I was in the same exact situation and decided to go with the treo. so far, I'm not disappointed. Albeit the camera sucks, but the pda and cell phone work great along with the always on internet (i have t-mobile with gprs) Honestly, its not really worth its price, but being a gadget fiend, i've bought worse products for about the same price.
Because they're in the midst of releasing updates to the OS to work with Apple's AAC format with Home Media Option. I bet there's some code that Apple doesn't want to share (I don't blame them). Apple probably told them to stop allowing image downloads if they're going to get on the AAC front.
I bet this is OS 9 legacy code still festering about. Since iTunes recently went OS X only (IIRC), you can bet it will be pure Cocoa in the next major release.
The preview is some kind of streaming. It is not AAC (you need Quicktime 6.2 to listen to AAC: and you can preview the tunes even without Quicktime installed, so it can't be AAC).
I'm assuming you mean QuickTime 6.2 installed.
IIRC, Quicktime has been able to stream AAC for some time. AAC made its debut on Quicktime 6.something. iTunes is just now getting AAC. The streams are AAC.
Played Moto GP Demo til my thumbs bled, Still never got first place. Played NFL 2k3 against some pros and lost pretty badly. Practice makes perfect.
on my way to Best Buy to get Unreal Championship to do some fragging. The voices are extremely clear, the voice masks (cartoon, little child, big guy, robot, dark master, etc) are fun at first but then get annoying. hardly any lag at all in my experience, and NFL 2k3 warns you if there may be a network problem with the game before you accept the challenges.
Microsoft surprised me with this one, they really came through. More games! More games!
Wrong. "Jaguar" or 10.0.2 IS merely a bug fix and those new features should have been in 10.0.0 which was *completely* unuseable.
You missed the year 2002. 10.1 was a bugfix for the "unusable" 10.0 version. 10.1.x is the latest, STABLE, version.
10.2 _is_ a major update with all those features and..*gasp*...Quartz Extreme. Hardware accelerated graphics layer? Hello!?!?! McFly?!?!
10.0.2 should be a free upgrade for those people brave or stupid enough to have had to put up with 10.0.0 or 10.0.1 and their hideous infancy problems.
Wrong. Just..wrong. The amount of FUD on this thread is staggering.
How much for another $128mb? Oh... only $75. Strange, I swore you could buy that much in pretty much any store for around $15-20.
Wow. 128MB - $28 iMac
Hmmm... how much for another $256? Oh... only $150. Again, I'm pretty sure that I saw that in a store for $60 yesterday (and that was before a $20 mail in rebate)
256MB - $44 iMac
Ok... how much for a 512MB DIMM. Oh, only $250 more. Again, $119.99 in the store.
the picture's been photoshopped. You can see where someone copied and pasted the first fan to the upper right. (theres a little piece of the red wire still in the image) Plus they put fan chips between between two memory chips. No way that pic's real. The card could be coming out, but that pic is definitely fake. (DeJa Vu with Voodoo 5) Read the forums from the original link to find out.
I just came back from seeing it. I wouldnt recommend letting any kids younger than 9 or 10 see this. Particularly, the scene where we see Bilbo's attachment to the ring manifested. Sheesh, it sent chills down my spine.
I couldnt agree more. The reason I bought the PS2 back in October was that their selection of games on the PS one was simply outstanding. Each genre had its standout title:
It was published this month (in playstation magazine) that Sony has introduced a resource usage program thingy which gauges how much of the ps2's power is being used. It was first thought that Gran Turismo 3 maxed out the ps2's power but this new tool from Sony only showed 25% of the ps2's power was being harnessed. Say what?!!? It was written that Sony will be providing this optimization tool to third party developers.
This is good news for Apple, but there is a snippet of this article that raises an interesting issue:
Analysts predict that rather than pursue an "embrace and extend" strategy, Microsoft and RealNetworks will stick to their guns and continue marketing their own formats. Although those products will not have MPEG-4's interoperability, the companies say advantages include smaller file size, better image and sound quality, and more advanced digital rights management software. Both RealNetworks and Microsoft have invested heavily in creating anti-copying technology that would make it safe for record labels and other content owners to sell their products online.
Steve Jobs' stance has always been that stealing music is a problem of the "community" and not "technology". I wonder if Apple will stand behind this philosophy with MPEG4 or join Microsoft and Real Networks in their security schemes. Just a thought.
Once the registry key has been added, the worm will try to delete files of common anti-virus and firewall products. If the files are in use and cannot be deleted, the worm will create the file %SYSTEM%\Wininit.ini, which causes the files to be deleted when the computer restarts.
Google scares me. Taking over the world one service at a time.

try traveling with those three... it sucks after a few weeks. those few extra ounces make a difference on the road.

Just my $0.02.
Your ipod(s) must be defective. I got a 15GB on Friday and have been using it nonstop ever since (two flights and while at work).
Smooth transitions, no pops at all.
Good catch!

No No No!! C'mon people at least try!

Not til August :(
According to AppleCare. Confirmed on the MWNY floor.
I'd call hardware accelerated graphics layer [Quartz Extreme] a major upgrade. But that's just me.
Well said!
I'm not going to complain neither. I'd gladly pay it. Quartz Extreme? Hello? This ain't just a bug fix people, this thing is loaded with new features.
*Bzzt* Try again.

ok, that was funny. Wish I could mod this up.
And now, we are in the midst of an ultimate gaming revolution with titles like Ico, Grand Theft Auto 3, NBA Street,Devil May Cry, and SSX Tricky available. PS2 games seem to be at their peak, but according to Playstation magazine, no one has harnessed the full power of the ps2 as of yet.
It was published this month (in playstation magazine) that Sony has introduced a resource usage program thingy which gauges how much of the ps2's power is being used. The best is yet to come people.

Apple's on a streak now. I wouldn't doubt them.
1. Mac OS X
2. iPod
*jaw-dropping*
wow.
Lets see if RSA labs will start another contest like DES III with a 10 grand prize. Heh, I say a year from now, we'll have new d.net clients :)

Correctamundo. I think the article needs an update. This payload is not non-destructive:
