will there finally be a great Office Suite for productivity, but it will have name recognition. I know people who still use WP. A push from the App side of things on both Windows and Linux could start a trend of moving to WP, and then to Linux. A lessoning of the dependency of MS to supply everyone everything.
This is so dead on. They should have re-written WP and the Office Suite and graphics suite to run natively in Linux. Now that would have made linux users proud to have Corel on their side. This distro thing only rubbed the community the wrong way. Imagine where we might be if Corel had just focused on the app side of things.
Do you think this will ultimately kill Corel? If linux was such a loss for the company, then how would bringing it back from the dead make the company suddenly able to be successful with the product?
If Corel had full Word import functionality, it would be the WP of choice for me. If Corel Linux would allow me to download, install and then install other apps available from debian, then it might be my dad's future OS.
The three series were really well done for their time. I dreamed of getting one of those valkries, and had to wait until I scored a used Spitfire at a garage sale. That series was great.
Also, I lived in Japan for several years, and I remembered cartoons about a ship with this big-ass gun on the front end, but never knew the name of the show. Thanks guys, this brings back memories I thought I would never experience again.
Now, does anyone know of a japanese cartoon where everyone pilots a huge robot, and the women robot fire missles out of their breasts? That was the other cartoon that I loved to watch growing up (in japan). And no, I am not japanese-- my dad was in the navy.
Inaccuracies? Do you know anything about how I might know this stuff? I served one of your missions, I payed your tithings, I was once a member . I did not leave due to someone upsetting me, nor for being misled by someone else. I left because I studied a lot about history, and things didn't jive. Weeks of research later, I left.
Can you honestly tell me, that if you are 20 years old, and mormon, and didn't serve a mission, that you are looked at the same as that prized person who did serve? No. Never. This haunts you the rest of your life as you try to work in positions of responsibility. Always the question is asked in interviews: "And where did you server your mission, brother? You didn't serve one?" (Mind you I did)
No other religion demands 10%. They ask for a donation of what you are able to afford. You are wrong also, as the ward clerk, and the members of the SP also know of your tithes. The records are then sent to SLC. You are wrong on this count.
Only in the Celestial Kingdom can you enjoy the rewards of marriage-- procreation is one of them== according to your religion. Only the 'most perfect' can attain this 'kingdom'.
Beer is most definately frowned upon in UT. Thus, the reason it is sold in the far off corner that is not well lit. Provo stores mastered this.
As for your 'proofs', all I need to do is look at archeological report after report of central america-- there is no evidence of your heroes from your BOM (I know what it is). Also, research your 'Book of Abraham'. The scrolls resurfaced, and have been translated. Ooooops. Not words of a prophet. And Joe did himself in on that one, by leaving the world his translation of the characters to words in order
I could argue the existance of god, but you are right- its pointless. Arguments between emotion and logic go as far as the pro-life/pro-choice discussion go.
I am not offended by your right to believe what you want, I am only offended by your religion.
If you think I am full of it, know that I used to be a 'scriptorian' and very devout. Sucks to be you still living in your world, but I realize it is easier to stay and not question, then question and be forced to leave. Isn't that what happened to the founders of your religion?
Yes, but your church makes everyone aware that they are conservative and typically republican. Remember, far worse than the church being in Utah, is the fact that the culture of the church reigns supreme. If you took that culture away, the place would be more bearable.
If the residents of Utah like it that way than tough shit for you.
The problem is, the area is growing by leaps and bounds, and most of the new comers are not conservative or mormon. They want things to change, and yet, they can't get anything changed. This religion has the state in a vise. It does not allow for freedom of anything except being mormon.
Population a problem? Sure it is, but population is a problem in many other areas of the US, and you don't here people bitching about those areas, do you? No, Utah is not a good place to live because of the culture and guess who dominates that culture? mmmmhmmmm, you would know.
It isn't that mormonism freaks everyone out (well, actually it does) but that they thrust their ideas and living standards on everyone around them. I hate it when a mormon says "please don't swear around me" God! Why can't I have the right to free speech to say god! whenever I want? Or, how about the condescending looks one gets when seen in Provo, or Orem, or SLC, drinking a coke, or a beer? You are shunned in Utah for those things. You see, your beliefs in being a super missionary religion dictate that you try to force your views on the rest of the world. You preach it. Your semi annual conferences thrust your mission in your face. 19? bye bye for 2 years. No choice. That is your religion. It revokes choice by using fear on its members. Worse, it then turns outword, and does the same damn thing to everyone else around them. Proof? Give us 10% of your money or you won't get to have sex in the next life. That is your basis of motivation in the mormon religion.
People slam mormons for another reason as well. The religion in which they believe has been debunked by everyone from the Smithsonian to International archeologists of great respect. Their books are fiction. And the leaders know it.
About those mormons I work with (or, rather used to). Everyday beliefs always seeped into their work. I had an accounting department head who tried to get everything for free, while working obscene hours to make as much money as possible. So, he demanded free work and services, and in turn pinched every penny he could for himself.
I had this same problem with a certain glass company in Provo Ut that actually cut our piece rate so that they could raise the pay of the owner's sons! Don't tell me it isn't the fault of the dominant religion. It most certainly is. Your 'zion' is the toilet bowl of major US cities. And mormonism is the major reason for it.
Oh man, I lived in SLC, and I will never go back. The mountains and the snow (snowboarding) were never enough to keep me from running out of there as quickly as I did (I woke up one morning, sick of the place, packed up and was gone in 2 weeks, with myself, my wife and 3 kids).
Absolutely. Why would I want to live in a community where the society frowns on anything not like them, or worse, a society that legislates that frowning.
SLC was terrible from the religious bias, and the social dysfunction. I have lived all over the US, and it was one of the worst places I have ever been for discrimination on account of religion, or anything not 'them' (read: mormon)
Your state will remain back-ass-words until the religous ropes that throttle it are lossened.
Will there be a Mac/Linux/BeOs
version?
We are planning a simultaneous
PC / Macintosh / Linux release for Neverwinter, with all three versions
to be included in a single box. BeOS users will be happy to know that we
are also developing a BeOS version in parallel to our other platforms.
It's been going very smoothly so far and, if all goes well, we hope to
include it as part of our standard release. On the PC, Neverwinter
Nights will run under Win95/98, as well as NT 4 (using service pack 6),
which is our favored development OS at present. The game also works
quite well on Windows 2000 and we hope to continue support up to
release.
In order for Corel to survive, they will probably need to sell off their assetts. Why not open source previous versions of WP? I would love to have WP5.1, 6.1 and 7.0 available to hack into a really good word processor for linux- with an open source flavour added, of course.
Actually, this is not true. Constantine was very bothered by the different christian factions, and called together the Council of Nicea. He told them to hammer out the details and give him one religion. They couldn't agree on anything. One man (I forgot his name) stormed out of his meeting and began circulating the predicessor to the NT. Years later when Constantine called for a written book, this same man worked with the scribe to produce the NT. This form of Christianity became the dominant view in the West, as Rome came to be seen as the center of the 'universal' or 'catholic' church. Many others persisted until Islam spread across Africa some 200 years later.
Okay, this is where you start to look like a troll. Paul was self-righteous about being mean to people before he began evangelizing Christianity
Okay, a troll? Where do you get that? Paul clearly didn't know christ the man existed, as he never mentions him in his writings. Also, look closer at how Paul beats himself up in Romans ch7. I quote: "but I see a different law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity under the law of sin which is in my members" He continues on, degrading himself and how he must yield to god. The last time I ever witnessed a self denial like this was in witnessing men who refused to accept the fact that they were gay.
So, let me see..., Paul never mentions christ, all gospels come during or after Paul's life, and Paul is a Jew with a terrible self image caused by his anger over being something he doesn't want to be/can't accept being. Who is your 'christ' again? Sounds like the imagination of a man seeking redemption from himself.
There you go. You wanted a 'troll'. I have given you an interpretation of your bible that fits your description of a 'troll'.
This reminds me of when I was a kid. I would play with other kids in the neighborhood, playing something like superheroes, or GI Joe, or super monsters or WWF. We would run around with our 'weapons' and fight each other. Every time one of us was 'hit', we would claim a shield or forcefield that would deflect it. This, of course escelated to the point that all the kids were invulnerable to any weapon, leading us to fighting with sticks and fists to find out who was really the strongest.
This is how god has come to be. We have given him a 'shield' that is too powerful for any 'weapon' we might be able to use against him. This makes him impervious to logic or science or evolution, or genomes. 'God' will evolve more powerful defenses in the eyes of the 'believers' as the arguments against said deity become stronger against it/him/she/them.
As far as the PhD, let him have his day in the sun. How many times has some religious wack-o grabbed the spotlight to voice his views? Too many.
This guy is dangerous. He illegaly cracked a site and emailed its users and told them to stop their activity. The company was outraged, and demands he remove their name from his site. He won't, simply because he thought he did a 'good job'.
He has had people kicked off their ISPs for posting illegal software. He is located in the UK. I wonder, where does he get his jurisdiction from? This is ridiculous. I swear, if I had the money, I would challenge this ass-wipe in court.
I hate people like this. Take your moralistic standings and go preach to your reflection with a burning torch up your ass.
but she is looking for a replacement for X on *nix. If photon could be ported, then yeah, that's a great idea. Until then, we are looking at X for every *nix except OSX.
I don't think it would be hard for them to have a vow of chastity, it isn't like they are getting laid anyways:)
Anywhooo, I would like to see some originality in the games again. I remember WarCraft II, and it still kicks ass. I run xmame, as those were some all time great games. It's the storyline- the gameplay that keeps people coming back-- not flash. Many games have gone unused by yours truly because they didn't hold my internest for longer than the 2 seconds it took me to go-- god this sucks.
Asteroid? Neptune? Boy are they out there. Thanks for reminding me how 'shoot from the hip' this company is. They don't care about 4 years from now, they only concern themselves with how much money they can grab over the next 6 months.
Hey Allchin, when can we expect Uranus? Oh wait, you just gave it to us.
So, let's say they do outlaw OpenSource in the US? How are they going to enforce it? The internet is a global entity, and it would be impossible for the US government to enforce this kind of law. The internet is the exception to the rule. It cannot be harnessed like other services in the past have been.
MS is blowing smoke. I think they do have an answer (or an attempt) and are trying to make us think they are floundering. Unfortunately, they are not. But, at the same time, I don't see them being able to dominate like they once did. OSX and the new GUI's for the 2.4 kernel on the desktop will see to that, and 2.4 kernel and BSD will take care of MS on the server side (along with other *nix's)
I have no gate key.
Fesik, tear his arms off.
Oh, you me this gate key.
Two old OS's based on so much legacy shit, that they both run like dogs on most people's computers. I just watched a Sr Tech in my group hose his entire Win2K system by simply installing MS Project. MS Project? On an MS OS? Shouldn't they work together as this advanced OS is supposed to be able to handle this software.
What am I saying, you have trolled all day long on this site, anyways.

Sounds like you work for MS. If you like W2k, use it. Linux was designed to be tinkered with. Can you say the same for windows?
Hey Allchin, when can we expect Uranus? Oh wait, you just gave it to us.
What an ass.
hmmmmmm, I have no problem using Opera v5. Must be an MSIE thing.
