  1. The problem is that we always think we are safer(ist).

In no scenario of a Model T failure would it devastate the environment.

What is going on in Japan and subsequently in the Pacific Ocean is a travesty.

Twitter won't win in general public opinion from such a removal, either.

Of COURSE many people would love it. This country is quite polarized politically.

Trump is 10 times better (ok, more than that) than Obama.

I support the Constitution. The federal gov't is way out of control.

States rights should usually trump (get it?) the feds.

    I'm not a conservative, I am a Constitutional Libertarian.

Yes, I will vote for Trump in 2020. I am very happy with his ability to yank the chains of all the leftists. I like that he speaks and tells it the way it is.

    FUCK political correctness.

  10. I absolutely understand this is a request by the EU.

And if I (as an American company), open an office IN the EU, then yes, I am subject to the GDPR.

If I, as an American company without offices in the EU sell merchandise, and an EU citizen purchases from me - I, and my company, are NOT subject to the EU.

I am sure the EU thinks they can impose their will, but they are incorrect. They have not the teeth to actually extract funds from me in the form of penalties, regardless if they impose them. The imposing is simply expressing the will of the EU - but they aren't in my sandbox.

Just like if an EU citizen is IN the USA, they have to follow US laws. But an EU citizen partaking in a legal activity over there, that is illegal in the USA is of no consequence.

I am most curious to understand what legal path the EU will take to impose a fine on a business that has no legal presence in the EU.

  11. Americans don't even HAVE to. It is EU law. Not USA law. Not international law.

  12. It's EU law, not international law.

Unless you are actually under EU jurisdiction, no nothing.

The EU is toothless and just wishing the world would do what it wants.

Perhaps the 'citizens' there should only choose to deal with those that specifically state they adhere to the GDPR.

I like 14.04, but it is getting a bit long in the tooth. It is time to upgrade to see the performance in the newer kernels, and other things. Even then, I've messed with this install so much I think I've done a few things to make it less performent.

I'm one of those people that think the market should set the price. Say Apple prices their new iPhone at $1000 or whatever, what's the problem? If the end consumer wants the phone, they will pay. If it is too much, they will not.

Now, stepping back from this focus on this transaction is the question, "How could they price this hardware for this much?"

In my opinion, it comes back to the government in multiple ways facilitating this. From out of control patents, a really wacked legal system, etc, etc.

So, it isn't swindling, but I'd be delighted to eliminate the legal construct of "corporation" immediately and then proceed to dismantle a lot of the other problems.
