  1. Re:WTF? on Net Addiction Gets Finnish Soldiers Out Of Army · · Score: 5, Insightful

In one of the local neswpapers is a story about this, it say that the biggest reason is the very different life-rhytm. It's about a marginal group of yong men who havn't had anyone controlling their habits, they haven't been woken up at 6:00 and nobody has ordered them to do anything, they have been living without any limitations. When suddenly all this is true, they can't handle it. Net addiction is not a disease as such, but the other symptoms are, and they vary; panic disturbances, pressure handling problems and other psychological factors. These guys only have online friends and suddenly living in the same room with 10 other farting people is too much for them.

They go on to say that these people are examined later (1-3 years), and that most of them are rid of the addicion at that point and then they can continue their service. About 80% finish their military service.

I actually have been located by my cellphone, this was a demo of a locating service, the guy had a color screen GSM phone, and he could see my location on the map, which of cource, was across the table to him. However, first he requested me to allow him to locate me, I got an SMS I had to respond to (like majordomo), and then every time he queried my location, I was notified about it. I could also deny the locator service at any time by responding again to the first SMS.

As for parents locating their children, as long as the parent pays the childs phonebill, the parent should also be allowed to subscribe any service to it.

What's the evil in sales taxes anyway? Everybody pays taxes, the power of internet sales lies in the broader competition (IMO). If I go to country X, and buy, say, a TV there, I'll get the sales tax back at the customs. Then I pay the local tax at my home country's customs (If I decide to declare it }8-] ). If my 500 Buckazoids(TM) total for the TV will get a kid a free schoolbook and some treatment for a hurt man in a hospital, then why not (it might be you). Taxes have their purpose.
In my (H) opinion, there should be no difference if you by a product from another country by phone, fax, by visiting that country, or by filling a HTML Form. In the US of A, there would (as it appears to me) be use of a national systems, that contols some state-wide systems, which in urn contol the taxation in the individual cities/municipalities.
