the premise of this book is that trade is a non-zero sum game. as trade increases, everybody benefits. many of these posts represent fear and misunderstanding, not to mention a bit of good ol' amerikan--i want the easy life. germany for example did not lose its textile industry. why? because they chose to develop new fabrics and methods, creating new markets. the book is by robert wright (the moral animal), and this link has some decent reviews (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/067 9442529/qid=1044055265/sr=8-2/ref=sr_8_2/102-79729 59-6884123?v=glance&s=books&n=507846).
if i recall correctly, i purchased an osx server in 1999... i actually just sold the boxed copy on ebay. it was bundled with webobjects post $50k price reduction. so, yes it is possible!
snicker, snicker... and, what country do you live in? you really do need to get better informed! we are about to go to war for oil... even those who are very well informed on the subject, and feel that saddam needs to go for plenty of reasons, acknowledge this point.
well, you'd love to think that they don't produce anything of value, but they have a pretty darn nice sacd player! and, were one of the first out of the gate with it! though it helps when your choice of mechanism is sony and phillips... so look deep inside that marantz and see sony smiling back at ya!
has a sony 24 track digital studio! they were featured in time for a story on drugs in high school. but, since the parents in this high rent zip code subsidize the drug usage, the recordings are much cheaper to produce!
not only is the powerpc an embedded system, but the fact that one could be running essentially a full system in a palm-like profile is very much more interesting than a limited pda. this i why i do not have one, but instead opted for a tablet. sure it costs more, but i can do more! limited is dull! me wants more!
if ibm and apple can come up with some jointly utilized platforms, costs could be substantially reduced. as for linux and servers, doesn't everything become essentially a "server" when the network is the computer?
everybody SPAM KEVIN to show him what he has missed! i see t-shirts and bumper stickers with SPAM KEVIN on them! welcome home, and are you sure you don't need a larger penis?
it might just slim down and get lighter and faster! what would they add, other than tabs, that would cause major bloat? that is the problem with the full mozilla--many features. i shouldn't say "problem" though, since i feel that it is an advantage in cases.
yes, we print in a cmyk world for the most part. that has not stopped adobe with pdf from proposing and implementing rgb workflows in prepress. although it takes years for new workflows to be implemented--why indesign is not making a dent in quark's ineptness--they are beginning to hit the high end. we work in web printing--mostly books. and this is where the new tech happens, due to the cost savings realized. cmyk is nothing great, it's just another method. as a designer, i don't even really look at color on screen, it's in my head. i'm sure many photographers work the same way. film (nor ccds) do not see what you see. as a professor used to tell us, "look through the camera, not at it!"
it's a beta! and, it is quite nice. i just downloaded it, and it is realtively speedy, but the google bar makes the difference. i missed that moving from a windows machine. ui is clean also, and i expect that it will improve markedly by release! very cool... as is the x11! quite nice!
"We've discredited the notion that the Internet would change everything..."
no, it is changing everything! you're just not going to make a billion almighty bucks. we are living in one of the most interesting time periods ever, and we don't know what we want. the book "flow" has some very interesting discussions about what makes us happy. reasonable challenge, playful, sometimes repetitive = engaged. how can one be creative when one is under extreme pressure? and, last but not least, helping others can be rewarding. surprise!
i have seen product designs which change color for the purpoe of displaying information or mood. sure, on a computer--cool. but, still not patentable imho.
i design educational materials for publishers. how could anybody expect technology to be useful in education without any planned assessment assessment implies known results, not testing. perhaps looking at the pew study posted earlier, and maybe looking at "the teaching gap", one can begin to find some clues. teachers and professional development is the area where technology will most change education. though my clients don't want to here it, textbook are dead. they have been dead. go read one!
the modem card is good because rarely can you find a consistent hotspot which is free. sure if you're driving around town they pop up, but my experience has been that the signals often are weak and drop, and if they know what they're doing, they are protected. damn starbucks to hell! everytime i walk in there, my browser automatically goes to the tmobile site. trying to get off that site is a pain in the ass. they certainly have something to teach top the pop-up add people.
not quite! but i do get pretty decent response times on slashdot... i got a verizon card last week and am posting (pecking on my tablet) from a coffee shop. i find that it is very functional, and only miss the bandwidth when downloading files. bandwidth seems to be an excuse to surf faster. recomended.
i think everybody should send thank you cards and gifts to spammers. we KNOW of one, don't we? i think this person might need some sets of weights delivered to his house, perhaps several tons of weights. they are cheap. You know gifts! be healthy spammer, and thanks for all of the special offers!
and how exactly do you argue with those in power before they clear cut the old growth. I have a business, and can easily recognize the necessity of doing what you believe in. many people are hippocrits, these people just happen to actually do something the rest of the time. as for your scientific statement of forest fire causes, the research is inconclusive (just like global warming!), and affects primarily planted areas, not established forests which are older than our country. i oppose clrear cutting primarily because nobody respects the material any more. it's such a shame to cut down trees such as these for shit furniture and mini-villas. stewardship! lol!
journaling! it requires activation, but is there...
sorry, i am ignorant of the security implications... any comments?

oh dear, we really are in trouble!

a floor cleaner... and a desert topping!
to the employee number function... everybody look at your hand and say zero with your first digit extended...

clumsy perhaps, but the man has certainly done more for the internet than those trashing misplaced comments!
and, what could you imagine W does on the web?
how inaccuracies get stated as truths! but, this is slashdot!
