I don't know if Be would feel like Be with a different kernel... The UI would still be very nice, of course, as with the api, but the most important aspect of BeOS to me is the light and nimble kernel. It is nice to have an OS that has no excess baggage from the past, it's almost all fresh. As we all know, linux has plenty of baggage that you just do not need in a desktop OS.
It would be a neat thing to see though...
aol would most likely MAKE Beos suck...
It's not that far-fetched though, if they could get FTC approval.
I dont see MS buying BE, because the FTC would never allow MS to gain even MORE market share...

Well the decimal would be 65767632897985823266658369833265826932666976797871 328479328583
and on average, you would have to figure out pi to the 65767632897985823266658369833265826932666976797871 328479328583th position, although some are easier and some are harder.
Are there any distributed pi calculating programs yet? That could help a bit...
Actually, this isn't too great of an idea. A long time ago I heard of a study that showed how people that were exposed to white noise regularly had a higher pre-disposition towards violence and got angry easier. Supposedly because white noise starts a type of primative survival mechanism in our brains, but i just think it's because its annoying as hell...
I wonder if anyone has tried using clonecd or any other bit for bit cd copying program. It seems as though these would work quite easily. Of course this doesn't solve the problem with converting the songs into mp3, but I'm fairly sure you could program a quick filter into a cd-ripper to fix that.
In my opinion, the southern part of cuba(has been under water since the end of the last drastic glacier recession) is where atlantis may have been. Supposedly there are underwater plains on the south of cuba, and during the last ice age it would have been the perfect place to grow crops.
This would also give a reason as to why the great flood stories are so prevalent in many cultures.
That's odd, as you would think the exact opposite would be true, as Windows isn't trademarked unless there is a microsoft in front, although i believe Linux is trademarked...
That would be.0007716$, or around.08 cents a second. I also think 2000 would be a bit steep for a T1, even 2 years ago... I wouldn't have paid more than 1500 for it.... and they are about 800 now..:)
I agree with the whole thing about schools in america not teaching people to think, only trying to cram information into their heads so that they can pass a test and at least look like they can think. I am a Junior in high school now, and that is one of my biggest complaints. School is just attempted force-feeding of information, and it'll never work correctly.
I personally see no problem with using calculators though, as long as they teach people to think for themselves first. They need to be taught that a calculator is only a tool, and only as infalliable as the person using it. Calculators aren't a magical answer machine, they just remove some of the tedium out of solving certain problems.
I think that the main problem with the education system currently is that it doesn't teach thinking, and is in fact more oriented towards those who don't think, and just memorize equations without any thought as to how it works or why it works. I think that anyone who actually thinks in school will quickly find themselves bored.
I also agree that it would be much better to privatize the education industry, but that is for a quite different reason.
It's available in america already..
As a matter of fact I beta tested it some time ago. At the time I had a diablo II addiction though, so I didn't play as much as I would like to have played. It seemed cool though..
Mephisto(mephistopheles) and Diablo dies in Diablo II, and Lucifer doesn't quite fit in. Perhaps because Lucifer is a english work, the other three are from ancient languages, or at least based on them...
Besides, in Diablo I, they say the Three prime evils, so thats basicly it. Although they do introduce new lesser evils, such as andariel...
You obviously haven't paid any attention to the near launch lineup of the GC. It includes games like:
Eternal Darkness
Rogue Squadron 2
Resident evil 0(?, we'll have to wait a few days to see when it'll come out exactly.)
Luigi's Mansion(it's like survival horror for kids)
Star Fox
Batman
Crazy Taxi
Extreme G3
Pikmin
Rogue Spear
Super Smash brothers 2
Waverace Blue Storm
That is discounting all the sports titles for launch
It may just be me, but I only see 3 sequels? And they all look good and fun? Surely it can't be!!
Yeah, Nintendo games will cost the average 50$ a game, no big surpirse there...
They do not use expensive cartridges anymore, the use mini dvd type discs... 8 cm across, should be cheaper than even normal DVDs to make...
Yes, but think how many GOOD EXCLUSIVE PS2 games you'll get....
FFX?
FFXI?
The Bouncer?
name other square or sony made games here?
hmm....
Doesn't seem very pleasant to me. I would rather spend $199 on a nice Gamcube that has these exclusive titles..:
Luigi's mansion
Mario
Zelda
Pokemon
Star Fox
Eternal Darkness
RE:0?
Thornado?
Rogue Squadron 2?
Super smash brothers
etc....
I heard that during the Xbox demonstration this morning, the Xbox wouldn't boot.
I don't know the exact details of what happened though, I heard it on the boards at Ign.com...
I seriously doubt they can afford to go toe-to-toe, much less undercut the Gamecube. I estimate they drop to $249 late this summer, the Gamecube launches at $199, xbox at $299, and most casual gamers will go for the cube(which we all know is the best anyway:) )...
Goto www.ign.com and get the new Eternal Dark movies.
That, sir, is a great looking game. The new Star Fox in game movies are great as well, check those out. They both look great, better than any PS2 game I've seen...
What about excellent titles such as Eternal Dark, or Too Human perhaps? Resident Evil 0 maybe? I think you might like Raven Blade, or surely the new Metroid?
God I hate Fanboys....
I personally am getting the Gamecube first, but if I get a job sometime soon, I'll get both perhaps. DOA 3 is looking good...:)

I picked dish network instead, its cheaper than directv, and the receivers are better IMO.

He said percentage wise..... Not sheer volume...
Well, the file is 599 MBytes... so its pretty damn close to a full cd...

Interesting... Never heard that before, always thought it was a relatively new word.... Learn something new every day...

Actually, Nintendo looks like it may actually break even or make a slim profit on the Gamecube.

lol, that was quite funny. As a side note, the PS2 only uses AOL's online content and networks. It uses whatever ISP you already have....

Retro is 2nd party, and they did that so that they could finish Metroid and the RPG theyre working on in time for launch, or soon after...
