Wow. For those who didn't read this apparently a small current is sent through your chair so that the table can recognize who is touching it and can accept many touches at the same time. Thus allowing for multiple users in a game like warcraft or any number of other purposes. I want one.. Now..
Your argument of course is missing any facts that would lead someone to conclude you are write and he is wrong. Paul Graham has an interesting idea, but realistically he is missing two big points. In a phyiscal invention the gears and levels are easy to take apart to see how they work. This is one reason patents (which are basically copyrights for physical things) are nessesary, as reverse engineering is easy in the physical world. In the computer world copyright and keeping your source secure, is effectivly your assurance that someone won't simply rip off your idea. Though I can think of a few things that could have been nonobvious and easily copyable in the early days of computing. Spreadsheets come to mind. I'm glad these wern't patent, as we innovation would have halted for many years in the database world.
Oh so your saying I should have turned down the thermostat... Opps Sorry!:) Wondered why I was paying such a huge bill. Dad always warned me.. SON CLOSE THAT GD DOOR, Your causing global warming.!!:)
(Ok OK that was just silly of me). But in all seriousness I agree it is a lot of energy though just a fraction of what is collected by the sun every hour.
sharpness of the current teperature increase Sharpness, I'm sorry yes I agree that there is a temperature increase, but you can't call a world wide average of 1 degree "sharp". Hell by some methods after canceling out urban effect (concrete areas having more heat yadayadayada) your looking at a.2 increase. I'm not saying its not happening, but sharp isn't the world for it.
Ok, you know you'd be up in arms. Stop denying it... Either way you have to admit this is one more step towards a totalitarianism. And I'm even one of those right wing nuts (actually more of a right wing sympathizer though I have a lot of libertarian nuttyness too) and I think this is overboard.
No there is not an "expectation" of privacy. We know it can be looked at when the data is unencrypted. BUT while we all know there is no expectation of privacy when we mail a postcard, what would you think if the the Post Office started photocopying every single postcard and sending them to the feds????
I wonder, how long will it take for our government to realize that most of us take our rights pretty damn seriously, as they are the major reason why so many people like living here?
Sorry the major reason so many people are living here are the amount of jobs and openness to capitalism.. AKA the 'American Dream". Now of course an over controlling government will eventually destroy this, but the average person doesn't worry about their freedoms, even though these freedoms are the main reason that American is so successful today.
Well they did "offer" a payment plan, one that would have the entire balance paid in a year. Most college students can't afford to drop 3K in a year. Its possible that you could settle and it would then be sent to a collection agency whom you can set a more reasonable payment plan with. But its also possible that they will file further legal threats if you don't pay on time. Anyone here had any experience with them??
I think it depends upon the bulk you buy your points in but from what I've heard they are around a penny to a penny and a half. So your looking at around $2-$3 depending upon who you bought your points.
Especially if it was used to replace the income tax. Except the government doesn't want to REDUCE its income so it would take steps to encourage pollution, thereby more taxes! (of course it would have to be covert about these steps)
HU? If everyone could reduce 15% of their power usage we could shut down almost every coal burning plant in existance. 15% is alot (though I agree it will happen when pigs fly)
While I generally agree with the climatatic cycle theorys. There is an enourmous increase in CO2 which should definatly cause some global warming. Whats interesting is that according to many climatlogist we actually should be in a natural cooling cycle right now, but we are not. Probalby becasue of the CO2. Is this horribly dangerious? probably not.
Good catch. Also note lowering wages by $5 an hour is also rediculus. Most people would quit over anymore than a $1 an hour lowering. Even $1 would be a lot. So lets say we did lower wages by $1 an hour for 100,000 workers thats $1*40*52 (for the average fulltime worker). Thats a savings of 2080 per person. or 208 milliiioooon dollars (pinky touching mouth). Though realistically there arn't many 100,000 worker companies, and few would risk having that many employees quit simutaniously.
Don't confuse the incompetence of the current party in power with the idea that government is neccessarily incompetent. That's exactly what they want you to do anyways. HAHAHA spoon feed much? You havn't delt with many local governments have you. Generally local governments run by the left are wasteful and mismanaged, local governments on the right are.. well wasteful, mismanaged (though by a slightly less degree), and overly authoritarian. Sure there are exceptions on both sides in many districts. But the exeptions are rare. A good government only exist when its people care enough to get involved. The people are too seperated at the federal level, and in general Americans don't care enough anyways. You will never see an effective federal government again. Atleast not until the next revolution.. in which you will be the first against the wall!:)
Good point, I'm simply saying its a good idea. Not that I can personally implement it. I'm sure there are a ton of ways to encourage.xxx being used exclusivly for serving of pornographic content. PR is one of them, many porn sites started requiring id confirmations long ago, simply because they wanted to atleast appear not to be catering to minors. Sure you can't make all of them submit, but its not impossible.
While true there are a handful of people in this world that could take down the entire internet singlehandedly. They won't do it but they could. The potential does exist that oneday one of these guys will either lose their mind or somehow be forced into terrorism does exist. Though what does it tell you about these terrorist or people who do these things in general that the people who are smart enough to cause the most damage generally don't. Alas one could abduct a nuclear scientist and achieve the same result couldn't they??
X as I said is more for general computing. Possibly a minimalist version of it thats intended to run inside the browser window, as the current technology is way too bandwidth heavy. I guess a little "less" interactivity would help, 1. Let the client( do some of the lifting for simple scripted interactions. 2. Don't feed every mouse movement to the server unless it is specifically requested. 3. Don't call the client the server and the server the client, its confusing! (yes it made sence in the old unix model where you are already connected via SSH and you were then running a connection BACK to your desktop, obviously if this protocol is adapted for the web the terminology will definatly need to be changed)

Trust me I got enough of the real world seeing goatse guy years ago. I wanted nothing more to do with this "real world" after that point in time.

Damn you.. Damn you to all enternity. I had never heard nor seen tubgirl until just now. Damn you all.
True, but if you create the GUI you can switch the kernel out from under the rug without many people noticing.. If you get my point..

its not like i will be able to take my n64 cartridge and stick it into my revolution
No but you can take your gamecube game and stick it in the revolution. Also PS3 will not run all PS games, the PS2 didn't run ALL PS games.
i do think the revolution looks pretty killer though. its just not quite as revolutionary as you make it sound.
Well apparently they is something important that they will announce at this E3.

Generally the 5th member stays intack, you may or may not have feeling in this extremity, but as it operates on hormons and blood it still works.
Then the fun comes of sifting through your backups to figure out if THEY are also comprimised! :)

And you are definatly sure this is caused by global warming. Because old growth forest just never dissapear.. Nope, doesn't happen! :)

Sorry I didn't mean to say it was wrong, just that if it was adapted for the web it would have to be switched.
