The US Navy did a significant test of dvorak and found that the typists ended up 74% faster on dvorak keyboards than qwerty. Now yes Mr. Dvorak was administering this but i dare say there were outside observers.
Dvorak typists were also excluded from typing contests for years because they always won when they were allowed to compete.
From personal experience i can tell you that it is far more comfortable to type in dvorak for most tasks.
You have to install and configure an ldap server (know how to administer it), recompile apache, and know what the hell mod_webdav (or even webdav) is in the first place.
How many non programmer people do YOU know who can do that?
So NO, it isn't a stupid article. But your response is a great example of one of the underlying problems in the OSS community: developers tend to forget that the rest of the world isn't made up of developers.
you type japanese just like you type english, except that it's phonetic, you use roman characters which the computer converterts into the corresponding hirigana, katakana, or Kanji. They do NOT have keyboards with 3000+ keys or anything else equally insane. Typing it is damn simple. Now writing it, as in with pen and paper, that's a different matter alltogether.
I love linux but come on. There are certain basic things that your average computer user expects to just work. Video, Sound, Networking, and Printing.
Microsoft and Apple have both figured this out. These core things must JUST WORK. Yes you might need a specific driver for your Printer or a funky wireless card but beyond that it shouldn't be an issue. People don't want to recompile the kernel. I don't care if you think it's easy. You average user doesn't even know what compiling is. I don't want to have to spend time futzing around with the underpinnings of my os just to make the basic stuff work. Nevermind all the time I'd have to spend reading up on all the various compilations options for the kernel and what they all mean. I want to just use my computer not fix it.
It's like these tiny women on harley-davidson motorcycles, how the fuck are they going to pick those things up if they drop them? Just ignorant.
Hullo?! It's not ignorance at work it's physics.
Most guys I know can't lift a Harley. They're freaking heavy. In fact, ANY motorcycle that can hit highway speeds, even small 150cc ones are to heavy for many people to pick up alone. Bulked up guys would probably have problems with a harley too, not only because of the weight but because you don't want it to slide and scrape up the whole side of your bike.
Tiny women on Harleys are no worse off than most guys when it comes to picking them up. The only ignorance is the idea that your average male could pick one up.

although as someone previously mentioned, any encrypted traffic will make you suspect
BSD doesn't allow you to close the source, just to distrubute it with closed source as long as the BSD code still has source available.

Sexism sucks. Think before you speak.
On sourceforge of course OpenBeOS / Haiku's sourceforge project. There's plenty of it.
There's no install disk yet though.
ListfulThinking is the only self-prioritizing ToDo software out there as far as I know. I use it all the time. Of course, I wrote it...
It could use a few more features but the next version should take care of most needs. It's Free, open source, and written in java.
you can use the PDF version and zoom in as far as you want.
