    Absolutely.

    He is talking about the classical double slit experiment. The results of that experiment are correctly predicted by quantum physics because you need to treat photons as waves and not as particles here.

    The author however wants to explain the results treating the photons as particles only. I must admit I have no idea why this leads him to the parallel universe theory.

    In my opinion that theory is not needed here as we already have an excellent model (the quantum physics) that predicts those results extremely exactly. We must not forget that quantum theory (and its application in particle physics) is the most accurate theory / model in the world. No other theory other than quantum theory matches as exactly with the experimental results (up to 10 to the power of -9)!

    The reason could be, that using email to transfer (large) files is widely regarded as an inappropriate technology. There are tools that are suited better for this kind of application:
    FTP, rsync, HTTP, ICQ, DCC (IRC) etc.

    Well, actually, fixed file name lengths make your record lengths fixed, which makes it MUCH faster to parse through the data

    Well, the record length is still fixed in VFAT. But a long file name just uses multiple records. Of course it is still more complicated to find a file.

    I'd rather write one that acts as a net installer for Linux. Can all be done in the background. On day X the machine would just reboot, run Linux and get rid of the Windows partition. :-)

    There is a much more creative variant of this game. Just set the basic scenery (like 'this is a railway station') and pick a character (like a police man). People from the audience are welcome to join at any time as any character and interact with other characters on the stage.

    Here in Zurich there are some clubs that have imporovisation theather on program regularly.

    You are refering to UML as Unified Modelling Language

    There still *are* things that do not work as well under Linux as under Windows
    And there are a lot of things that do not work as well under Windows as under Linux.... I guess you can make that statement for any two operating systems.

    GC was not made to clean up (native) resource allocations, but only to reclaim memory. You should bear that in mind.

    Transfer your money to any bank in Switzerland. They are required to performa proper cutomer authentication by the Swiss banking law. And they do it very well. Even a normal bank account is 'secret': They will not tell anybody that you are a client even if they ask directly. Nobody has access to your money except of you. A bank reprenstative who does not properly authenticate a client, goes to court. And penalties for insufficient carefulness in banking business are high in Switzerland. So as a bank rep. you better be very careful.
