I showed a relatively geeky PeeCee user iTunes and the iTunes music store the other day. He'd kind of wondered why me (the person who goes into his company to administer their Sun/Sybase servers) carries a Powerbook G4.
He was pretty awe struck when he saw the iTunes store, and also pretty impressed with how slick iTunes was in general. Notably, he was impressed with the amount of initial content Apple had up there, the fact that it downloads (and displays) album cover art, and the fact that previewing songs is STREAMED and not downloaded, meaning you can preview quickly.
He was equally impressed with my transparent terminal windows too;-)
I'm not joining the "Macs are better than PCs" camp, just an interesting observation on what a PC user thought...he liked the transparent windows and the iTunes music store...which are BOTH things that are quick and easy to demonstrate at the point of sale....so maybe Apple might be able to "switch" a few more PC users with the tightly integrated music store?
A dog smelled a trace of something in my backpack a few years back (no, I didn't have any of said substance)...after being kept in the company of Canadian Customs officers for ~2 hours, they sent me on my way with a warning that if I'd been detained by US Customs (I was on my way back from Miami), things would have been very different.
Funnily enough, one of the benefits for GSM and location services IS the fact it uses time divison....allows you to do trig on someones location. Don't tell that to Qualcomm, though;-)
Actually, because of the way GSM works, if you have operator support for location services you actually fairly accurately "guess" the location of a GSM user based on the number of BTS's registered with an angle of entry.
The last remaining humans have been enslaved by a breed of mice that developed the ability to self-heal when attacked...the mice escaped from a lab in 2003 where they had been bred to be cancer-proof...unfortunately, nobody noticed the other "side effects";-)
Seriosuly, though...I lost a parent to cancer at a young age, so it'd be nice to see some solid progress on this front.
Did the original poster realize that you need a Catalyst switch and a bunch of other expensive Cisco software to get this thing working?!
Granted, compared to a large scale Merdiain 1 implementation it ain't expensive, but it's not quite as simple as buying a $595 phone and a WiFi base station!
That the move to 65nm fabrication would be due to the machine that'll be running a to-be-released version of Grand Theft Auto and not some military system or huge scientific cluster;-)
1. Get Windows CE source from Microsoft -- FREE 2. Write new code, contribute it back to Microsoft (containing many, many destructive bugs) 3. Microsoft distribute code, many WIndows CE machines crash 4. We offer to fix bugs, for a fee 5. PROFIT!:-)
Everybody knows that 1978 was actually when the aliens arrived...how else could explain those afros, bell bottoms and all those trippy drugs? It was a cover up!!!! No wonder they want to delay releasing those documents!
The UK is a member state of the EU...so why does the headline read "UK *and* EU"?!
EU != Europe mainland....it means European Union.
AND...the UK is in Europe, despite not being on the main continental mass.

YMMV.

Ain't that the truth.

I believe this startup will be producing just the sort of products you're looking for :-)

Blimey.....that's quite the convenience fee!
Still, I guess it beats the grotty Tube.

Some would argue that helicopters are relatively hard to fly, period...
;-)
Also, you can add things like heading logic to some brands which make life a bit easier if you're not too good at controlling the tail rotor

"Microwaves for the electricity are targeted via antennas and reflectors at a ?rectenna? (from the words rectifier and antenna), "
;-)
I'm glad they defined a rectenna for me...I thought it was an antenna you stuck up your ass!

Why do we have to have a story about "MacOS on x86" every few months on Slashdot?!

There are women who read Slashdot?! :-o

I hope this new technology leads to more realistic blood and a better selection of cars ;-)

You can buy a modified version of the S35i that does station-to-station strong encrption. Do a Google on "Siemens TopSec".

This sounds awfully like the pseudo-standard iDSL that Ascend used to hawk...

I have a friend (yes, really!) who is a video guy...mostly ENG stuff.
;-)
He's always used a PC and hates touching a Mac for video editing because "I can't work with a single button mouse!".
I keep telling him that he should plug a 3-button mouse into the Mac, then...but he still feels somehow a PC with a 3-button mouse is better

That's just plain sick! (In a good way).
Nearly as cool as the hack to have iTunes stop playing when you walk away (Bluetooth).

This is nearly as cool as the atomic level RC car that I'm building out of Bucky balls!! ;-)

You definitely have some good points.
The Government e-file services obviously aren't designed to give you the best advantage (why would they be?).
Plus if you get an accountant or other professional nominee to file, they assume liability and you're less likely to get auditied.
