  1. Fringers.. on Why You Don't Have a Broadband Connection · · Score: 1

For the fringe areas in the urban communities that may not be as easy as some would think it would be... I had been pestering SBCSouthwesternbell to get DSL out to my residence which is clear out on the edge of town. So far al i got out of them were nastygrams saying that it was underplan and we'll call you dont call us.
    Hrmf.
My phone line developed a imbalance in it that kept kicking me off so i called for a linesman to come out and deal with it. After he has completed that job I asked him why hasent SBC delivered on DSL out to this neighborhood... He replied "$250K". I asked why the price tag and he said that would be the amount to get the SLC that covers this area replaced with new building and install new equipment to handle the digital service...
The irony of this next phone bill that i got they were touting DSL service in it.... Dont you just love it?
The first time i do when i get things squared away here is get the frell away from Rockport Tx, and get to a place where they have Co-Op telco and broadband, to hell with all bells.

One question that keeps bouncing around in my head is this, would the internet have been possible if AT&T was not split up?

NOW if the bill got passed and signed into law (IMHO, will be a snowballs' chance in hell), it would face severe challenges in the courts and come under alot of heat from the public civil rights groups as well as some of the telcos too, for they are going to have to shoulder their little war that they want made legal..
I can safely say that it won't come into play for at least several years and by then, we'll have a alternate to P2P in place and it will pretty much become a paper tiger...

The other is a Full case mod where a guy simply built a frame out of PVC and put all the PC hardware in it and took a full sized box fan and mounted it in the framework and it blows air across the entire machine!

Fan noise is one reason why alot of Modders and OCers are switching to WC (water cooling) rigs and doing quite a good job at it too.
One way to expand on WC is to build a small WC tower that sits outside the house and pipes water to the machines that are plumbed for it. If one wants to really get wild with it, take a small reach-in refridgerator and modify it to cool the water, then pipe it to the system. This is only temporary tho for the compressor is only designed to run 50% of the duty cycle and will burn out perhaps after a year of operation.. I'll do some designing and some up with something thats really wild in regards of watercooling..
