  1. Upshot? on Gilmore On Hardware-Restricted Content · · Score: 1, Insightful

HOw is it an upshot to get rid of the general purpose computer? I kinda like mine. Any way they would have to get all compaines to agree to do it the same way in hardware, if one company decides not to do it then its useless anyway because evryone will use there chips and stuff.

I dunno, when I was in school the computers were locked down tight. However I learned A LOT from them. I mean in addition to all the normal stuff, I learned howto do social engeineering, howto use a hexeditor, howto pick locks(long story) and generally howto get past the lockdown programs.

I'd rather see the money spent on paying cops to walk the beat.

Lets see, those cameras probably cost about $1500 to setup initiall and then say $500 a month. Now A uniformed officer probably gets paid somewhere around $30,000 a year. They also probably spend another 10-15,000 on other expenses for that officer. This means that you can have a helluva lot more cameras that tell the officer where to go while the said beating is taking place.

Of course people are willing to put up with OSHA because its a supported by the goverment. That and they try to save lives although I still dunno how having a comfortable chair is in violation of osha regs... but the BSA just takes money in exchange for not shutting your buisness down for an audit.

When you try to explain that bad piexls happen and unless theres a lot of them theres nothing wrong with the unit. I've never seen a lcd monitor that costs less than 500 dollars without a bad pixel. So thanks.
