You havn't checked out the big unions latly have you? But seriously whenever people band together to protect themselves they form a government of a kind. Its just that as a government or union or corperation gets larger it generally gets out of the hands of the individual and becomes an entity in itself.. Your cells were once individuals life forms that banded together for protection. They do stand a better chance of survival even now, but you don't give a damn about them and would gladly throw a good percentage of them to the wolves to save yourself. Your government would do the same, though statistically you stand a better chance of survival with them than you would in an anarchist society.
Thats because TV stations make money through commericals. BBC does not play commericals, thus the need for a tax. So the exact comparison would be Americans pay taxes through commericals, and higher prices on products we buy.
Not nessesarily, you really could split congress into those who listen to big fat checks, those who are interested in popularity and listen to those who scream loud enough (and then you have ones like dean who do the screaming themselves). I could name on one hand the congress critters who "seem" to actually do their job (actually I couldn't only names that come to mind are Obama and McCain, but there are a few others I'm sure (both of which I sometimes question still)).
Just because the US goverment is the most corrupt in the world, doesn't mean that it doesn't work fine in other countries. Troll much? But seriously you havn't traveled much have you?
The internet is more like a road, yes there are libraries on this road, as well as banks and commerce sites. I completly agree that the government should stay out of libraries, though it has to regulate banking and commerce to fight fraud. The argument is concerning regulation of the roads. Should we stop traffic and check who is riding and what you are carrying, we can generally agree no. Should the road builders be able to setup toll bridges on roads already constructed generally not. Should a private company be able to build express ways they charge extra for?? This is the debate... I don't know the answer but its not so clear to say the government has no place.
To all you libertarians who think government shouldn't regulate the banks or commerce either if it didn't people would just group together to form a "union" and pay dues to that union this union would then write laws and enforce those laws to attempt to protect its members.. Do you know what we call this...?? Government...
But its not a simple black and white issue. Obviously without a lot of the anti-discrimination laws we would still be living in the 50 in terms of civil rights. At the same time there is some evidence that currently some of "equal opportunity" regulations are creating problems of injustice which breads hate. Obviously one could argue that race is sorta like religion you can demand that government doesn't favor one over the other, but you can't force them to get along.
The only social progress in the last few hundred years has been to hide problems better - almost everything else has been technological.
Are you serious? Last time I checked public lynchings were definatly on the decline. Though I do agree that technical ability to communicate has drastically decreased common manors in communications have gone down drastically. Is there as way out of the semingly inverse relationship to social grace and technology? I doupt it.
More importantly they SPENT the 8 million dollars extra that they probably didn't make the previous year, then say they have to layoff people to correct the problem. In a small town 8 million extra in a year would be big news.
Sorry I wasn't trying to imply that volcanos are creating our current problems simply that there have been times in the past (even possibly during human existance) when volcanic activity was rampant and changed the climate drastically the life still survived, though its no garentee that human life with survive but hopefully like the rest of nature we will be forced to evolve (not via evolution but through changing our habits). As I said hopefully sooner than later.
As a slightly right leaning (economically) non partisan I do have to point out that this does show its not too late or even overly threatening. Quick fact that average volcano spews more polution in an eruption than LA does in a year. This doesn't mean that the current problem is not man made, but what it does show is that the earth has been handling periods of excessive emissions for millions of years, and that if we get a handle on our emissions things will fix itself. In all honestly the current system is natural, because believe it or not we are part of nature, and like the rest of nature when the consequences of our actions start to cause negative effects we evolve new ways of doing things. I just hope we do in the next 50 years, but the earth will survive, and probably the human race will to.
Depends upon the job your going for. Farming gold shows that you will do tiring repetative grudge work. But it also shows you will do just about anything for money not for the love of the job.
The free account doesn't offer you the ability to program objects outside of a small sandbox, if you want to be able to sell your programmed objects your going to have to pay. Though I guess you could be a party planner.. thought that really requires a virtual office which means you must own land, which means you must pay. But one could do a lot of planning and programming in the free version before paying.
Exactly, or atleast something concernig virtual world programming or virtual party planning, or whathaveyou. No body is going to look down upon you when you put down that you made 80K a year doing this.
If these lenses can change optics on the fly, wouldn't it be possible with some extra controll mechanisms to be able to optically zoom as well, that would really rock.
Their software isn't so transpart that they can just switch back and forth at will, the recent intel switch broke a lot of software. Lucikly Intel has stiff competition in the desktop market, so its not going to sit on its duff while others innovate ahead. I'd bet that before IBM even produces their 5Ghz chip Intel or AMD will have a chip just as fast.
Its just generally a bad idea to give someone your bank account routing number and account number, they could easily use that info to withdrawl money from your bank as well. SOME banks offer a special account number for incoming money that doesn't work for outgoing money, or even will setup temporary numbers for one time transactions. Mine won't.
I once had a buyer who was an ideolog concerning paypal, but he also wanted it shipped ASAP. He suggested wiring the money and I was like NOO I'm not giving you my bank info, you can either paypal or western union wire it to me. After getting hit with a huge fee from Western Union he said.. maybe I should reconsider this paypal thing:)
Well as a Tech I don't care about these people either, but it would be a nice job, traveling around the world, possibly making contacts with techs in the recording industry, definatly not a job to sneeze at.
Meaning?? You don't have the right to fling that old unusable copy of T2 at the media execs head?

Why not just charge a per person fee? Its not like someone is going to be watching TV on the computer and the tube at the same time.

Except these people tend to be louder and more vocal, and a good percent of the US congress and senate pander to them on a daily basis.

Obviously safty systems could exist, infact these could dim bright lights and reduce glare if properly programed.

His thought is that a PCI-X slot can barly send 1Gb so the talk about 100Gb is silly. Of course these 100Gb connections arn't for mortals anyways.
Simple blink codes could work, but I'd hate to be driving and accidently blink a code..

I guess, I'm not not giving this info to some anonymous person over the internet.. Thats all.
