"I remember when I could have 6 or 7 A-HA! moments in one night." --- That was back in the days when MTV ran "Take On Me" music video in regular rotation.
So.... what happens when these scammers call someone who actually knows something about computers, or runs a Macintosh, or run Linux? Or are these scammers only targeting retirement communities, because an awful lot of people these days are computer literate. And many kids aren't even running PCs anymore, they are using tablets.
Isn't that the REAL reason for EVERY convention? Did you know that for YEARS, the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas coincided with the Adult Entertainment Expo?
Oh, you mean like how that side decided to go to war in Iraq without raising taxes to pay for it? How that side cut taxes for the rich while raising spending within the government (particularly in defense spending) with no way to pay for it? And then complain when we have a deficit? Frankly, both sides of the political spectrum are unable to plan ahead in the slightest, but the GOP position is untenable -- they are the epitome of short-sighted.
You're right; if he has nothing left to live for, he should do his best to make sure these bastards never harm anyone else again.
He should walk into their offices with an AK-47 and just start spraying bullets. He should preferably, take out all the execs and their lawyers if he can.
And you know what? The penalty he'll get for murdering 50+ people is probably less than what he's being charged with now. Chances are he'll be out in 10 years, whereas, if he accepts the fine, he'll be an economic prisoner for 90 years.
Seriously, what is the point, when every "provider" compresses the signal to the point that you already have pixellated TV, with blocky regions of color in "HD".
Consider any scene on TV in a smoke-filled room, where the actors are sitting around a table, and the light shines down from above, a blue spotlight.
Now, back in the days of NTSC, there would be a smooth graduation from the light to dark, a million shades of blue, making the whole thing appear to be smooth and natural.
Under HDTV and signal compression, I can actually count the number of digital graduations between the light and the dark, and each step in graduation has a hard edge, so you can pause the image and see the artifacts. It looks WORSE than Plain Old TV.
So, what is the point? TV isn't going to look better as we increase definition, it's going to look worse. And this is because cable/satellite providers are trying to squeeze in 1000 channels of HD, so we can watch the baking channel in HD, Or see Snooki's nose hair. Really. It's freaking pointless when TV itself is a wasteland.
I remember trying to get users at a local Amiga user group to dial in to my BBS, and many of them said at the time "No, I don't connect to a BBS 'cause I might get a virus".
I bet those same people were the first ones on the internet however, and are still running their Windows 2000 PC connected directly to the cable modem...
Ah, the good old days, when Virii were destructive. But now, with 500GB HD's being the norm, they get to be even MORE destructive. I mean, loosing a floppy with at most 800k of data on it was one thing, but a 500GB HD? Yowza, I can't wait to hear the screams.
Another committee member, Rep. Ben Waide, R-Madisonville, said he had a problem with evolution being an important part of biology standards.
"The theory of evolution is a theory, and essentially the theory of evolution is not science â" Darwin made it up," Waide said. "My objection is they should ensure whatever scientific material is being put forth as a standard should at least stand up to scientific method. Under the most rudimentary, basic scientific examination, the theory of evolution has never stood up to scientific scrutiny."

Seriously; I think some of the alternative energy things are barking up the wrong tree, but at this point, I would be willing to support any energy plan that gets us off these jerk's oil. I want to be liberated from Saudi Arabia and then bomb their fucking stuck-up, 15th century asses into the ground. The USA gives them latitude because we depend upon their oil, and all the while, they are the most restrictive country in the world. North Korea has more freedoms (if you're female), and yet the USA's focus is on every "bad" country except Saudi Arabia.
Wow, I think I have finally witnessed the last straw.
Interestingly, I attended last night, a debate at a group known as "Drinking Liberally" where the president of the local group stated that he could not vote for Obama, because the administration has a kill-list, has not been transparent, has not closed Guantanamo, and has continued many of the Bush Policies that we had hoped to change. The Woman debating him stated that NOT voting for Obama was voting for Romney who will be worse. That didn't change the mind of the group leader who said he would be voting Green Party.
Now, I am wondering myself about this in the context of this blatant attempt to subvert the law so that the 1% can get what they want, and the lawyers and politicians are clearly on the side of the 1% and not looking out for the rights of the people.
We are truly borked as nation. There's no going back from this kind of corruption. If this even goes to COURT, it's a complete breakdown of our "justice" system (and I use that term loosely.
Tell me Mr. Prosecutor; how many arrests have you made from the financial boondoggle of 2008? How many arrests have you made from the Robo-Foreclosure scandal? But you're supporting the whims of the very crooks who have robbed our nation? Why not just start working for the Mafia? I hear they pay good as well.
New app! Ok, so now Starbucks can virtually stalk me. Not that corporations don't already stalk all of us, but once that kind of data becomes accessible, Apps like "Girls Around Me" come to bear, and then we're all suddenly creeped out by the lack of privacy...
But hey, if I have to give up my privacy for a 1-second time-savings while buying a coffee, I guess we're all with it, then, eh?
And it only takes one moderately border-line wacko working at Starbucks to know the home address of the cute blonde that asked for a grande half-caf soy latte. Or the identity thief that decides that working at Starbucks is the way into everyone's retirement account.
We just had an article posted on Slashdot yesterday about some writer who's iphone, ipad and imac were wiped out because of lax security on the part of major corporations -- who allow you to tie together too many services making it easy to break everything. Now comes Starbucks, who will soon make it easy for others to use their account for other nefarious purposes.
If you're building a phone for executives ONLY, then make it a $1000 phone. These are people who drive 911's, M5's, Ferrari, or some other similarly high-end car. If these are the people willing to spend $300,000 for a top-of-the-line supercar, then they certainly should be willing to shell out $1 to 2 thousand for a phone. But it better be the best damn phone there is.
I mean, if you're paying 2k for a phone, not only should it make the iPhone look like a cheap toy, it should make almost all high-tech items look like cheap toys.
But the problem is that Apple, Samsung and HTC are all making really, really good hardware, and selling it for $200 -- a tenth of the cost. And for all of RIM's wizardry, they aren't going to beat Apple.
So, the executive who is paying enormous sums of money for a car is going to look at the Blackberry, then look at the iPhone, and still decide that the iPhone is the better product, even though it's cheaper.
RIM needs to get their act together and make some really smart decisions. Unfortunately, they are not.
But... but... you don't UNDERSTAND... The CEO is part of the 1% and DEMANDS that his losses be subsidized by the "little people" -- I mean, how else is he going to buy that gold plated yacht he had his eyes on earlier this week?
You surely do not expect a 1%'er to actually own up to his own mistakes, and gosh, maybe have to sell his 7 Lamborghinis, his 10-acre Florida Estate, and maybe 3 or 4 of his New York condos to make up that loss? The horror!
He demands a bail out from the American taxpayer. How else can he continue to be a "job creator"?
So *that* explains how it looks like he put on 100 pounds just before the RNC!
Because the fire benders wiped out all the air benders...
"Even with the approach of the launch of Apple's new shinny,..."
Is this some kind of iKnee replacement? It's a shin-bone that plays music and accesses Siri? I've never of this product.... Please advise.

Absolutely nothing of value was lost.
After all, now there's a level of rape in this country that's acceptable, and maybe she didn't really reach that yet.
Home of the free, Land of the brave?
Wow, you guys sure are a funny bunch.

Funny how the English language works too.
Because back then, the word for rape was "ravished". Today we say things like "Darling, you look ravishing", and it's accepted as a compliment.
So 500 years from now, will we say 'Darling, you look rape-able', and the lady will smile and kiss you?
Why, oh why do we keep irradiating it, cutting it out, treating it with harsh chemicals? Won't someone think of the cancer?
If you saw how many partial birth cancers are thrown out every day, you would be horrified. But because men can get cancer too, it's LEGAL to kill it.
If only men could get pregnant, then abortion would be as easy as changing your oil, or doing laundry.
I propose a constitutional amendment to save cancer from these horrific doctors. We need to start a movement.
It may have a virus on it.

Maybe Ben Waide needs to forget about this, and go back to having sex with his cousin.
Somebody needs to ask this guy why God is creating antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria.
