It's amazing there are still people defending communism after the experience of the twentieth century.
No one is doing this. What people are saying is just because Communism isn't a viable method of government does not make Capitalism some sort of infalible system. The trap that people like Hoover fell into, was the belief that since Communism was "evil", they felt justified to do anything nessecary (within the Law, and often beyond it) to defeat "evil".
To make a comparision, only to make a point, the Nazi's justified murdering the Jews and others, because in their minds the outcome would be a German utopia. In effect, you can justify anything when the outcome is a "heaven on earth"; a place devoid of evil.
Now obviously Communism fell into this problem as well because they were looking for their own Utopia. This all comes back to human nature, which exists in all forms of government. Capitalists can behave in exactly the same ugly ways as Communuists, (and they have). Capitalists can fall into the same spiral as the Communists did. And the current call for an objective self- analysis of behavior is the responsible path to take. The people that don't do this are the Fascist and Communists, because they blindly think/know that they are right.
Furthermore, the defeat of Communism does not validate Capitalism; Hoover was more of a Communist/Fascist than a defender of Democracy, he ran all over liberty and freedom.
I find this study very interesting. I see parallels with myself when I was playing a game an average of 3 hours a day (6 on the weekends) called Action Supercross. It is a stupidly simple game where you drive a 2d motocycle through a level and try to get the best time, that's it. Of course there is a world record list where people from all over the world try and get the best times. On top of this, there is another goal to add up all your best times from all the levels for your Total Time. Spending 5 hours shaving 20 seconds, or even less for the top players (1-5 seconds), of your total is totally normal. I was so into this game that when I had a History paper to write I would let my self have "one life" for every 100 words I wrote!!!
This game has since evolved into Elastomaniathe site of all sites is here. For some reason it is dominated by Scandinavians; I think they invented rally racing so it makes sense I guess.
It looks stupid I know, just download one of the track replays for the demo version and see if you can come even close to the top times. Some people have been playing since 1998
BC Shaw only allows 60kb/s MAX upload and download between 30kb/s and 100kb/s, although on crazy fast servers I have seen 700kb/s too. The higher speeds you see are probably due to lower populations in Sask/Alberta.
The thing that makes me mad is that Shaw will advertize "unlimited internet access and the ability to download music and full-motion video", all the while peer-to-peer services, and IRC f-serves, violate the AUP. The max uploads per month are not explictitly set in the AUP allowing them to arbitrarily define them when ever they want. So in effect the more users that sign up the lower your download and upload rates can be manipulated.
If your an extensive bandwidth user, especially in the outgoing direction, expect an email telling you to stop, then a phone call, then a week long ban from the service if you didn't comply.
Check out the RBUA for more griping and Shaw/Rogers news.
Me a Mario!! I shop at the GAP, and jump a super high in my Nikes. I have to save Princess Britney Spears from the clutches of the evil coke can, but need to collect all the Pepsi Products before I have enough energy to take on the darkest evil in the universe.
Why is this tragic? The point of the article is how movies present the image of a hacker. The Net falls into this category. Even though Sandra B is, of course no hacker, the uninformed will think she is; thus molding the general publics perception of what hackers are, and what hacking is like.
Let's see V-Chip, ratings for video games........OH MY GOD COMMUNISM is right around the corner!
If people want the right to limit their childs viewing habits then what's the big deal?? This could always be done by blocking certain channels anyways.
There are other and better ways to learn about the world if your afraid some poor child will miss some important documentary about the Holocaust or something, it's called a book.

Just because something isn't grammatically polished to the point where it's fit for the New Yorker doesn't make it a hoax. It is certainly coherent, minor gramatical problems doesn't hamper content. If they were writing as bad as 'Your Base Belong to Us' or 'I feel asleep' then I could see your point.
I got bearshare, installed it, searched for something. What do I get?
3000 matches.
99% was shit. Took me like 10 min to scan thru it and find what I wanted.
You have to be precise in your searches, or you will get crap. It took you 10 whole minutes?? You could of cooked ten pizza pops in that time!!
I'd have to say that about 20% was some preteen shit. Different folks, different strokes, but I don't wanna look at the result
"lolita preeteen fucked by daddy.jpeg/mpeg/???"
I think LimeWire allows you to filter adult crap.
Especially when I was looking for a live concert recording of the grateful dead.
I can't see how you're getting porn while searching for the Grateful Dead....
I've broken two Timexes this month, this is just old hat now
How the hell do you break two watches that 'take a licking and keep on ticking' in 1 month? What could you possibly be doing in your spare time that creates such a watch dangerous enviroment?? I mean yeah, I fell into my rock tumbler once and ruined my Timex and my glasses, but don't tell me you did it twice in one month!!!
They don't have any ads on their site, and as far as I know don't bump peoples sites up in the search rankings. Yahoo uses their search engine i think, but is this the only way they make coin??
This machine might not be complecated today, but back in the 60's it certainly was.
There's really no difference between the complexity of a system today than then, it's all relative.
I totally agree. What the hell is a poor agrarian farmer going to do with a COMPUTER?? It sure as hell can't plow a field or feed his family. Maybe he could order "How not to starve" off of Amazon.com
Furthermore I think 1st world nations have gone overboard with their blind faith in the almighty beige box; computers are as much useful as they are cumbersome.
What if Hitler had crushed the British Army at Dunkirk?? Well there is no damn point in wondering unless it really happened. The same goes for wondering about Yahoo and the evil "walled garden" that might come if the moon aligns with Venus and Mercury. If sci-fi movies are any indiction of our ability to predict the future then we obviously suck at it, so guessing like this is a waste of time, but I'm sure it sells well.
Q: I have heard that some people have determined that the dead part of the card can be bypassed with a hardware device. Some call it a boot
loader. They say the device is very similar to an AVR3 board, or an emulator board, and that it will emulate the dead area of the H card. Is this
true?
A: We have not heard from any of these people yet directly. The IDEA of this seems like it COULD work, but again, nothing solid has
been told to us yet, and they are NOT available anywhere yet either.

A new study released in Canada suggests that computers in schools do not accelerate learning, but just kills time as the teacher tries to figure out how to work it. Obviously the problems lies in the teacher but I mean HOW useful would the internet be for elementary and junior high students? Books are 1000 times simpler, a fraction of the cost, and easier to teach. Most of the internet is crap anyways, it's best use for students is to allow them to quickly find books in a library or sift though data bases for articles. My profs will scoff at you if want to use internet sources, books are widely avalible and more trustworthy. I think people throw way too much value behind technology in our society which blinds us into complacentcy.
It's not as though it
will bring socialism crashing down on your head, is it? Is it?
Oh really? What would be next in store for us if we handed our precious freedom over to the government! Maybe they would want all the people on the LIST to get new cars with wonky steering wheels and then drive them on the wrong side of the road?!?!
I've been called a crackpot before just don't call me a crackpot head, I'm a one drug man reserved solely for rubber cement!

Well it's only a matter of time until this type of things becomes another way to advertize the fact that "My University Degree is Ready for $19.99"

Yeah they mention this but it is not considered a model plane because of its weight. Needs to be 11 pounds at maximum to be a model plane.
