NFS... I get the same problem with Linux. Forgot to unmount it, or your server goes down....you might as well hit the reset button.
I've figured out how to script the APM for Linux to unmount NFS drives if it goes to sleep, but it will not unmount if a NFS is in use... IE I've got a prompt sitting on it.
If you want image blocking and an all around better browser, you should try out Omniweb 4.5. It's using the same render engine as Safari, but the GUI is way improved. It's not free, but you know the old saying, "You get what you pay for."
There is also Net Nimble that has out-door wireless routers. You can even stick some heat-tape in the case for the winter (as long as you have 110vac at the mast). I've got them for my wireless network and they run great! They use a PC104 mini-computer that is rated for very low and very high temperatures.
The problem isn't blocking the spam, or filtering the spam. I have very good luck using Spamassassin. The problem is, that I have to download it in the first place. Why am I forced to download all this SPAM, over 1000 a day, just to delete it.
Also, I have been finding that the "remove" links have be going to "not found" pages lately. So they include a way to be removed, but they do not have a remove system.
Spam will not go away until it becomes unprofitable: either stop responding to spam with your checkbooks, or start collecting a (small) toll on each email received. Where there's profit to be had, the profit motive will always succeed.
It's getting very hard to not buy from spammers. Seems like 80% of the businesses are spamming these days. The ones that don't charge too much for their product.
Kinda like Amazon.com. I don't want to buy from them because of their patent issues, but they do have the best prices by far.
Same here. It was so bad that every movie I wanted would take months to get. I had every single movie in my queue as "Long Wait" and I had not received a moving in two weeks. I canceled. Their search system sucked anyway. I took the money I was paying to Netflix and got a DishTV setup. It costs a bit more, but at least there is something to watch. I also got the PVR, so it's just about perfect for me.
This has got to be the worse version yet. So far it has crashed when I went to my home page. It locked up when I tried to change the font size. It loads pages slower than before.
I've got to say that Camino is much better than Safari now.
I have 7 systems linked using Linksys and D-Link hardware. I have a 12DBi antenna on a 60' tower. The other systems are using 16DBi Vagi's and 24DBi Parabolics. I normal only see about 3-10% packet loss. Thats when its snowing and windy out side. The only problem I have is that the Linksys WAP11's lock up like once a day. I've had good luck with the WET11's and the D-Links.
So your saying that OSS can run it's self with no admin or maintenance? Your saying that programmers will program the OSS for free? Your saying that everyone will only want one version of the program?
I think that your wrong. The way I see it: Companies will still need people to run the software. They will still need programmers to build the software or update the software they get for free. They will still need to pay a programmer to write the OSS.
No, I did not realize it. But, still, I have to download 15.5 MB. Also, I only have a 10gb drive.
That is the one thing I like about Safari...It's small. Other than that I'd rather use Mozilla. One never realizes just how much the Image Properties are used in web development.
If only I could find a copy of Mozilla without mail/news/chat/ for OS X... I only want the browser. On all the other platforms I can choose to remove the extra's, but not Mac OS X. I have to download and run a bloated mess.
I know that there is a lot of other browsers for OS X that do not have all the bloat and run faster, but Mozilla is the best out of all of them.
Here is how the company I work for runs. The featured is requested on Mon., if it is not finished by Wed. we go out of business on Fri. So we slam out some code by thur., that half works, and we are saved for Fri. But we never get it fixed because we have another feature to add the next Mon.
Exactly! And the fact that I can buy and install software or hardware and it works without tweaking anything. Just install and use. I know that Debian comes really close to this. I love Apt. I run Debian on all my servers. But my desktop is a Mac.
You all should also remember. Your not just paying for hardware. There is a ton of software that comes with the system. Even if you installed Linux or FreeBSD, you do not get all the software on a Mac. I wonder what the Mac would cost without the software? Say if you wanted to install Linux on it.
They do have it on their custom build. When I built my custom they told me they do not support FreeBSD anymore. This was six months ago. They said there were going to take it off their web site. I got a call from them the other day and they still do not support FreeBSD.
Is this the reason that Rackspace would not let me use FreeBSD on their network 6 months ago? They said that if I use FreeBSD then I will be hacked. Then they pushed RedHad Linux on me.
To this day, I do not know why they said FreeBSD is insecure at the Kernel.
Photoshop Elements is only $60 at Amazon and other stores right now. It's giving GIMP a run for its money. I prefer Elements to GIMP and the price is right.

I'm thinking it's a problem with all OS's.

Just go over to www.fab-corp.com and buy an antenna. Plug it into any access point and your done. What's so hard about that?

Your wrong! This is the correct course of action. Didn't you watch 'Hackers' the instructional video for young programmers and computer nerds?

There needs to be a way to stop this crap.

PS. Farscape is awesome!

The only people that will get hurt is the greedy.
I would have thought that they would use G-Forge. Wow.
No, I did not realize it. But, still, I have to download 15.5 MB. Also, I only have a 10gb drive.

By the way. What you paid for MSWin and MSSQL, you could have bought three Linux boxes.
Any time I post anything about Rackspace and their "use FreeBSD and get Hacked" stance, I get labled as a troll.... Why? I just don't get it....

I know I have seen this question asked before on Slashdot. I just can't find it.
I don't really know if this is relevent, but what about IRC? Hasn't IRC been around for a long time?
Yeah, I'm not really into picking fights with women. Especially 7' 300 pound black women from the desert. She is being sued though.
