It DOES NOT take a few hours to boot up the live CD. Coming from someone who supposedly runs Gentoo one would think you would know the difference between a Gentoo live cd and one of the many other live cd's out there (like knoppix).
I dont' understand why Microsoft wastes time pushing Windows when it's Office which is what really locks people in.
Office is the MS cash cow and if they wanted to expand their sales they'd just port it to Unix/Linux or at least supply a version with really good emulation under it, a la Wine.
Then they wouldn't need to worry about how much market share Windows had and could concentrate on their real money maker.

Get real. If all of the illeagal immigrants in this country were somehow magically removed overnight our economy would collapse. There would be nobody left to do the work most Americans feel they are too good to do like wash dishes, drive taxi cabs and clean WallMarts at 3AM.
I've worked with many illegal immigrants for years and, trust me, nobody, and I mean nobody, embraces the American Dream of hard work leading to material rewards like somebody who risked his life to come to this country just so he could work two different dishwashing jobs and send $50 a month back to the family in Mexico.
Giving illigal immigrants drivers licenses is just a convenient solution to our problem of not wanting to do any service jobs.
The real problem is our country, while speaking high and mighty about human rights, allows US corporations to move their manufacturing overseas and pay the workers peanuts while manipulating the corrupt foreign governments they reside in. All this does is just make the US look all that more attractive to get into instead of the third world shithole which we helped to create.

I personally couldn't care less about what kind of guns someone wants to own but If I have to have a license to drive a car, which could be used to kill, you should have a license to own a gun, which can be used to kill. I'm all for freedom and gun ownership but that doesn't mean that both sides aren't going to extremes with the left wanting to ban anything more dangerous than a fly swater and the right wanting to be able to by 50cal. machine guns with complete anonimity from Walmart.
However, a credit report should be between a person and the institution offering credit. How does a credit report determine safety? I have crummy credit from a failed marriage but am absolutely not a terrorist yet I'm sure that all of the 9/11 hijackers had clean credit reports, if any.
We need to think things through before we act. Not doing so is what has caused most of the problems we see today.
