MOD PARENT UP. Very interesting. (I'm willing to burn some karma on this.)

Camera-enabled devices are not allowed on company property where I work. It is difficult to obtain a mobile phone with decent features that doesn't have a camera. Since a lot of companies are implementing this security policy, when can we expect the mobile phone companies to meet this need for non-camera phones?
Ok, since it's clearly some reference to some civil war crap we oceanans know nothing about, WTF is a Benedict Arnold CEO???
OMFG WTF LOL!!!11onehundredelevenone. First off, don't pretend to know something you don't. Benedict Arnold was alive around the time of the American Revolution, not the American Civil War. However, I'm willing to give you partial credit because many scholars believe the Civil War was mostly unfinished business from the Revolution.
Seriously though, if google is such a fine substitute for inherently knowing anything to the point of being worshipped as a False God of Knowledge.. why don't you just look it up yourself? Here's a spoon-sized poke at your badger. Traitors (such an ugly word) don't find favor with anyone after the fact. Once you betray something as large as oh I don't know.. your country it is hard nay impossible to earn the trust of anyone again.
Do any journalists know how to use english?... thread the gauntlet...
I know I know, totally off topic. Reminds me of the last time I spoke to a faux-American call center phonejockey. They started joking with me about the weather in Michigan which was where I called from. I was almost fooled (no, not in the least) until at the end of the call they wished me a good evening. It was 10AM.
Don't try so hard and maybe we might buy it. Also, why are the Benedict Arnold CEOs whining about being called to the task? Own it dude and be proud of it. I own the stock. Make me some money dammit.
If so, how do we know they aren't going to put another backdoor into that and simply change the information?
You don't.
Is there a way they can make the firmware patch open source without giving away their other "proprietary" source?
If you own the affected products and require open source firmware patches then you should have thought of that before you bought the product. If you require open source hardware then buy open source hardware.
So far, no one has found a road-and wheel combination in which the road has the same shape as the wheel. That's an intriguing challenge for mathematicians.
Um, how about circles on circles, like how all the roads are now? Assuming the Earth isn't flat or anything.
Your forefathers fought for your "freedoms". Some of your forefathers died for those "freedoms". I wonder - if they had known how things were going to turn out - would they have bothered?
I am a direct decendent of those who have fought in multiple wars to protect our country and our freedoms. Some died, some lived. Without sounding melodramic, as a member of their bloodline and their child rearing, I am confident in answering for them. The answer is a definite yes.
Foreign and domestic threats to freedom exist today. Currently, I see my duty to politically and financially support those that I think will protect my freedoms. Acts of civil disobedience are not out of the question. Regardless of which front the threat comes from, if called to duty I would fight to protect my freedoms as well.
I don't know about other countries but here in the USA getting arrested doesn't make you a criminal. Being convicted of a crime, however, does. Priceless? Indeed. You can't buy that kind of freedom. You have to fight for it.
... if only I get a cut of the action. They are selling MY information which is deamed to have value so why am I not legally entitled to my cut of the profits?
If I sell a t-shirt with Michael Jordan's name on it I could get sued. Isn't this the same thing? If so, then why can't I get paid when my name is sold? If it isn't the same thing, how is it different and why don't I have a choice in the matter?
The average life of a sports-shoe model is about three months. Say that when your shoes wear out, you want a similar pair. It's incredibly difficult today for the retailer to tell a customer which new model corresponds to the old one. But we could fix that with RFID. That's a great sales tool.
Salesdrone: "Hi, thanks for coming into Foot Locker. Is there something I can help you with?" Consumer:"Yeah, I need a new pair of cross trainer shoes to replace these. They're kind of worn out. I can't find them on the shelves, did you stop selling them?" Salesdrone: "Yeah, they look pretty worn out. The maker replaced that model with a new one. Here, I'll scan the shoes to find out the replacement." *BEEP* Salesdrone: "Yup, XR-304a was replaced with XR-304b. You should buy XR-304b." Consumer: "Uhh, great but that's not what I want. Do you have anything else, I didn't like these all that much." Salesdrone: "The computer says XR-304b is the replacement. You should buy XR-304b." Consumer: "No thanks. Hey, what are you doing? OUCH!"
I'd say the same. It was meant to be a joke to your joke.
... life was laid out to be lived in the Bible, God certainly does have just cause to be angry.
Since you keep bring it up.. claiming to know the mind of a god again? How the fuck would you know what would anger a god? Whatever.
Humans wrote the bible. The bible is humans telling other humans how to live, an instruction manual if you will. Hiding behind some "god" thing as a vehicle of wrath and vengence for not following your rules is quite cowardly, don't you think? Why not just own up to it and say, "Hey! What you are doing is pissing me off!" Then the rest of us can laugh directly at you for thinking you know better how everyone else should live their own life rather than pity you for not being able to think for yourself.
Or God is sending us warning shots across the bow.
Be thankful for your inane idiots claiming to know the mind of a god to keep us from being left behind. With friends like these, who needs fundamentalist terrorists?
Good thing I build all my computers from components recycled from the dumpster bay at Texas Instruments in Austin.
Meaning what? That the components in the dumpster don't have the same stuff as in the Samsung hardware? Heh. Not to feed your paranoia or anything, Hansel, (or perhaps Gretel?) but how do you know the gingerbread house you are nibbling on doesn't belong to a witch who wants to eat you?
I'm quoted as saying that the other judges in my training were in the "grandparent category" with respect to their age. My colleagues for the day, who were in that category as well, did not appreciate the barb and were ready to spar with me.
I was the L-Z democrat book judge, along with Andy, a grandfather of many...
One of the Sandys, Joy and I were the three younger judges who did not fit into the grandparent category.
The less than young judges had a good time constantly reminding me of who the careless judge was at this election. One of them commented to me that there are many young people who are incompetent and many old people who can manage an election just fine, thank you.
I know this is offtopic but WTF is up with this guy and the ageist comments? He doesn't come out and say anything negative about voter judges being grandparents but why does he keep mentioning their relative ages with respect to having grandchildren? Does he think that being a grandparent make one automatically incompetent? I don't think so Ravi.

Just what we need. Another FOX News.
Score:5 Funny? That should be Score:5 Insightful. No no no.. Score:5 DEAD FUCKING RIGHT ON. Dude, you are my hero. Welcome to my fan list.

and some clause in the Patriot Act doesn't everything?
seems to me that it get stretched more than a rubber band.
Why do you hate freedom?

One of the major graphics chip manufacturers is about to put an x86 CPU in their chipset.
Link please.
Has anyone signed up with Popular Power and if so, has anyone gotten paid by it? How do they pay you? That's not in the FAQ.
Magic: the Gathering killed my D&D group dead.
Back in my day, we had to bang two rocks together to get 1's!
The patch will probably just change the password.
Hi! Reckless speculation on week-old topics is always appreciated. Here at Slashdot it is expected and encouraged. Keep up the good work, soldier!
Do they plan on releasing a firmware update?

So, crime pays, but only mostly for lawyers?
Well, it pays for police, drug law enforcement, prisons, and lawyers. But you're right, mostly for lawyers. :)
I think there's a law in the US that prevents perpetrators from benefiting in any way from the crime(s) they commit...
Yup. However just being arrested doesn't preclude guilt, much less a conviction of a crime.
Using spam to punish criminals. Priceless!

KILL YOUR TV
My broadband cable modem fees are cheaper if I also buy basic cable TV than if I don't. How fucked up is that?
Al Gore did NOT claim to have invented the internet. Anyone who repeats that false statement is a liar who is quick to believe false statements that match what they think they believe, or want to believe.
