I took the case off of mine to make it easier to pack in my luggage.
Has this ever caused you problems going through airport security? It seems like they'd frown on bare, unidentifiable circuit boards & power supplies going through security.
Having a robots.txt file and authorizing the public to view your web site are two very different things. robots.txt is intended to prevent your web pages from being spidered and indexed by search engines. Having a public website is implicitly allowing anyone to read/view what you've made available.
A security guard at the Atlanta airport spent an inordinate amount of time last month examining my car key -- it's a 2005 Volvo with an electronic key (as opposed to a metal one with teeth).
But then again, I wish Apple would just go ahead and build an OSX* for x86 systems, and give the consumer market a *real* choice.
This has already been done; it was called "NeXTStep for Intel Processors". It was essentially a flop, in large part because of lack of device drivers for the myriad of x86 hardware out there.

Lifetime subscriptions, as yours is about to attest, are really min(my lifetime, company lifetime).
Actually, the TiVo "lifetime" subscription is min(the TiVo unit's lifetime, company lifetime). Of course the only parts of the TiVo prone to failure are the hard drives and modem; the hard drive is replaceable, and the modem is circumventable. So you could say the effective lifetime of a TiVo unit is unlimited.
It *was* a really good product. And they supported just about every combination of OS/mail transport agent you could want (in our case it was FreeBSD/Postfix). It's a shame Microsoft has apparently scuttled RAV.
Who needs to buy ladybugs? You can come to my house and collect all you want! Seriously, it's been a bumper year for the ladybugs (bad for me) -- you can start sweeping them up at one end of a room and by the time you get to the other end there will be more to sweep up. And you can't vacuum them -- the things stink, and it would ruin the vacuum cleaner!
Key point: If launched. The user has to explicitly run the application to "infect" his phone and let it spread. Call me old fashioned, but that doesn't even count as a worm, let alone a virus.
Correct -- that makes it a trojan.
But it's just semantics -- you don't want worms, viruses, or trojans; they're all potentially just as harmful.
I've been looking for a cable that breaks out the digital audio from HDMI (in addition to DVI video). I've been able to find HDMI -> DVI cables, but none that also include audio. Has anyone seen such a thing?
That's it -- mine is one of the 50" models though. I guess Linux is used for the menu system, etc. (it's much more sophisticated than previous Sony TVs I've owned). There are also several built-in games! (I know, I know, it's ridiculous!)
Seriously. I bought a Sony HDTV LCD projection TV for Christmas, and was surprised to see that it came with a GPL. It's running one of the real-time embedded Linux platforms (I forget which one).
punches through the hard, horny outer dermis that is so resistive. Inside you are a nice squishy bag of saline solution, with very little resistance... Think about the old demo of cooking wieners with two nails and wall current.
Sorry to post off-topic, but this reminded me of an episode of Star Trek -- "ugly bags of mostly water"...
No, he went to smoke pot and the room was full of noodles.
We had an old RS/6000 that was apparently home to a mouse for a while. It had squeezed in through the hole in the back left by a missing Microchannel slot cover. No, we didn't find a dead mouse inside, but we found lots of "evidence".
You don't pay TiVo a subscription fee with a DirecTV-integrated TiVo; you pay DirecTV $4.99/month in addition to your regular programming charge. They don't offer a "lifetime service" option.
Oops, I guess I was thinking of . Though both were equally annoying!
Will the tag still work?

They did it with SunOS/Solaris before Java. SunOS 4.x was retroactively named Solaris 1.x. Solaris 2.7 became Solaris 7, 2.8 was Solaris 8, and so on.
Good point.

Nor is wood chips that float away every time it rains, Virginia Tech! (yes, they actually tried that!)

Mod this up -- this guy is right about high-res notebook screens being usable only because of the distances involved.
It took NINE AND A HALF MONTHS to come up with the word "NetBSD" and a flag???!!!

Security? If you have an uptime on a Windows 2000 machine of 58 days, then you don't have all the critical security updates installed.
Electrical tape is PVC, the same material as standard (non-plenum) rated CAT5 cable...so you'd be back with the original problem.
