"The price of ink per milliliter from the big printer shops such as Hewlett-Packard Co. and Lexmark International Inc. has been steadily rising, at about 1% a year"
That's less than inflation. And it's probably less than the average annual wage increase for workers. So while the price may be rising, the cost in relation to other goods and the cost/hr of the consumer's labor is decreasing.
Ink might be overpriced, but a 1% increase isnt very big. Compare it to vastly more important things like tuition and healthcare. Or heck, gas even.
My wife recently switched from moz to ff and imported everything. She had some problems with several sites until she redid her profile. In the end, iirc, it turned out that she had some problems with an old version of flashblock. Make sure you have 1.3.1 and dont autoupdate it.
I'm not saying people should pirate software because these companies are successfull. I'm saying that they're still very profitable even though piracy is going on.
it only comprises 4.65 percent of all email traffic? Where does this article say 25 percent???
Maybe they're not counting spam?
My mail server saw the first one on may 2nd. As of today (the 8th) at 4am, 419 were blocked. 11883 emails came into the system over that time, so about 3.5% of our traffic was sober.p. That's not 5%, but still pretty high. It shot right past virus #2: SomeFool.Gen-1.
I seem to remember serveral years ago (early athlon and p4 days) that intel was firing/retiring their costly, experienced engineers and hiring younger, cheaper college grads and non-citizens. At the same time (and earlier) AMD was hiring experienced engineers, especially people who worked on the DEC Alpha.
Assuming this is correct (memories are sometimes wrong), then what's happening now only makes sense. It might be something for people to point at when taking on the outsourcing/cost cutting fans.
Can you set up a linux box as router running a pop3 proxy and virus scanner? That's not a total solution, but if you can stop viruses from coming in on pop3, you'll take out a major chunk of them.
You missed the part about "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches..." I take it?
I guess we should just step up evangelizing other browsers. We should compare IE to paint, and other browsers (like firefox, opera, etc) to programs like photoshop and psp. If IE had under 50% market share, I'd bet 10 to 1 they'd be supporting CSS, and IE7 would have been out by now.
I write the companies website & intranet for firefox, then force my users to only use IE.
Next, I'll force them into IMAP and make them use OE.
Is it me, or does the Fox article contradict itself?
Nah, they're just being Fair and Balanced.
"I know I'll get modded down for thus but..." I can't resist:
In Saudi Arabia, the camel rides you!
In Saudi Arabia, the sand blows you!
In Saudi Arabia, the dessert eats you!
"That's a surefire way to get to 5."
we shall see, because the jokes sure arent funny enough for a 5.
And yes, spelling errors are intentional
Why can't we be called "people"?
I dont mind it too much when business calls people consumers. I DO mind it when politicians (cough GWB) call people consumers, not constituents.
Nope, pretty soon they don't check their email at all and productivity skyrockets!
so does their IQ

I doubt it. IBM's a pretty diverse company. Also, I'd guess that the Xbox 360 and PS2 will outsell macs pretty easily over the next few years.
The big software companies are doing so poorly profit wise:
Profit Margin (ttm) (from finance.yahoo.com)
MSFT: 29%
ADBE: 28%
YHOO: 24%
INTL: 22%
IBM: 9%
XOM: 8% (Exxon)
CVX: 8% (ChevronTexaco)
TM: 6% (Toyota)
BA: 3% (Boeing)
COKE: 2%

quicktime worked for me.

Al Gore invented the Internet in America.
GWB invented WMDS in Iraq.
I guess they're even.
"five year screaming, whining kids to the theaters so they can throw popcorn around and kick our seat backs."
From the way people post on movie threads lately, it's the 12 year olds kicking and screaming in the theaters.

Didn't RTFA or even TFC. But here's a mirror of a longhorn pic:

after all, it seems somehow "okay" to expose kids to violence in the states.
Violence is only ok if you promote violence against judges.

I think we all miss that.
Error 420: Funny Found
I'm a little concerned about the possible viruses which may have been dormantly sitting in this soft tissue all along.
I use thunderbird, you insensitive clod.
the funny thing is, 1/2 the people who responded to the spam were also members of the religious right.
In the US, there's already a law that if applied, could stop spammers: the 2nd ammendment.
