Ok just for the uninformed, this is a ethernet hub, powered by either sucking power form a usb, or from ps/2 through a splitter cable for the keyboard. (The ps/2 cable appears to be sold extra) Lowest price I've seen is http://www.mypccity.com/proddetail.asp?linenumber= 819#1 for 39.99 49.99 most other places, though its hard to find, couldn't find on pricewatch, but google for SW-005CM gave me a few hits.
Did you read the question at all? He likes to start impromptu lan parties at bars and parks and stuff, outside. This pretty much means laptop. And that the places he goes there are frequently other people with laptops that want to join in, so he needs something more than a crossover cable!

Same identical drive? And they were putting the old platters into a new harddrive and putting that back into the system (effectivly not changing the platters but the casing/electronics?). This could theoretically work if you did it in a very clean room, and the problem was the in the HD electronics/mechanics, and not the platters. But honestly that is simply insane, take it to someone to recover the data.
Just a quick random thought, its perfectly legal to give someone a copy of something that they already own right? Hows this for a buisness model. You send me your scratched cd or dvd *proving* that you owned the original. And I send back to you 1 a burned copy and a certificate (this certificate is so you can prove you owned the original incase you scratch the copy I sold to you) I charge you say 5 buck for this service or something cheap. Would that be legal or would I be bitch slapped aka napster style for "making money off someone elses copywrite" Even though I'm not violating any copyright, I am simply providing a backup/recovery system.
No, the last 2 betas used IE, though the previous did use Gecko. So they are definatly tossing it around. But bets are that they will use IE (with a possible non default choice of gecko during install) for 8.0 and have gecko be the default in 9.0 (while being switchable to IE) Its basically a story of they want to switch to gecko, but they are very scared of having millions of users calling complaining that they can't use their bank website, or something else of importance. While it wouldn't be AOLs fault that the bank didn't fix the problem yet, it would still be egg on AOLs face. So they are treading with great causion.
Actually the article states he was highered to give different points of view and to challege management. So he was simply doing his job. Obviously the new management didn't exactly like paying someone to insult them.
Water is denser than a lot of rocks. Either way check your calculations again. Not sure if I have a complete grasp on how man joules that 10^40 is, but 10^32 is the daily output of the sun. I have a hardtime beliving it would require more than this. Were you perhaps looking at the need for the 2 halfs to be accelerated instananiously or was it acceleration over time of the blast. Don't know if that makes a difference. Just think somethings gotta be wrong.
Have you looked at the mod scene latly. Almost all mods are released for free, and many are released opensourced, more would if there was encouragement. So the problem really is the engine, and engines are expensive to develop. But then again, mods can be expensive to develop too. If you look around though will will find many 3d engines of the past GPLd just no modern engine. Because really?? whats the drive. You spend years creating your GPLd 3d engine, and carmack release a commercial one that blows yours out of the water. So why bother? I'm sure there is a way to get out of this lock. But personally as games are a luxery and not an essential there isn't as much of an itch to scratch and why bother?
Generally if your getting less than 20fps on a game its highly recommended you decrease the resolution and or rendering options. You'll find it to be a much better experience.

A Judge is too important to be working on only one case at a time, but I'm sure time isn't being wasted. Obviously there comes times when her thinking leads to the need for research. This research is surredly done by others working for her and gets read by her which may present furthur needs for research. Sending the research team out again. Also the individual states and microsoft are given time to research their own things and send her any briefs they might find relivent. Sure if eveyone involved with the case spent all day everyday on this case it would be done faster, but sometimes its best to take your time on these matters.
Maybe it is an exact barrier. Probably where the gravity of the sun is exactly canceled out by the combined gravity of all the other stars. Obviously it would be a very jagged circle around the sun, but most likly something we define by looking at comets and such and say to ourselves, "Hmm once it passes this point nomatter how slow its going at the far end of its orbit, it will not come back unless it stops before this line."
The current thought is to design the cable so that incase it does break it should crumble into many pieces and mostly burn up in the atmosphere with just the last 10 miles or so actually falling, which would be an ultra thin cable hitting the ocean (plans are to have it be in the middle of the ocean for obvious reasons) So yes, probably small tidal wave from this cable, but nothing catostrophic and huge meteor shower, but nothing catostrophic if done properly.
Well I'm sure it would just be a matter of dropping some of the rendering options. One thing though I read that doomIII is not going to support sound acceleration hardware in the pc, while the xbox version will (could be because its not standardized enough on the pc or something I don't know)

I know and you know that it would be completly impossible for government to go open source only, atleast for now. We need to do this is baby steps. What we should be preaching is open formats, then we can work on open source. Government has a responcibility that its public records can be read by anyone. And that its private records can be read at a later date. Push open formats, thats what government really needs. Nothing illogical about its requirement, and it will open to door to competition and open source in government IT purchases.
Geez, supporting DRM and forcing DRM are 2 seperate things, It will play your mp3s but you can also copy your DRM content from your computer (which won't let you copy it to non DRM devices) But I digress.
