either that or SCO modified it jsut slightly so as not to be noticed, but if it was released they know who saw that particular variation and someone is getting ready to go to jail.
seems that way to me too. I would think people with PhD's should be in a lab with a soldering iron getting phone calls at 3am from his wife asking when he's coming home for dinner.
ACtually when I was working for alocal ISP awhile back we were hiring some more network techs and a guy with a PHD came in to be interviewed. We turned him away because he was overqualified and didn't really have all that much "on the job stuff". Reading all the books in the world will teach you how things are supposed to work, but only being in the trenches for awhile will teach you how to ways to make things work when the "way it's supposed to" fails.
I agree. It's been fun to watch so far but it's time for everyone to collectively turn their back on SCO and just let them yell until they are blue in the face. It's like SCO is holding a handgrenade and people are slowly moving away from the madman so as not to make him blow you up to. As an aside, I wonder if slashdot could get an interview from the original SCO owners and get their take on the whole thing.
The article says "By explaining how the vulnerability worked, and why customer data was at risk, prosecutors asserted, the security specialist "impaired the integrity" of the affected network. It is now up to a federal appellate court to determine whether this interpretation of the law is to stand. If it does, it could mean a dramatic decline in postings to Bugtraq, CERT, or other public fora. "
Which is complete crap because nobody who submits bugs to them is going to send out 5600 emails to a companies subscribers. That is ridiculous. What would/. do if all of a sudden it's entire subscriber base was spammed for 3 days with messages conataining info on how to gain root through slashcode? This is garbage.
Not so innocent if they let themselves be infected by Blaster and haven't had the presence of mind to clean it up and patch their system.
You are ignorant. How about this, I only have 1 windows server on my entire network, and I was scanned 30 times before yesterday where the snort alert "ICMP Cyberkit" was triggered. This new virus happens to trigger that same alert of which I've been probed 5600 times in the last 12 hours. Snort continues to log about 250 of these alerts every 10 minutes or so, am I an innocent bystander? Oh you better beleive it.
And yes that infernal windows machine was patched.
They have a false sense of intuitiveness that won't transfer to KDE
Of course they do have a point with the dialog boxes. For example there's a Galeon error that tells you to either hit "OK" or "Cancel" but the options say "Yes" and "No". While it's not any direct fault of Linux, it is part of the "experience".
good sugestions but how about DECENT CUT/COPY AND PASTE?!
the highlight then copy, and the ctrl-c and ctrl-v can get really confusing at times...sometimes I will go to paste something and what I paste is something I pasted an hour before. I will just use the other method of pasting (middle click) and that usually works but having a decent system that works across all programs would be better. I know it's not a linux but a GNU-X11 thing but still...makes a guy wish he could afford a powerbook *sigh*
Speaking of reported declines, I wonder what netcraft says about SCO. I know we're in the process of removing our caldera mail server. It was a peice of junk anyway;-)
Not that they'd actually try it, but they'd lose if they did. So what if the code was generated by the IDE? It was still you who was controlling it. That would be just as if Microsoft started asking for royalties on books written in word, because hey...they probably used the spellchecker to generate the correct words in it.
I highly recommend it. I used to work at zones.com. We used to see a lot of people with powerbooks that died and were basically "up a creek". Granted I worked in support and obviously only had experience with the people who had problems, but would you drive your car without insurance? It's worth it. Just do it.
install msn messenger...and run it. See how it connects and then block that method, then re-run messenger and see how it connects and block that. wash lather rinse repeat until messenger can no longer connect.
the online store dealy that's like napster only you pay 99 cents per download. It's not free like napster but at least the song you download is the right song, and you don't have to wonder "hey creedence clearwater wrote hotel california? weird, and why does it sound like zepplin's black dog?"
...but then I realized that rubik's cube is boring and mvoed on. I must have ADD.
Maybe not "as-is" but since it runs Debian, then perhaps MOL (Mac-On-Linux) which will run OS X in a Debian evironment.
As I have this in /etc/postfix/body_checks /^Penis/ REJECT /^penis/ REJECT /^Pindick/ REJECT
How about a little Downhill Domination for GC?
BUT, they really should start cracking down on those puppetry of the penis things first.

This man is an idiot!!! He needs to be in prison.

Now that Y2K is over you probably won't find many companies looking, learn something else.
