No, actually plenum cable's jacket is thinner, so that the arse end of a non-plenum RJ-45 jack doesn't clamp down tight enough. Plenum jacket is made of Teflon, rather than PVC.
This book sounds like the equivalent of some music artist putting out an album full of filler just to fulfill a contractual obligation. Is that what's going on here -- Dvorak has a contract with Prentice-Hall that says he has to write n books in x years?
I've noticed on many occasions that a review of a product contains incorrect specs -- and they're always incorrect so that the product looks better than it is. An example might be a review stating an LCD monitor has a 400:1 contrast ratio, but it's actually 300:1. I'm guessing these types of "mistakes" usually aren't the reviewer's fault, but instead are "intentional typos" on the specs given to the reviewer.
The business partner of the guy who built my house owns one. It was parked at the house next door during the final days of the completion of my house. I sat in it (but he didn't offer a ride or a drive). I remember thinking the interior looked primitive by today's standards, compared to the exterior.

Personally, I use Mail.app on OSX.
...was made by Wyse, attached to a Wyse 286 PC I used at work many years ago. It had neither an XT nor a PS/2 connector; instead, it attached via a modular phone (RJ-11) style connector. It had a very light touch and a nice sound. I wish I could get one for my G4.
I just acquired (used) my "Yikes"-powered G4 a couple weeks ago, and I'm *very* happy with it. This is a machine that was sold for a couple months back in 1999, with a 400MHz CPU (I actually have it o/c'd to 450), and it runs rings around the PC from just a year ago with a 3x faster CPU that I was using before I got this! In usefulness and stability, that is (not in raw clock speed, which Really Doesn't Matter.)
Leave it to Microsoft to come along and screw with a product that's cross-platform, cross-vendor, and works very well! I only hope that antivirus updates for the non-Windows products do continue, at least for a couple of years.
That said, in a way it's good to see Microsoft finally adopting some antivirus technology after ignoring it for so long. I guess after so many years of viruses/worms being released that only affect Windows machines, they've been embarrassed and shamed into doing something about it.
There are a couple of thoughts that have nagged me over the years. Perhaps someone more versed in Star Trek minutiae can answer.
1. I've always thought that perhaps Guinan was a member of Species 8472... she always reacted with intense fear/hatred towards the Borg, which would be consistent with 8472's reaction. And I remember a TNG episode in which Q told Picard not to trust Guinan and hinted that she was not at all what she appeared to be. Anyone else have anything to add?
2. Why have we never heard of the Denobulans until "Enterprise"? It seems like they would have appeared later since they were working with Earth so early on...yet I can't recall any mention of them in TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, or any of the movies. What happened to them "later"?

My iBook has no PC Card slots. Doesn't need 'em.
Brin also used a similar concept in Kiln People (which I highly recommend, by the way).
That's the deal I got at my local university bookstore... $369 for the 20GB iPod.

Oh, good grief. It's already established that VT didn't get any special deals from Apple; the paid standard educational pricing for the G5's.
But you can bet they got a TERRIFIC deal from Infiniband -- so your numbers are incorrect.
As far as A/C, power, and labor, RTFA -- there have been several.

Virginia Tech got the standard Apple .edu discount on the G5's for the Terascale cluster. No more, no less.
I have no idea what kind of deal they got from Infiniband.
The posting on this thread says "Additionally, the man behind the magic, Shawn Fanning, receives a thoughtful write up."
I read the article pointed to in that text, and Shawn Fanning isn't mentioned at all. What gives?
We disable Autorun (using TweakUI) as standard practice on every machine here.

I'm a firm believer in security through obscurity, USED AS PART OF A SECURITY PARADIGM. (sorry for all the shouting)
I do agree that security through obscurity ALONE is nearly worthless.
"This is the reason a computer can stop working, too... sometimes you can just pop the lid, wiggle everything and cinch it down, and it works."
In these situations, I always say "Everything works but the case screws."

Hmmm. Even if they're the same I don't think they'll work with a Mac G4.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the MIPS port.
Nope, that's it, PPC, Alpha, and x86. There was once a rumored SPARC port, but I don't think that one ever saw the light of day.
Yeah, we used to run it on an Alpha here. Nothing really special about it.
No USB ports are useable on any machine running NT4 -- service pack or no.

No, the question is which one is k00l357?
No, 'e' is for 'education' (as in eMac). It even says so on Apple's website.
