    For those of you who cannot read the article due to slashdotting, here are some highlights:

    * It's main color is no longer blue, it's brown
    * The default desktop image features a graphical heron
    * The start button is now a circular orange button
    * Task bars or "Panels" can now be found both at the top of the screen AND at the bottom.
    * The new graphical bells and whistles previously referred to as Vista Aero is now called "Beryl".
    * Beryl is cooler and runs much smoother than Aero. It requires much less hardware power than Aero.
    * The new version of Windows is said to be much more stable and secure than any previous version.

    Controversial or not - the pr0n industry has in many areas driven the web technology development forward for years. If I had $5M to throw into the advancement of web development I'd buy $5M worth of pr0n. ^^

    A simple answer is that IT knowledge is a more quantitatively measurable than many other professions. Another factor is the high percentage of self-learned IT professionals. You don't see any "self-learned" lawyers, but self-learned IT pros are commonplace. Lawyers have been tested previously (bar exam) while the IT pro may never have passed any formal testing.

    I think it's great that the article/poster is being this specific. There are clearly phreakers who are more skilled, but no longer active. Also, there are phreakers who are more skilled who are dead but still active. Then we have the whole gray-area of undead and living dead, active phreakers. How does he compere to those guys?

    One advantage of Perl not mentioned in the article is that it is probably the easiest programming language to master. The syntax is so simple anyone can program it. In fact, just the other day I left my 1-year old baby girl alone in the room for five minutes only to find on my return that she had written a fully functional email client in Perl.
