Regardless of whether he existed or not, Jesus wasn't born in the year 0, simply because of the fact that our calendar system doesn't have a year 0. It goes straight from 1 BC to 1 AD. This is because the calander was developed by the ancient Romans, who didn't have a 0 in their number system.
I did mention two other characteristics. Also, I should have mentioned that there may be mitigating circumstances standing in the way of us being able to determine intelligence.
Sure life starts at conception. All the cells in a person's body are alive, including egg and sperm cells. That doesn't make the fertilized egg cell a person. Whether something can be labeled a 'person' or not has more to do with its mental abilities, if it has any. Whether they have, or have the capacity for, intelligence, self-awareness, and abstract thought.
We destroy 'life' all the time. Everything we eat was alive at one point, regardless of whether you are a vegitarian or not. The fact that something has DNA similar to ours does not make it 'sacred'.
To anticipate the obvious troll response, someone who is asleep or in a coma, might not be self-aware, but they have the capacity for it. And no, Terri Schiavo was not in a coma. Huge peices of her brain had been liquified. She no longer had the capacity for self-awareness.
Yes, by the way. If we ever create a computer that has these qualities, then I would consider it a person.
If this was Adolf Hitler's blog, would these people be chatting and making fun about gas chambers?
No. For one simple reason. Hitler's crimes actually happened. I don't find it anywhere near as disgusting to chat and joke with a fictional character who wiped out several billion other fictional characters.
You see, some of us can actually tell the difference between fantasy and reality.
I discovered an abandoned deposit in my company owned by one of our
Outer Rim customers who died along with his entire family as a result of an landspeeder crash. He actually deposited this funds amounting to
IC12,000,000,000.00 (Twelve billion Imperial Credits), for safe
keeping in my company here in Mos Eisley. Company file records shows that the funds was actually for a project our late costumer wanted to start in the near future (a multi million Dollar Spice plant in Kessel)
One thing that they never explained was how the got the heads in jars of people who died long before the technology was developed, like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. Yeah, I know. It's a cartoon. I shouldn't take it too seriously, but even a funny explanation would do.
Hitchhiker's Guide had one important distinction from other books that have been made into movies. That difference is that the book was not the original version of the story. The original version was the radio series, THEN came the book, which was fairly different from the radio version, THEN came the the TV version, which was different from both the book and radio series. H2G2 already has a history of being changed by the author. The changes made by Hollywood are not going to be too much of a problem, especially considering the fact that many of those changes were made by Adams as well.

We shall never know the end of hipocracy of the exreme right
They don't have to clone a whole person to harvest the organs. They will be able to grow just the needed organ.
How exactly do they know how much of the software being used has been pirated?
Like three or four years ago?
...doesn't like tabbed browsing?
I recall the 10-year-old who was complaining to his father that he didn't like calculus class.
Did the companies like Elsevier actually have an argument, or were they just whining because people are finally getting sick of them?
Actually, that isn't the exact quote either. I just posted it further down this thread.
Beware of he who would deny you access to information, for in his heart he dreams himself your master.
When are they coming to the Baltimore/DC area?
Will the RFID blocker protect the card from the RFID zapper?
Well, you can't, but those kinds of things can be put on the disk.
It sounded to me like the moral was to run something other than Windows.
Of course, who am I to talk? I run windows myself, but mainly because I mostly play games on my computer.
That should have said "Just who is this Douglas Adams person, anyway"?

Oh. my. god. that is funny.
Is some reference to the green guy, even if just as a bit of graffiti in the background somewhere.
Since when does someone have to buy a game in order to have a copy of it?

I didn't hear an explanation of why it is hurtful either.
