The Clinton Administration gave the US domestic auto manufacturers funds for R&D into fuel efficient vehicles too. Combined with this funding running out and the California emissions requirements being relaxed, all of them pretty much dropped their electric vehicle pilot programs to focus on what could make them lots of money. Given that gasoline prices were at a low point, they could make a killing selling vehicles based on low-tech truck assemblies. Toyota did too, but at least they kept working on fuel efficient vehicles for the US market.
It's an unfinished webservice for an unreleased product, so there's bound to have some bugs. If their app store still crashes after the release, then it's ok to gripe about it. How long did it take Apple to get MobileMe working right?
It's nice to have contracts binding all major PC OEMs to install whatever you shovel out the door. Apple doesn't have that luxury in the smartphone market, so it must continually improve the product, service, and value to the customer. What a concept!
the "if it's offered" is where the actuarial tables come in. The various health systems don't have unlimited funds, so they do have to figure out a way to ration care. At one point the UK was considering outsourcing some procedures to India or other "medical tourist" destinations for people well enough to travel in order to cut rising costs. I don't know if they ever went forward with that or not.
If mandatory health coverage going to be like when various states made auto insurance mandatory, health care plans will probably increase in cost.
Heh. You're probably right. People blame gas stations for raising prices when they make far less from each gallon of fuel than the Feds do in taxes. Not to mention "the conspiracy" behind fuel prices increasing and dropping between certain holidays.
Do we know that this isn't being done with Apple's knowledge and support? The assumption is that it is, but Palm could have paid Apple, gave them the right to use one of Palm's patents, or something else in order to allow the Pre to sync with iTunes.
You could, but fuel economy is going to be horrible compared to the diesel. My Dad and an uncle had the same Dodge truck, but different motors (Cummins diesel vs gasoline V10). Dad's diesel could pull a little heavier trailers and got 2x the mileage as my uncle's truck did.
Low RPM torque is where the bigger displacement engines have the advantage, but having lots of it isn't as important in a little car as it is with a work truck. In the future, I'd expect series hybrids to start to do some of the jobs of the big displacement engines. The IC engine can run at a high constant RPM to drive the generator when needed and the electric motors can provide lots of torque. That's how most diesel electric trains work now, so you would think that large truck manufacturers would probably be looking at such designs, especially if they can get battery packs that work well enough for their application.
When we see the return of law and regulation of the banking and financial services industries that kept the nation stable since the great depression
So when are they actually going to get around to addressing that? Or are they still too busy bailing out the influential and nationalizing stuff to care about any of that? I would have thought that those issues would have been at the top of the list to be debated and fixed.
No kidding. Once the universal health care fees start to be levied and businesses start passing on C02 taxes to their customers, there will be a lot of people thinking "WTF did I buy into?".
The templates only help when using C++, not the C projects that would also be affected by this change. You can laugh all you want, but MIN() still works if the programmer does his job by giving it the right input.
Between Terminator and My Name is Earl being canceled, the number of US TV shows that I like has been cut in half. If the Simpsons and Supernatural get axed, I'll have to go back to watching Brit/Aussie documentaries or miniseries via bittorrent.:(
sure it does. I want every bit of fouling & dirt removed and the proper amount of lubrication applied every time I load the rifle into the robot for cleaning.
Maybe detecting the different displays has gotten better, but IMHO, the video configuration tool has gotten worse. I tried Ubuntu 9.04 a few weeks ago and not only did it not let me pick the type of monitor that I had, it only gave me a set of low resolutions (800x600 & lower) to pick from. Installing the nvidia software was even worse. It would only run at 640x480 and didn't give me a way to change the type of monitor or force it to use a different resolution. Fedeora 10 behaved the same way. The older software in CentOS 5 worked perfectly: pick the monitor, chose a supported resolution, hit Ok, and the resolution changes on fly. This was no different than what one would expect if you were a Windows user. In order to get Fedora 10/Ubuntu 9 to work at the correct resolution, I had to create an X configuration file manually. There was no odd-ball hardware involved either, so this is a big step backward in my opinion.
I wouldn't mind a robot that would consistently disassemble, clean, lubricate, and reassemble a rifle. Sure, this sort of maintenance can be relaxing, but at times it can be a hassle because I'd rather be catching up on my sleep.
But you also don't want the situation where you spend so much time trying to deal with the equipment used to record the trip, that you fail to enjoy the trip yourself. It's too bad many of the 'sunglasses with a video camera above the nose piece' solutions probably aren't worth a damn and look dorky to boot. You could have it take photos at regular intervals, combine it into a little movie, and your friends/family could see the same stuff you did on the trip - with the cleavage shots and bathroom breaks edited out depending on the intended audience.:)
IIRC, some of them basically said "your data is F@#$ED, we're going back to using what made our models work" and did the opposite of what you've mentioned.

IIRC, Palm hired a bunch of engineers that used to work at Apple.

That's nice, but I believe that song is from The Simpsons.
Are those 4 cylinder engines naturally aspirated? Who makes them and are they available in the US?
I've read the comments of a H3 owner in Australia and he has found it to be a good vehicle for driving around on the local bush trails.

he just showed what industries they're primarily servicing.
No, just lobby for a relaxation of the eye protection mandates in workplace safety rules.
None of this was done on 'desktop' hardware.

The first Terminator movie is going to be preserved in the US National Film Registry of the Library of Congress. Not bad for a 'cheesy' sci-fi flick.

If you had older brothers and a pool/lake was nearby, it is possible something similar was done to you.
