I have several lawyers for clients. The personal injury ones are all just freaking scumbags. Their main complaint that I hear over and over is that the people who get hurt and they sue on behalf of do not go to the doctor often enough, or as often as the lawyer tells them to.
Does that just not make you want to scream? I go to the doctor when I hurt or when I have a difficulty that warrants it. If I dont WANT to go to the doctor, my complaint is probably not bad enough to warrant chasing down some insurance company over.
In addition, its just all about the deep pockets. Personal Injury attorneys I have come in contact with regularly screen and only take cases where the defendant has a large insurance policy they can rape.
Not only was it startlingly revealed that coffee is made by pouring near-boiling hot water over the grounds, it was also revealed that when cooked properly and served fresh, hamburger meat is hot enough to cook flesh! Ice cold soft drinks are...ICE COLD!!!!! And they never lowered the temperature of the coffee... they just added boatloads of warnings all over the place that, yes this insulated cup contains a liquid that will burn the shite outta ya!

Nah, we will find out that the reason that linux just "seems to work" is that for the most part linux is used in "install and forget" situations as file servers and whatnot. Putting it on the desktop of millions of Lusers would have us working just as hard to fix those drink holders and mice and crap as before. They will find a way to screw up the settings and install spyware to slow down the machines to a crawl.
Come ON everybody! One aspect of what is happening is with the explosion of computers in the workplace is that there are now enough problems that more than one person is needed to handle them. Hence division of labor, and the logical change from "one tech guru handling all this stuff", to "one tech guru handling the tech guru stuff, and tech weenies handling all the weenie card-swapping"... Kinda like how the modernization of cars brought about a niche for Jiffy-lube to grow into.

Hah! Ebay is THRIVING in the current atmosphere... IF they could find a way to beat the scammers, they would just EXPLODE... I bought EBAY stock at $55 against my better judgement a year or so ago..(their p/e was too high for my comfort) and lookie! its over $100 now. I just can't imagine if they could get rid of that albatross of fraud, then they would be bigger than MS.
Photocopying is quite a different thing from looking at them. Copying creates another instance of the information that can be accessed in an uncontrolled fashion. Merely LOOking at them just makes you knowledgable abt them.
