    I did the same thing on my 80 GB maxtor but it didnt help (yes, I had the
    right PCB firmware! I asked maxtor what I should have and they helped me).
    The motor would spin down after some secons.

    But at least I tried.
    Nowadays, I backup everything. Before I didnt backup everything.

    What a sad, boring world you are picturing.
    I work as a sysadmin at an university. We have
    about 500 users at my dept. All have public IPs
    and unfiltered ports (ok, the univ filter like 5-10
    ports like dhcp but thats about it). We dont have
    a proxy.

    I would not want to work where you work. I would
    not like it, its like a prison.

    deja-vu.flashdance.cx is a 2.2.23 box. Its a NAT box for 2 windows computers (my parents and my sisters). MDK 6.1
    All servers turned off, no rpm upgrades exist (for security patches) and to compile the servers was to much hassle. And I wasnt really in a need to run servers on it. Now it got 78 days uptime. 1 GB HD, P120, 80 MB RAM.

    No need to upgrade it. Rest in peace or something.
