"For many years, studies have suggested that two parents of high intelligence tend to produce children of average intelligence."
And two parents of average intelligence would tend to produce children of average intelligence. Likewise, two parents of low intelligence would tend to produce children of average intelligence. There may be slight leans toward the upper or lower ranges of the intelligence spectrum, but there won't be any sweeping genetic relation between parental and child intelligence. You might have a few outliers, but on the whole you'll always end up with average intelligence as the average result.
Hehe, he actually does try to take roles with artistic merit every once in a while for what it's worth. Even when playing the Buddha in "Little Bhudda" though, he still seemed to be in the character of Bill. I think that probably would've been the case in the movie he was in recently that Raimi made (sorry, forgot the name, some psychic murder-mystery), but he didn't talk much if at all - not much of an opportunity to say "woah."
I think that if your post is germaine to its parent, it can hardly be deemed off topic. This has happened to me once or twice and is fairly annoying. People have message subjects for a purpose. If you read the first message of a thread and it is off-topic, obviously the rest will be off-topic as well, so if the digression doesn't interest you please fuck off. People have moderation points and want to use them all without the possibility of negative metamoderation so they search for all off-topic posts. What I really don't get is all the blatent karma whoring in general. I post off-topic as much as I do on, rarely get highly rated posts, but somehow I'm consistently at 50 karma. Really, it isn't a challenge. I don't see why everyone doesn't post at +2. I guess it helps not to have too polarized a community by allowing, say, a 150 karma level or something with a +3 bonus (clearly it'd be way to easy to make your comments seem more authorative with that bonus), but I see no reason why I should have a +2 bonus with the amount of effort I contribute to slashdot, especially given the moderation I've received. Feel free to moderate this post into oblivion to help me feel less guilty:)
I know, it was an attempt at an off-colored joke. The Japanese do have one of the lowest crime rates in the world though, so maybe the release-of-aggression-through-hyper-violent-video- games-and-animated-child-pornography thing really works. Then again, their high suicide rate muddies the issue a bit.
This was part of the Operation Bandwidth, correct? Perhaps the EPA set up a computer on their network as a honeypot and then the FBI distributed information on how to use the computer claiming to be an EPA employee or something who had secretly opened the computer up as a public courier server. Seems like a clever idea. The pirates would think they were mooching off of huge government bandwidth - plus you know the thrill that kids get off "hacking" government computers.
That wasn't a kill-your-tv rant - just a leave tv stars in their own domain rant. I'll admit that celebrity can be an asset for promotion and whatnot (who else in australia could've gotten such a hairbrain plan so far anyway?), but the person I replied to suggested that Steve be put in charge. People place too much faith in what they see on TV. I can guarantee you that real experts go over Steve's narration rants, otherwise his quasi-improvised banter might be a bit more insightful than, "Crikey, he's a swift one!" And Hawking does have several incredibly worthwhile television programs for what it's worth.
OK, I'm gonna troll the hell out of this. Insightful? What? Going on the advice of a TV animal expert is an insightful suggestion? Should I call Jack Hannah the next time one of my dogs comes down with some trouble? I'm sorry, but I'm sure there are environmental experts with more intelligence and a tad less goofiness than the Crocodile Hunter. I mean, crikey, what are you thinking? The only shit he knows is how to risk life an limb to look like a fool on TV. Maybe I'm wrong and he is an expert zoologist, but even if that's the case I'm absolutely that there are several hundred people more qualified for this job than Steve.
Lame VBR produces an encoding of an entirely different caliber. Go to r3mix.net and read about it before you bash it eh? The file sizes are equivilent to 160kbps rips while the sound is indistinguishable from CD. I don't know what encoder Apple liscensed, but I doubt their VBR quality can match LAME's since Apple will undoubtedly make as fast an encoder as possible to show off the power of their machines, sacrificing quality in the process. Now, I can break out MusicMatch Jukebox or some tripe like that and kick out 12x VBR encodes, but I'm not exactly going to do that when I'm storing my CD collection for posterity now, am I?
Yeah. But if you try to encode with a decent encoder and VBR scheme (the r3mix.net Lame method for example), you'll find that you won't be able to encode terribly quickly. With a 650 duron overclocked to the neighborhood of 750, I get about 1-1.5x encoding depending on the song. Also, you should try ripping from the CD with a secure method to avoid getting data errors. Yeah, I'm anal, but it's worth it.
Check out this review of the honda insight - http://www.arstechnica.com/reviews/3q00/honda/insi ght-1.html... the guy modded the car and replaced the side mirrors with ccd cameras linked to displays to the sides of the stearing wheel. They also mounted a windmill to charge the battery:)

Frankly, I don't see how this is possible. As an 'IT', it is neither male nor female and is thus not capable of homosexual activity.
Judging by the shear number of Ginger-related posts on slashdot during the time of the leak, I definitely have to think that something is afoot. This is just way too obvious of a slashdot type story.
You're right. I really expected Slashdot to report on this a couple days ago when everyone else did. It makes me wonder if VA is somehow invested in the enterprise and thus not allowed to comment publically. We'll all see Monday morning though. Check out theitquestion.com and ginger-chat.com for more info (the latter has a good video of the GMA Friday teaser piece). I really thought there'd be a whole lot of buzz around this through the weekend, but I guess we'll have to wait till Monday.
Hmmm... satire and trolling aren't restricted from occupying the same space now, are they? It might be a genius troll, but it's still a troll, genius. Don't the clever among us get a chance to manipulate as well?
Tony Hawk 3 is compatible with a bunch of USB ethernet adapters (check out the review at ps2.ign.com... I think they listed them there). I'm not sure whether this is a feature of the ps2 or if it's due to work by the team that created tony hawk 2 though. It seems sensical for sony to make a USB ethernet add on though... I can't see where else it'd plug in.
Getting a VGA adaptor and a monitor kind of negates the idea of a cheap solution though now, doesn't it? Also, I'm not talking so much about the bluriness, as with my Dreamcast on most TVs I can read just fine. I'm referring more to the general resolution of the thing - very, very low. Sega makes their pages small for this reason, but you have to pan around most pages to read everything as a majority of tablesets won't fit in the horizontal resolution... I don't know exactly what it is, but I'd wager that it's at or below 640 pixels. Not a problem with highly text-based work, but it gets to be an issue.
ADSL runs into a problem when you factor in the lack of a cheap ethernet setup for the dreamcast. Sega sold very few of these and those in existance go for a whole lot of cash. In your situation though, you might be able to get some sympathy somewhere. Contact companies that developed dreamcast games and sega itself and see if you can get the ethernet adaptors donated since obviously, given the lack of dreamcast development, they're not in use anymore. If you can get the adaptors, then you're in business and you're just a hub or three away from an easy connection. I think if I were in your situation I'd get one of the consumer hardware routers with just a single in/our port, and a bunch of cheap 8 port hubs (not really a bunch, just 3), a roll of cat-5 and a crimper. Not hard at all setup-wise. Set up the router as a dhcp server. Though I don't have explicit experience, I can almost guarantee that the dreamcasts will work with DCHP (if not you can always manually set up their addresses with Sega's software... not terribly difficult).
Yeah, same thing with tobacco. How old was George Burns again? Like it'll shorten my life!
