But what do Microsoft developers need to read from samba code for.. don't they have the SPECS for the protocol?? I mean, how much harder would it be to read the samba code and develop your own implentation of the protocol without duplicating samba code line for line, then it would be to read the stinking SPEC and write an implemtation?? I sure hope they know how to program with specs, but I guess that could explain all the holes in MS's implentation

($2/pound) but there was a limit, so every person in the town got 70 pounds of bricks delivered to thier house, and everyone helped build the bank (in a way)..

This just continues to empasize how cheap the US post office is.. I could get over 120 GB mailed somewhere overnight for $15, while the bandwidth charges would be used to get that much transfered that fast..

at my school, our lab is equiped with a stand alone ID card reader that reads the bar code on the back of all student IDs, those that don't have them (fac/staff) etc have a key to the room. Overall the system works fairly well, except when the batteries in the reader die, so make sure there is an alternate method to get the door open. One thing about this though, is that the allowed times are set per user, and from what I know there aren't any group capabilities, which makes it a pain to change allowed access times. Also make sure with whatever system you go with that you install a closer on the door so it won't get left open (a big problem here when they first installed the readers on some doors).

Here's some things that I've noticed the past few years:
    • One of my friends dropped out half-way through his sophmore year of college because he wasn't exactly sure of what he wanted to be doing. I think he would have been better off not going to school for a year to have that time to decide
    • If your not sure of what you want to do - go to college or just into the work force (sounds like you want to go), take a year off and try and figure out what it is you want to do.
    • If your not sure of your major, consider taking classes at a community college - your wallet will thank you.
    • I also know a few people that have taken a few years off and they were still able to get into school with no problem. just be warned though, that you will tend to forget what you learned in High School if you wait too long.. I know taking AP Physics and AP Calc in High School sure helped me when taking Physics and Calc in college... especially on those weeks that I "forgot" to go to class..

Follow boot disk instructions to get the computer that Gentoo Linux is going to be installed on running and the network up.
Look at Normal Instructions and Skip steps 1 - 5; Follow step 6 (partitions) and 7 (mounting); skip 8; and for step 9, instead of copying from cd-rom, copy stages from the network (using whatever protocol meets your fancy); then continue on with the rest of the instructions.

Most just have a shell and run the program they are going to run (xedit) in that shell and forget about it until they have to compile thier program, in which case they clost thier xedit window and compile thier program.
Another thing that I have noticed is a big help to me is just the fact that the shell is a POWERFUL scripting language and if you ever want to do a set of commands on a list of files, you can do so quickly.
