how is fair use striped from you in this case, try reading the article its about putting warning lables on electronics that HAVE drm, so you can make a informed choice when buying electronics, I think its a good idea, if people dont buy the things with drm sticker on them maybe the rria will get a clue
I dont think X needs to be replaced just improved, a lot. for one it needs a native codac server so that when someone writes a video app they dont need to write ther own codac server. It also needs a much better way of cut&paste for exmple you cant highlite one piece of text and then select copy then highlite another and select paste, that whole middle click paste thing sucks ass. It also needs a way to change res on the fly but I hear thats going to be in 4.3 . kde adds much of these things but they only work within kde not to mention kde is too much of a mem hog on slow systems
a tv is a hell a lot lower res then a monitor, dont belive me connect your computer to a tv and just try to read slashdot a tv runs at most 640x400@60hz ware a monitor can run whatever for comparison my tv is 25" runs at most 640x400@60hz ware my 19" monitor runs 1600x1200@75hz that
The article was about the evolution of x86, its too hard to benchmark x86 and ppc together, for many reasons mostly couse they cant just stick in a geforce4 in a mac performa much less run ut2003 on it. Dont like it, well do your own benchmark I would read it, I just want to know how a ppc stands up to simmler x86 in something other then photoshop
I dont know what it adds to the game, but if its like diablo2 then yes they need a beta test, diablo2 exp add more caricters as well has higher resolution (in windows), lots and lots of new items and many smaller changes

the thing is that when apple droped the floppy, was that they dint replace it with anything, no cdrw no zip nothing so that, if you wanted to transfer files, your forced to ether buy a floppy drive, or an external cdrw, now that cdrw drives are installed in almost all new computers, its about time to start getting rid of floppies.
nasa will get the funding now to build that space shuttle that they have been talking about for the past 10 years that has the booster rockets built in that takes off more like a air craft then a rocket
thats couse a fridge keed things cold enough for water to form from the air, what this guy set up keeps the water at room temp if the guy used a pump (he does not) and the cump was fast enough the water would get colder then room temp and water would form around the pipes
for 2 reasons water jackets are not produced in bulk like pumps and a good one like the one he uses, is more like a mini car radiator ( look at the pic) something like that is going to cost a lot to produce
err, assuming the thing works, your not going to get any steam, my cpu a p4 2ghz, runs about 65C (with fan) way below 100 required for steam, even if it failed chances are the cpu would fail before it got hot enough for steam to be produced esp with that much water
everytime there is a new inovation in cpu disign that reduces heat insted of just remaking a p4 to run cool enough to run without a fan, they crank up the clock so that its putting out even more heat then before, making water cooling required for a quiet system
thats the problem its insulating i.e. not tranfering the heat outside of the case, people have tried it and found it just just transfer enough heat to matter
what realy killed the segaCD whas the fact that not only the FMV games corny whas that it could only disply like 52 colors, so that when you tried to play them you feal like your watching tv with a pair of broken rabit ears
I bought a Vboy when they whent down to 50$ and could get the games at blockbuster for just 50cents each, it dint give me headaches some of the games were very good with 3d others like wario looked like paper cutouts floating in mid air
Your thinking of the neogeo, basicly arcade hardware in the form of a console, the mem cards were swapable with the arcade, but with the huge price for the games 200$ most people never got one, not to mention if you paid 200$ for a game why the hell would you play it at the arcade, unless your just tring the mem cards out
the funny thing about free speech is that people are free to chose how they express them selfs, is linux free as in speech, yes but so is microsoft, microsoft chose to keep thier speech closed and thats thier right. In fact I think it would be unconstitutional to force MS to OSS
actualy diamonds are abundant, its just that the ones good enough to make a ring out of are very rare , the majority of diamonds they pull out of the ground are ether too yellow or are not shaped properly making them useless for anything other then sand paper
If you go into a computer store and ask for an OEM ATI chances are you'll get a white box made by some unknown company that just took the ATIs chips and slapped them on the board , even though technicly OEM meens its made by ATI. this isn't a bad thig as 99% of the time "OEM" stuff works just as well as retail. this is more of a case of bad ATI drivers doing poor bios checking
the new nvidia drivers (40.72)for winXP are total crap, 9/10 times it will lock the system up when starting games, at least on my system,(pent4 2Ghz, Ti 4200) I'v had to install much older 30.82 drivers to play games
there is many problems with X that hopefully Fresco or any other X replacement
will solve, for example in windows,MacOS,BeOS, and I think QNX if you install
the latest Divx codec all apps will be able to use them, also things like cut
and paste that X doesn't handle, for example you cant transparently copy images
or formated Text, KDE does a OK job but you still cant cut and paste very well
to non kde apps. Lack of a built in window manager is also a pain as even the
most basic one adds lots of overhead to X

I have to ask, how the hell did you get a normal tv to run 1920x1080@30hz
its not so much a mater of need as a mater of quality, think, what if we said, whats the point of cd when we have casset tapes
