I think the parent poster meant Encephalization Quotient. Basically, its the brain/body mass ratio for a particular animal compared to the brain/body mass ratio for the "average" mammal.
I'll second that. I absolutely hated the catacombs, basically because they really creeped me out.
The only other FPS level that ever did that to me was the original DOOM, the level with the secret maze and the chainsaw. Running around in the dark like that got the pulse going.

That's me too.
I rarely post in the forums, I could care less about my karma. I just like to read the interesting stories and maybe learn something from the highly modded posts. I don't really have time nor is it worth the effort to do anything more.
Actually, "fish" are a fairly easy group to identify. I agree with your other points, but to say that fish are an ill-defined category is quite incorrect.
Last time I checked, cows didn't produce uric acid so unless something fishy (or perhaps birdy/insecty/reptilian) is going on in the butcher shop, my steak isn't saturated in it.

Plus, steam at say, 101C, has many times the amount of heat energy than that of liquid water at 99C.
All of that energy goes into your flesh when the steam condenses on you. I don't think it'll be a pretty sight.
I've got an FDIV P60. In fact, I'm using it right now. This old things survived alot..going on six years this Friday in fact. Most of the original hardware is still intact with the exception of an additional HD (old one is still functional, just too damn small), more RAM, and a new case fan. Oh, and a network card.
Other than that, the SB16 still plays, the 3X CDROM still spins, and the 2400 baud modem probably still works but I haven't needed it for a while now.
I'm still waiting for my replacement chip, but I don't think that's going to happen. Oh well.
So after looking through various Canada Food and Drug whatever documents I found a stipulation that caffeine can be used as a food-additive in "cola-type beverages". Whatever that really means. I guess that implies that caffeine may not be added to non-cola-type beverages. Not sure on that, but I feel satisfied with that answer =)
Ok, here's what I was able to dig up. Yes, Mountain Dew has no added caffeine in Canada. The reason? I found this: (from http://www.vex.net/~smarry/zzz/before.html)
I got curious about why Mountain Dew has no caffeine in Canada. (If you don't believe me, get a can and check it for yourself.) and called the 1-800 number on the can. The telephone operator on the other end said that Dew is the wrong colour to be caffeinated in Canada. Apparently a drink has to be brown so that people know what to expect. Now, as far as I know, coffee and tea (which also has caffeine in it) are both brown only by coincidence, since it's the tannin in tea which makes it brown, and (also as far as I know) there's not much tannin in coffee. If Coca-Cola didn't have caramel in it to make it brown, who knows what the rules might be..
That was meant to be a little joke. The point being that you shouldn't have to have a court ruling to make people be civilized.
And I wasn't talking about shooting each other or making death threats. I'm defending my rights to be childish and make an a$$ of myself, if I choose to do so...not that I would of course =)
That's true, this is a good point. It's one of my biggest problems against Napster (other than the obvious legal issues). I'm surprised that this hasn't been brought up much more loudly, especially coming from the typically...paranoid? (for lack of a better word...maybe we can call it "cautious" =)...slashdot readership. But how secure can you really expect it to be anyways? If you're running it on a Windows machine, any security is like locking the door of a house with no walls. I think these issues need to be addressed more carefully before I would ever use something like this. At least better than "i can assure you its secure"
That's the big issue here. Sure this doesn't violate your rights...this time. It's just that this is a small step in a dangerous direction. All the ultra-litigious American society needs is more court time wasted with things like this...
Not to mention the fact that part of the ruling was intended to force people to act like civilized adults...that definitely violates my rights.
In Canada, we often have the same problem when trying to view online content from American networks.
ok I screwed up that link...
try this

In this case, humans have the highest EQ.

Now would probably be a good time to point out Tab Downloader, a Phoenix extension for auto-downloading all images opened in tabs.
Y'know...for "archival" purposes...
Oh ya, it doesn't work with Phoenix/Firebird 0.6 yet.
One my profs works on geckos, he was telling me that even dead geckos stick to walls. Fun for the whole family!
Its an irritatingly common mis-pronounciation.

Ever installed IE?
No, not on purpose.
How about:
1) Card stolen & reported stolen.
2) Thief tries to use card to withdraw money:
3) Thief swipes card.
4) ATM recognises stolen card.
5) ATM: "Error reading card. Please swipe again."
6) Thief swipes again.
7) ATM erases card.
"all they ever do is make really dangerous things that smell bad."
No way, my OChem lab smells great. It's my Zoology lab that's the big stinker.

Really??
I never knew that...
Are you quite sure?
Sounds a bit strange to me.
Can anyone confirm/deny this?

oops...my bad...November only has 30 days... =)
so that's 30-11-1103 then 10-02-2001
a little more time in between
31-11-1113 then 10-02-2001
are there any in between?
it's too late, i can't think of anymore
