tough errors back to me. A computer moron will get the obscure ones back, and it tends to be those errors which make it through to the end user.
Only under GWBush's administration would something like this come out. But I guess that's OK, If it were Clinton the thing would have to have disco lighting and astroturf in back.
I've generally found that smarter people have a strong tendancy to be more anti-social. And when you look at what "average" people gather to socialize over, you know why.
It's funny. Lately I've been seeing newspapers printing the top 10 or 50 energy consumers in their area. In Florida, the Tampa Tribune printed the top 10 water consumers. I wonder how long it'll be before our energy supplies are rationed to us like meat in Iraq.
Just wait, one day you won't have to worry about turning the air conditioner off because it's getting cold. The gubment will have already done it for you.
You think I'm wrong. watch and see.
I wouldn't mind cutting the Gov's salaries, but it wouldn't fix the problem. Most candidates for public office are already worth money without the job. The reason candidates tend to run is for the power, not the money.
If a company is willing to pay for your training, you have a natural responsibility to stay with that company. Let's face it, it's only right. The length of your tenure is up to you.
What I've seen work very well is making the employees sign a contract that forbids them to use their new skills at another location for X amount of months. On top of that, the company needs to increase the employee's pay to a level that is competative with the market.
I can't get to sleep, and hit/. to read and try to get drowsy.
Let me get this straight though, basically what they're saying is that, "If you can't sleep, you will be wasted the next day". I hate to say this, but DUH.
The stages of a democracy, this has happened to every major democratic republic since the beginning of time, from the Greeks to the USA.

The largest reason that the PC market grew was because of Y2k. Businesses and large corporations bought most of the new PC's over the past few years, because of possible concerns. Since Y2k is over, they're not buying anymore.
As far as the general public is concerned, most people are using the computers they've been using since 96-97, it's a lot harder to sell a family a computer, than a company.
Actually, years ago, I used to work for AT&T long distance. AT&T due to its multiple divestitures is prohibited from slamming people. MCI, Sprint and the other long distance companies are allowed to slam you.
Another practice all of them use are contests to trick you into using their service. Sometimes if you enter a raffle, or a contest, the fine print tells you that by entering, you agree to use X company's long distance service. Technically it's not slamming, but it's still unethical.
I would call the attorney general, just because, a complaint is a complaint. You may have signed up for AT&T without knowing it though.
I went from Time Warner/Roadrunner cable to Verizon's ADSL service down here in Tampa. It's been great. I got the modem in less than a week, and haven't experienced any problems with it so far.
I run a shoutcast server and webserver on it as well, even with both of those boxes going, My wife 's and my computer both get good speed (through a hub). The roadrunner service blew down here. I spent 3 months running at less than 33.6 on it, so i guess anything was better than that.
It amazes me that people continuously complain about large corporations, but never get as enraged about big government.
Large corporations serve the lowest common denominator; ie: the people that don't know any better. If you don't like what a company is doing, don't utilize the services of that company. Go to someone smaller, and local to your community.
The same goes for government. Gas prices too high?
Blame the gov. Clinton & Gore are the ones who asked OPEC to raise gas prices in order to help Russia. The oil companies aren't raising prices. Look at how much money you give to the government. How much control the federal government has. Until people start paying attention to what's happening in their own communities, no solution will ever be reached.
I choose to use small businesses to recieve my products and services, not major corporations, who provide bland products and services. I choose to know who my local government officials are, and wish the feds would self destruct. We don't need them... they need us.
Since this thing sings songs, does that mean that the RIAA will start requiring royalty fees?
If you subscribe to /. you'll be able to ignore articles which has as high of a who gives a fsck level as this one.
