1) Minimum wage has been planned to make an increase for at least the last year, if not two or more. Personally I do not agree with it but whatever, off topic.
You know I used to agree with the whole minimum wage being unnecessary or even bad thing. But honestly a compromise needs to be reached on the whole issue. Agreed that no minimum wage would help people get jobs they otherwise wouldn't have, and possibly help people learn a new skill in a job that later maybe they can move on to a better job. But the sad reality is, when times get tough people will often literally sell themselves into slavery, we see it with many alien workers, Hispanic and Asian, coming here as indentured servants only to live as slaves. Personally I think as a society we should have moved past that... With modern technology an individual can produce way more than he will consume (given minimum surviving consumption obviously). The people who reap the rewards of this increased production are the owners every time... But I also agree that people who want to work for less than minimum wage, be it a teenager just getting their first job or someone wanting to learn a new skill yet not volunteer to work for free, compromises should be made. But that's something we need to figure out. Wholesale abandonment of our principals of treating people with dignity on the other hand we should not be so quick to compromise on.
Nope, nobody expects and company to voluntarly do anything. What we do expect is either, government properly regulating a monopoly and forcing it to provide quality service, or government encouraging competition in the industry. Local and Federal governments are doing the opposite of both of these.
Why don't they just UPGRADE THE PIPES. My god every other first world country has huge bandwidth where these types of things aren't even a consideration. Yet comcast just whines because you can't run everything and be fair on tiny pipes.
Technically its the same server and software that was on whitehouse.gov yesterday under the Bush Administration. Like the Defense Secretary, keeping the stuff that works and would be a hassle to change around for right now.
Are you sure this is real? Simply knowing someone who abuses drugs should not fail you. This is either a false story or a really badly designed test. Many good people know people with drug problems.
While most techs can manually remove a virus technically most computers with one virus have tons and often there are viruses you don't even know about. In reality if you want to be sure a computer is clean a reinstall and bios flash is the only totally guaranteed fix and yet some viruses can get past that.
Are you insane. You can't run several mile long cable to each and every house the main access pipes would physically be full after just a few hundred houses. Then what do you do? Well Joe's home movie office could install routers at all major intersections, but after a few dozen companies move in the routers would fill up the intersections.. Well Joe and a few others could share... Then others want to share and then one day a cable breaks and everyone is pointing fingers at everyone else to fix it so they decide everyone should pay Joe a greater monthly access fee and let Joe fix it. Soon Joe has quit his business and runs Joe's telecom.
Anonymous status reports.. WTF. Was reading the other day about a development house that has the programmers fill out time sheets and status reports but that these reports are specifically not used by managers and can not be used for punishment. They are used to generate cost and time estimates, what works, what doesn't etc etc. The group that handles these reports are independent and not the managers. They know that the second reports can be used for punishment or rewards most of the data will become fake and totally usable for statistical purposes.
Apparently nobody bothered reading the article. The device is coupled with the cellphone and is provided by the cellphone company. It doesn't jam the phone it simply tells the phone not to make or receive calls. It does allow 911 calls.
Kids nowadays are all into social networking. Why not a web language. Sure you probably can't teach them how to code their own blog, but coding their application in a web language would give them something they can easily show their friends. Of course there is the danger of them posting inappropriate material, but I'm sure that could be dealt with.
Hopefully its simply that a plain unsmiling face is the best baseline for the stored face, at that point alterations such as glasses or facial expressions can be recognized against the baseline face. HOPEFULLY. Otherwise, YES, FAIL..
Sadly at the current state this is kinda like old windows NT permission. More of a suggestion to your already trusted user set. If your putting this out for untrusted users to access directly you need something more secure. MySQL is production ready but in only certain ways.
If you allow your users direct access to SQL and rely on SQL permissions you probably shouldn't. Most MySQL setups have no way of allowing untrusted users to run SQL directly so they can't run a drop table statement. So yes, if your letting complete strangers run SQL on your database you might want to look somewhere else.
In other words, war is rarely a fist beating exercise like some sport. In is carried out in order to gain control of a population or something that the opposing group wouldn't give up without losing their lives first.. Silly I know, but some people hold value to their country that they would be willing to fight for it. Sadly we rarely respect the lives of our opposing forces enough to not try to take their stuff.
Sure two opposing forces will use robots if they have them, but once those are depleted they aren't likely to just rollover and let the opposing army take them as slaves or whatever. Just as they wouldn't give up after the opposing force has broken down some wall or something.
Put up a jar next to the coffee pot with a sign that says "Coffee $0.25". If he still doesn't pay put up a sign that says "Our coffee fund is empty. Donations would be helpful" For a few days and see what happens.
Were we work we have a ton of snacks and coffee laid out, people on the honor system drop a quarter for each item, and that money goes to buying more snacks. Though that won't work everywhere.

I'd agree with you on the tax issue, if it was true. There are sadly few tax benefits for getting married. Heck I paid several hundred dollars in taxes extra when I got married that I wouldn't have had to pay had we be able to file as two singles living together.
On the other issue, let me put it to you in a way you can understand.
I have relatives who lived in Georgie. When it became apparent that their son, who was approaching school age, would be taught in school a *mandatory curriculum* promoting interracial marriage as normal and giving these "couples" as examples of what families are, they decided to move. In Europe, major inroads have been made in curtailing the freedom of speech to fit the will of the their agenda (cf the Åke Green case) and many similar things are happening here in America.
Note that generally when the racial equality agenda has made progress, it has not been through democratic processes or the rule of law. Instead it happens when people like Mayor Newsom flout the law, when corrupt courts take sovereignty out of the hands of the people and decide to make their own legislation, etc. Behind it all you can see the powerful racial special-interest groups and how they've had a vastly disproportionate power over American politics for decades. Returning power to the people and bringing communities and states liberty and self-responsibility is definitely worth fighting for.

Its not just "no supporting gay rights" While a majority might not support gay rights, Card takes it to the extreme that he believes its important enough that he would be willing to wage physical war to keep gays from getting married. Thats a special kind of nuts.
Yep, I think we've fully realized this with the current economic situation. Take advantage of the stupid for too long and for too much, it will eventually crumble sectors of the economy. The economy has to have a decent % of stupid people spending money frequently to remain solvent. They spend it too fast and get in debt and stop spending it, the whole game stops.
No, securerom is a resident program on your computer, I should also not have to get permissions to install more than a few times. Spores limit of one account as well is ridiculous. I will not buy another game with securerom ever.
The free internet frequency is in a much lower frequency. Lower frequencies are stronger but carry less information than higher frequencies, think about big waves versus tiny ripples in a pond. Those tiny ripples can rid atop the big waves but can also be knocked out by them if they aren't smooth. Radio is very different but its a decent analogy.
Whats sad about all this, is it never ever ever will get on green, If every single terrorist in the world was wiped out, it might, might get down to Blue, but I doubt it. Personally I'm shocked to find its at yellow.
