enterprise with the expectation of profit
No. No it is not. And every computer and used car salesman that refers to the purchase of something guaranteed to decrease in value over time should be sued for false advertising.
Sorry, I gotta do this. It's bothering my OCD too much.

Is it just me or does it seem that the Lego Corp has lost their way? When I was a kid, we used the generic Lego bricks to build a million different things--all based on our imaginations.
Now the little brats do nothing but assemble kids with of all things directions. What happened to make up your own ideas? I've now seen so many kids who are unwilling to build anything that strays outside of the confines of "the kit".
The creative building childhoods that had been the last remaining birthright of an American is now fading fast. Kids will not grow up creative in the states and we will drift along and invent nothing new.
From what I know, this is exactly what they do at film festivals and such. I went to Telluride last year and they *told* us they were using technology to detect camcorders.
In quite a few cases, there's a human-based workaround to CAPTCHA-"protected" sites. For example, I often buy tickets to performances at a local theater. Their site is CAPTCHA-protected -- you select your seat price range, then solve a CAPTCHA, and the system picks the best available seats in that range for you. You then have 3 minutes to purchase the seats.
What happens is that what the system considers the best seats may not necessarily be the best seats. I don't like sitting in the first 2 or 3 rows for a ballet performance, for example; it's too close to see everything. So if it gives me seats that are too close, I open another browser window and repeat the process -- the "best" seats are still on hold for me so I get the next best seats; and so on, until I have the seats I want.
I'll put a plug in here for the Distributed Proofreading Project [www.pgdp.net], a volunteer, web-based organization that processes books that have gone into the public domain into e-texts suitable for Project Gutenberg.
It's a great project, and kinda fun (for geeks like us).
This got moderated as +1 Funny, but should be +5 Insightful.
If that one crashes, there will be an Earth-shattering "Kaboom!"
Yes, Cray could do better...
And yes, I know my name is stupid. I wish I could change it, at least once. I hate my l33t name. :(
This is the Slashdot equivalent of tattoo regret. Maybe there's money in it ...
1. Slashdot l33t name regret
2. ???
3. PROFIT!
Who modded this a Troll? I completely agree with it -- tickets for dirty license plates?

There, fixed that for you.
I got your MITM attack right here! [youtube.com]

...and get off my lawn!

Mod this AC up! +1 Insightful!
Yeah, but then you'd have to LISTEN to it to find out if your repair worked...Then you'd have to find a way to repair your ears!
Hmmm. $12 is almost exactly what an abacus costs.

Not to mention algae blooms (and resulting fish kills) caused by waste spills from hog farms [findarticle.com].
I saw it last night. I distinctly remember a couple instances of product placement, though they were few and far between.
The movie was about 30 minutes too long. But good.

All XM's music channels are commercial-free; their other channels are not. I believe Sirius has a similar policy.

Where there's a will, there's a way.
Enabling safe mode (for games) with networking pretty much disables the "safe" portion of that equation
2Good4U96 is trying to fire a rocket at you.
Accept or deny?
Crazyswedishguy, you owe me a new monitor, due to the coffee I just spewed all over mine! ROFL!
I was actually commenting on "C-pound" vs. "C-sharp". I should have quoted.
*whoosh*
Firefox does *NOT* come with the kitchen sink as standard; it's an add-on [addons.mozilla.org].
Here, let me fix that for you... ...I can well imagine a jealous walker-by "accidentally" slashing it with his pocket knife.
All your base (stations) are belong to us!
