  1. Doubt it! on Microsoft in 2008 · · Score: 1
I higly doubt it! No so much Linus working at Microsoft, but more the 'the open source community is working for [Microsoft] now" thing.

I highly doubt there would be many developpers that would want to "work for Microsoft" or have their code used in their products. Hell, they'd probably even create and release code under a license that specifically forbade MS - and only MS - from using any of the code in MS products

Well, yes, otherwise you just zoom past your target. And besides, it makes for a better hit as you speed up to hit them as you can line up your shot before hitting the nitro.

  4. Great fun on Review: Burnout 3 - Takedown · · Score: 1
This is one of those games that you don't need to know difficult controls or button sequences - just push the gas button, steer, and use the nitro occasionally.

It's also fun because it's real easy, you don't have to be super-precise, and you don't end up getting killed constantly.

This version is a great improvement over #2, which was fun for the crashing part, but wasn't as interesting as #1 for the racing. #3 combines the best of both ealier versions, with much, much more racing venues and gameplay.

Definitivly a 'get-it' item, but if you're into racing games you should also look into #1 if you havent' already.

Add to that the fact that most people are slow at typing, and their thoughts outrun their fingers and they forget to type some of those words. I see this every day in our online support desk requests.

People just need to take the time to read what they write in their correspondance, and most just don't.

Just my opinion. Of course I wasn't going for 'Funny', or anything in fact, just that I wanted to point out that dimmed menus (which the article seems to complain about) in Macs is much more useful than windows' way of being counter-productive.

  22. Re:Dimmed menus on Top Ten Persistent Design Flaws · · Score: 4, Insightful
This doesn't keep a consistent menu, which is totally annoying. Also, instead of not telling the use that the action is not available, it just hides it (talking Word here as an example); seeing a menu dimmed is much more helpful than having to search for that menu.

And in Word it's not a case of 'least used menus'; I'm using word this very minute, and menu items that I've used, seconds apart, are always hidden ('minimal menu' mode for lack of a better or official term). So I'm wasting more time searching for menus than I should, and it's just totally annoying.
