E3 Wrapup Documented
·
· Score: 2, Interesting
One of the biggest surprises at E3 was Rockstar's publication of info and screenshots of Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas. There was much speculation that there would be no releases until much later (it is, after all, a late October release).
For info/screenshots, check GTA-SA.com. They're f*#$ing brilliant.
Though fundamentally different from patents, the EUCD is another broad reaching directive that consistently hurts EU consumers' basic rights... I have (very) recently started a site at anti-eucd.org to rally support against it.
but just in case I was wrong, I got gta-sc.com too;)
Interesting to note: Just a few days ago, Amazon began pre-selling "GTA4: Sin City", but later changed the name to "GTA: The next episode" Forum Topic Amazon

... we believe that those who own property, whether physical or digital, have the ultimate authority over how their property is used.
... I'm glad you agree... That's what I've been saying all along! My computer is my physical property, and I'll use it as I may... Don't prevent me from using my shift key, I own that, too!
I've heard this argument a lot, and I find the idea of a physical object to be quite overrated. I currently subscribe to Safari InformIT and I would gladly have this subscription to 10 outdated books lying on my bookshelf.
I would gladly have a subscription to eMusic (well, before Nov 8th maybe) than a stack of empty CD cases lying in my closet and whats left of my stolen CDs, scratched in my car.
[snippet of code to get alpha-transparency working]
"And you're in business. Perfect alpha transparency. This code works great, with only the small drawback that it's not part of any accepted web standard, and no other browser on the planet understands it."
Wehile we're on the topic of IE and web-standards, I thought i'd express my frustration with IE and its inability to handle PNG transparency at ALL! Not one bit. PNG not only offers transparency, but partial transparency, which can really improve the look and ease of development of many modern web sites... But we're forced to use the unremarkable GIF which only offers binary transparency...
Oh IE, why can you not support an open standard correctly?
I think Napster may have had a different judgement based on their ability to know what users are downloading, even though the actual data is not coming from their server.
But that makes me wonder, does searching for the ability to download a file violate copyright? How does this judgement apply to slightly more centralized p2p networks?
The plot to DOA (2 and 3 anyway) was AWFUL! I mean, wtf was happening? In SF2 where characters just talked smack, it was a good overview of the fight and gave you satisfaction by seeing the opponent all bloodied up... But in DOA, there were cutscenes with phrases like 'Aren't you... my Brother?'...
Perhaps it isn't so bad for those who use 'Other browsers' less than 100% of the time.
I'm not asking web developers to develop for Mozilla, or Opera or Internet Explorer... I'm asking them to develop based on standards! 95% of the web works on 'other browsers', why can't the other 5% ?
Although I haven't received mine yet, I've read excellent reviews of the incredibly simple (and cheap) Laptop CoolPad. They offer Traveller and Podium (read: big and clunky) versions... Anyone had any experience with these?

Its not that we like Real now... Its just that we can recognize when Apple rejects business opportunity to feed Apple's zealous fanatics.

Speculation and rumor-mongering has been going on for over a year at GTA-SA.com... Now finally, some substance!

That most people just don't want to pay2p
Now that we have to pay for napster, it's not that cool anymore.
But now that I'm out of college, I'm not that cool anymore either.

I think your comment could be abbreviated: "websites are not worth the time to modify the browser" ;)
Hahaha! That's a great link:

There is a very decent, free, Linux Desktop Sync software for the Zaurus called Qtopia by TrollTech

:-D
Oh yea, the game sucked too...
In either case, there is some discussion going on at www.gta-sa.com as to where the next GTA game will be and more...
... Thats it.

I, for one, have believed Google will be going IPO for several months, between overzealous aggression against similiar domain names, patenting their search algorhythm, and other odd actions, I just don't know what to think anymore :( ... Good bye the Google we all used to love...

When I go to sign up using Mozilla on Linux, I get a JavaScript pop-up that reads:
"Mailblocks may work with other browsers, but it is only tested using Internet Explorer"
Anyone tested using other browsers? This sort of thing was never anticipated when people were excited about the Internet...
Its a pity that depends of our birth place life
How about an alternative to the lighter side of computer recycling!
