  1. It would be a public relations nightmare... on Measles Resurgent Due To Fear of Vaccination · · Score: 1

But I think there needs to be serious discussion into taking children away from parents who refuse to get them vaccinated.

Endangering your own child is bad enough, but when you start affecting the herd immunity of everyone else because of your scientific ignorance, something needs to be done.

  2. I'm fairly surprised at the early responses. on Time Warner Shutting Off Austin Accounts For Heavy Usage · · Score: 5, Insightful

One would think being sold all you can eat service, then having it cut off for using it would be seen as universally crappy.

  3. Re:Sometimes, they can be alright on Publishers Detail Specific In-Game Ad Plans For Future Games · · Score: 1

That's my line of thought, too. I don't mind ads in games as long as it's in line with what you'd see in a real world situation. If my squad members in an FPS suddenly break into chatter about how they love Pepsi, that's bad. But if I shoot a fridge and there's, among other things, a Pepsi in it, that's good. I would like to see a drop of $10-$15 in the price of the game, though. If they're going to be making revenue off me perpetually, fine, but pass some savings on to me.

I think there's a significant portion of gamers who feel San Andreas is the peak of the series so far. GTA4 certainly doesn't have as many fun activities for myself, anyway.

Seems like it's pretty easy to get a new serial key, guy. Easier than dealing with the default spyware installation procedure, really. What a dumb thing to say.

  10. Re:"What functionality needs to be added": on Nintendo's GCNext Direction Outlined By Iwata · · Score: 1

That would be a good idea, if the Gamecube controllers weren't the devil. The c-stick sucks, the d-pad is too small, the buttons are laid out and shaped poorly, and there should really be another shoulder button to keep the poor little z-button company. And the really mind-boggling thing, to me, is that no 3rd party has just released a Dual Shock clone for the system to fix Nintendo's horrible, horrible mistakes.

  11. Re:X-box accessories for PC on Xbox Emulator Plays Retail Game · · Score: 5, Informative

The Xbox controller is essentially a USB device with a fruity plug. All it takes to get it running on PC is either cutting the end off and splicing on a male USB end or buying a 5-6 dollar adaptor that hooks into where the break is in the controller cord, plus appropriate drivers.

I can see 2 shift keys if you were to split the space bar into three keys, the middle one would be space and the two on the sides would serve as shift. Then you could feasiblely move the ins, del, home, end, pgup, pgdn keys to where the shifts had been. The space left from them could be used for the keypad minus all the plus, minus, etc. keys since they'd be in fairly close range anyway.

  16. The Amazon summary on Gaiman's American Gods Book Tour · · Score: 1

"The storm was coming... For the three years Shadow spent in prison, he kept his head down and did his time. All he wanted was to get back to the loving arms of his wife, and to stay out of trouble for the rest of his life. But days before his scheduled release, his wife was killed in an accident, and his world became a colder place. On the plane home to the funeral, Shadow meets a grizzled man who calls himself Mr. Wednesday, a self-declared grifter and rogue, who offers Shadow a job. And Shadow, a man with nothing to lose, accepts. But working for Wednesday is not without its price, and Shadow soon learns that his role in Wednesday's schemes will be far more dangerous than he could have ever imagined. Entangled in a world of secrets and age-old mysteries, Shadow encounters, among others, the murderous Czernobog, the impish Mr. Nancy, and the beautiful Easter--all of whom seem to know more about Shadow than he himself knows. Shadow will learn that the past does not die, that everyone, including his dead wife, had secrets, and that the stakes are higher than anyone could have imagined. A storm is coming, and Shadow and Wednesday will soon be swept up into a brutal and epic conflict. For beneath the placid surface of everyday life a war is being fought--and the prize is the very soul of America. American Gods is a dark and kaleidoscopic journey deep into myth and across an America at once eerily familiar and utterly alien. Magnificently told, American Gods is a work of literary magic that will haunt the reader far beyond the final page."
