If everybody bought everything because of price, Wal-Mart would be the only store left in the country. As is, I have a thriving high-end retail store as PROOF that not everything revolves around price. Some of us still care about quality...
People don't buy PS2's or Gamecubes because of price, primarily. They're geared at completely different markets. The Gamecube is the 2-16 year old market. The PS2 is an older market. It's all about the games. I wouldn't care if the Gamecube was $5. I would never buy one because the game selection is primarily for little kids (Mario, anime, silly Japanese shit, etc.). People who want a PS2 will buy a PS2.
What in the fuck does this ridiculous babble have to do with the parent post? Why doees it seem that no anti-capitalist can think for themselves, and instead just regurgitate meaningless crap that they've heard elsewhere? Hell, just tell me what this silly trip means and I'll be happy. "liege lord"?? What in the fuck are you talking about, kid?
You are so fucking wrong, I don't know where to begin. First off, regulation of utilities gets us shitty quality, overpriced crap. Power in the US? In case you haven't noticed, CA has had a problem for years because the price set by the gov't was so low that nobody wanted to produce electricity at that price. Have a problem with your power company? Every tried to switch? Oh yeah. You can't. There's zero competition with residential phone, power, water, and in most places cable. Who cares about contracts? Pricing has been racing downward with cell service for years, in case you haven't noticed. My power and water bills have only been going up. I don't know what kind of crack you're smoking, but pass the pipe, dude. You're baked.
Nothing profound to say, but my Sprint service has been pretty decent for the past 5-6 years. I'm sticking there. I couldn't care less about the stupid gee-whiz gizmos that come in phones these days (a camera? games? are you fucking kidding me?). But Sprint has good coverage, and no long distance charges.
That's in 99% of all affiliate rules I've seen. Still, how do they know that none of their affiliates are spamming?? It's fucking simple to put it in, it's another to even begin to enforce it!
You can require all you want, but the whole point in an affiliate program is that your members are advertising for you much more than you ever could. Because I'm sure some of Ebay's millions of affiliates aer spamming, should EBay be shut down (personally, I fucking hate Ebay)??
If you not only go after the people who send the spam, but the people whose products are being advertised, then I think we'll get some results
Um no. There are plenty of companies that have affiliate programs with thousands of members. There's no way to keep track of how each of your members are advertising. The results you'll get will be putting lots of innocent companies out of business.

...quit being such a goddamned pussy. Yeah, yeah, I know... "flamebait" or "troll", but I honestly believe this. The US, especially, is increasingly full of people afraid to leave their houses, and when they do, they're armed to the teeth. I don't know what everybody's so goddamned afraid of. Michael Moore's "Bowling for Columbine" suggested this in a roundabout way, but I believe, that that's a big problem with the US. Everybody's becoming scared of their own shadow. Afraid of terrorists. Afraid of crime. Afraid of "cyber attacks" (this is beyond ridiculous). I suggest quit being such a goddamned pussy, that's what I suggest.
You mean like the old SCO software McDonald's uses?
I'm sure that they paid many millions to have that developed and maintained over the years. I just need something that works out of the box. Traditional retail.
Well, like I said, if there was a viable alternative, I'd look at it. As is, when running a business that's not technology related, a computer is just another tool like a broom or a cash register. I'm a small 3 person business. I have to focus on the bottom line, and to spend extra time and money focusing on something that's not going to impact my bottom line is just stupid. I don't have the luxury of being philosophical. Maybe, one day, if I get to be a large business with a fat bank roll, I can afford to do so. But, not now.
Oh, I will just as soon as I can install QB Point of Sale and Quickbooks Pro on it. Or, as soon as there's a POS software that it can run that's as good as the one I have (ie: easy to use, regonizes standard POS hardware, settles CC transactions online, etc.).
The only OSS in my biz is VNC, and that's because it's the only one easy enough to use. Linux? Puh-lease. I spend my time running my business. Linux is too expensive (time-wise). It's cheaper to pay $200, install W2K, and forget about it. Open Office? Maybe, if we did documents of any kind I'd think about it, but it's gotta be 100%. My vendors send my Word & Excel docs all the time and I don't have time to dick around with opening them. They either open, or they don't. Time is very, very valuable. Saving a few hundred bucks when it's going to take me & my employees hours and hours to fight with the software is not a good value.

If carrying a few books hurts your back/shoulders, it sounds like your problem is a lack of exercise, not the weight of books.
I did research** 5 times just in the writing of the subject of this post!
**Research as Sunncomm defines it as pressing a shift key on my keyboard.
Since when has Slashdot been a Linux website?
You're new here, aren't you?

Well, I heard that some terrorists were using Linux. Let's shut down all of those fucking complicit Linux companies. Motherfuckers. They're complicit.

If you don't know the reference... you're just not a geek.
What MS needs to do is to get a spot in a movie where a MS product is used to upload a virus to an invading alien spaceship, causing the entire fleet to crash soon afterwards. That's why I bought a Mac in the first place!!

Unless they lied on the registration I doubt this is RIAA.
Yeah, boy, wow. It's really, really tough to fake WHOIS info. You'd have to be a genius to do that (note sarcasm).

When I think small business and computers, I think of a cheap dell in the corner running QuickBooks..
That's about right.
