Yeah, but you can probably hit the uninstall/remove application button and get rid of it. Try doing that with IE before the settlement. Microsoft was a late comer into the internet domain and tried to flush everyone out by bundling IE with Windows... That, my friend is illegal, because microsoft was trying to use one monopoly to make another.
If you don't like staroffice, just hit the uninstall/remove application button.
I just want it for the kewlness factor! Yep here is my Athlon XP 2100+, and my Athlon 64 2XXX.:-) I could probably heat my house with just those two boxes....
"without interfering with the experience of consumers have not yet been invented".
Amen! Thank god a computer manufacturer is finally thinking of the consumers that use it's products, rather then trying to make alliances with the *AA crowd (RIAA/MPAA, movielink,...etc...). Right now there isn't a foolproof method of DRM, that doesn't affect a user's fair use of copyrighted material.
I started using computers (Commodore 64) when I was 7 and my fingers feel fine. I can type faster than I ever have..... I'm sure this won't last forever though, but I always practice good ergonomic habits when I type though.
Windows at work (because I am forced to use it there), Linux at home. I do have 1 windows box a Pentium 233MMX. I use it for quicken, and Windoze Media Player (NFL games only stream in that format). Everything else I use Linux on my AMD Athlon XP 2100+. MMMMMMMMmmmmm Linux on AMD (drool..).
How about:
1) Create Gaming Platform
2) Sell it for less than it costs to make it
3) Losses
4) Sit on our 40bln, and eat the losses till Sony runs out of money.
5) Profit when we have 95% of the market
When XBox linux finally gets out, and stable. I would like to buy an XBox just to fsck it to microsoft, and use the XBox as an MP3 player for my home stereo. Too bad I already have a really nice Sony DVD, otherwise I would use it for that too!
Atari branded cartridges had a protective sleeve that went over the connector, so when you pulled the cart. out the connector wasn't exposed. Only some third party games actually had the connector exposed.... So if you blew on your pacman cart, it wouldn't make a difference...
Thats nice, how about I sell you a computer that has a 5 GHz processor. The processor will consist of a one bit adder capable of running at 5 GHz.
Hey if PPC can get 10% better performance at 1/2 the clock rate, I would take that anyday, because that means that it is able to get more than twice as much done in a single clock cycle. (P.S. I don't own a Mac, I just get ticked off when people use clock rates of different architectures to equate performance)
I have a sound blaster live, and RH 7.3 found it and properly set it up. I am not using ALSA, just the standard driver, but it provides the same functionality as my windows sound card, and I didn't have to RTFM, I just had to PITC (Put in the CD).
More like they own a South Korean car (Kia, Hyundai, Daewoo). I own an American truck (Chev. S10) with 147,000 miles on it, and it drives like a new truck. Engine idles smooth, I get smooth acceleration, and the only major work that I had to do was replace the clutch at 110,000. Not to mention my 1995 S10 has much more style, than a 1995 Toyota Tacoma or T100, or a 1995 Nissan, and is twice as fun to drive...
Hydrogen fuel cells are where GM is betting their money. They are actually trying to redesign how a car works. 4 electric motors 1 for each wheel, can you imagine how much of an influence technology would have on a design such as this (i.e. Traction control).
I guess it is like Konqueror for KDE. It is a web browser/file manager/windows file manager look alike, but I can easily get rid of it if I want to.
BTW who uses active desktop anyway, only feature I see it has is the ability to have jpeg/gif wallpapers?

In Florida it is (or used to be) $1/tire. I think $4 wouldn't be enough money for me to flip out about it.
Does this include lost productivity due to Outlook worms/virii/ILOVEYOU/etc? I know we lost a lot of productivity here (3 days worth) because of Klez.
I use Linux by choice (home), and Windows by force (work, which lost a lot of productivity thanks to Klez)!
No profit to be had in selling software? Tell that to MSFT!
Or better yet, play a newbie joke on them, like tell them to take out the trash. :-) One less billionare boy band...
You mean the Chicago version of Linux, it won't be called Linux 95 until it is two years late!
Why Palladium of course? The open standard, open source DRM (digital rights mangling) solution.
Samething here, free cable in St. Petersburg, but not in Tampa. (Time Warner)

This wouldn't matter to geek kids, because all they have to do is (unless this is implemented as some sort of packet filter).
Start
Run
ftp ftp.myfavoritenoncensoredbrowser.com
get myfavoritenoncensoredbrowser.zip
unzip myfavoritenoncensoredbrowser.zip, enjoy..
Atleast that is what I would have done when I was a kid.
I guess Amazon is probably going to lose some money...

Customs? Just tell customs that you brought it with you from the UK, how are they going to prove you didn't?
XBox
XDocs
OSX
Windoze Xp
Orafice Xp
XML
XFree86 and XWindows, X before X was cool....

Yeah, you might move over that clouds background which comes with windows. I'm sure Microsoft copyrighted that clouds.bmp file.
