  1. Alternatives on Is the iPod Generation Going Deaf? · · Score: 1

What is the alternative, going deaf because of stupid noises that our jobs expose us to?

I'd much rather go deaf listening to The Dark Side of the Moon and my own music compositions than go deaf because of the stupid buzzer that says 'fries are done' or the one that says 'customer has entered the building' or some sort of jackhammer, or any of a million other ways that I could and will go deaf on the job. Not everyone has a cushy fairly silent cube-farm job-many jobs are downright dangerous, especially to hearing.

My hearing is not as good as it was in 1995, but it still somewhere around or above average (I had awesome hearing in 1995). Besides, if I ever lose my hearing, I'm changing my major from computer science to something like computer-science-medicine-cybernetics or just plain medicine.

Actually, to be honest, most political parties in canada don't have very much to work with. The Green Party and the new defunct Absolutely Absurd party are 'little guys' that could use some looking out for lest we end up with an american style two party "democracy."

Somehow though I doubt that the 8 of 12 political parties that are not in parliament are the worst of the telemarketer's, though.
Not that I'm saying that political parties should be able to spam phone networks -- I just don't think it's appropriate to group all the political parties together as not-underdogs.

Thermonuclear war. Get your facts straight. Within an hour every square foot of the earth's surface can be obliterated by nuclear weapons. And there's people who have been in the past willing and able to go that far--it's a miracle we've gotten this far. I know you're probably too young to remember the cold war, but back during those days everyone knew that their death-by-nuke wasn't all that far away...and the only thing that's changed since then is that back then, the world didn't have to deal with Mr. Bush with his finger on the red button.

Now, Global Warming/destruction of the ocean is important--don't get me wrong, and getting rid of nuclear weapons may never be either feasible or a good idea, but they could eradicate us, much faster than global warming can.
