Or require all users to have a client side certificate. You can use SSL either way. Instruct them to only keep the cert on a floppy or USB drive that is only inserted when they go to your site.
It's nice to have the information researchable, so that you can get more information than what your doctor tells you. I've recently started suffering from eczema outbreaks, followed by a couple of nasty infections over the past year. I've seen several GPs, a couple of dermatologists, and an infectious disease specialist for the infection that keeps popping up all over my legs. Aside from the antibiotics, the things I've read about eczema on the web have helped me more than the vague advice given by the family doctors and dermatologists.
I was learning assembler on a TRS-80 color computer. I think the first generation of home computer hobbiests are a bit more impressive than somebody 10 years old being able to pass microsoft's tests. But that's just my arrogant view of the world:)
Many people back then did a lot of their own hardware too (remember the blackbox kits?)
Uh, no. I'm one such power user, and the problem with Linux is that moderate customization requires intimate knowledge of the command line and Linux's quirks.
That is incorrect. In fact, you got it backwards. If I want to change the UI in windows, or make it behave differently, I have to be a pretty damned knowledgeable programmer! On my linux box, using a combination of windowmaker and ROX, it is *TRIVIAL* using simple scripting. No intimate system knowledge necessary. Try again.
Is have it default installed on systems, and let those buying know that the systems are designed for basic internet use (web, mail, office apps), so that they aren't expecting to play windows games on it.
People use windows because that is what is installed on their systems. Easier to use? No. Just already there.
I can see you've never had the fun of trying to run your own servers at home. Keep cheering for the cable companies. They are local monopolies who provide crappy service with no other real options.
So the cablecos get to maintain their monopolies and provide substandard service. Lovely. I recently had to spend more money (for less bandwidth!) to go to a "business class" cable line b/c the local ISP blocks inbound http, smtp, etc by default and refused to remove the blocks. At least it was an option, but if I had a choice of which company to go to, they'd be getting the boot.
Um.
Most viruses come in via Email. SMART large companies do NOT run M$ as their external mail servers. They do anti-spam and anti-virus on the external mail gateways, usually some form of UNIX + Sendmail (sendmail with mimedefang and spamassassin running on linux here).
How about getting some topographic maps instead? I love using google maps to plan training bike rides, since I am in a new area and am learning the place. It really sucks to plan a route for a relaxed-pace ride only to find out it has several monster climbs back to back, however.
Another great feature would be the ability to upload a GPS track to overlay on google maps, so I can see where I've been. Even more killer would be the same ability in reverse for when I use google maps to get directions. Download the route on my GPS, and I can then use it to drive to my location.
It's a shame they are spending so much money and effort on something that has not as much benefit as the basic features I outlined above.
... that I can use with my GPS on linux. A way to easily download a map, or series of maps, and be able to dump my track to it. I'm unhappy with the quality of maps that are easily usable for this to date.
I wish I had mod points. This behavior of excel is INFURIATING. I've lost a lot of work by closing something else I needed to look at, and then just clicking 'Yes' to the "Are you sure" message that pops up...different windows, so wTF would it close the other document I was working on????
Wouldn't it be nice if free 802.11 was so widespread that I could stream from shoutcast in my car while driving cross country? But I digress:)
I listen to streamed music most of the day. I found a lot of music that I love that I would never have been exposed to otherwise. But It is good to listen to the local radio on the way to/from work, as I learn about local events that are going on (which bars/clubs will the good bands and hot women be at on any given night? What is the traffic like, and should I pick a different route?)
If a developer doesn't need to make a linux native version, because it is supported in WINE, then they won't. Wine will keep you from finding those native apps because they simply won't exist.
It would be nice if we had those instead of the mess that is KDE/Gnome. I really really miss WPS. Under the covers, I think linux is a better solution for the core though.
Does anybody have more information on how to do this? I'm not interested in a live tracker as much as I am interested in being able to download from my garmin and then overlay on google maps. GPS drive sorta works by using gpsbabel, but the maps that GPS drive downloads have a bad lack of detail.

You are assuming that the clock on end user pc's will be accurate to within a given tolerance. Good luck with that.

I wish I had mod points today. Very well put.

I've always wondered how we get these pictures of the milky way. Anybody have a clue?

I sure am glad that I did *some* time in the service. One would hope that this type of thing wouldn't happen with a bank that serves the armed forces.
I was speaking about bounties in general.
This turns it into a race. In the rush to be first, many things will just be hacked together rather than properly written/tested/thought out.

I run a small list for my cycling team. Today things started to bounce: http://postmaster.info.aol.com/errors/554hvub1.htm l
No idea what is triggering THAT one.
Wow, that looks cool. /me grabs his snowboard and thumbs a ride to mars.

Not always. For example, I automatically back things up and such using a passwordless private SSH key.
