The MMR vaccine has not been updated to keep up with the evolution of the measles virus.

The claims for non-vaccinated is often merely, no proof of vaccination. However, most public schools require it. A few states allow for a religious exemption, which must be filed and recorded with the school.

The fact parents do not have records of vaccinations does not mean these children were not vaccinated. Most of the time they have been if they're of school age.

If the item only cost a $1, it's not a significant impact to an individual's finances. When an individual spend $400 on a brand new dishwasher, and after 90 days it no longer works. It's not as easy to go out and simply buy another one. There is an expectation that said unit would provide a number of years of reasonable working ability.

Likewise, if you spend $2,500 on a new refrigerator, one should be assured it will function a year from purchase. Even three years. You're talking about around a month income of the average American household. An average person can't afford to replace such a unit every year. There is an expectation based on the financial impact.

That could well be argued a criminal offense.

  9. We are paying 2x-3x the cost.

We used to pay good money for an American made product that would last several years. Then cheap Chinese/Asian products came on the market. They were cheap, often a 1/3 of the cost. Now you can't find those American made products. And instead, the cheap Chinese/Asian products such as dishwashers and washing machines are now more than the old American ones were. But the failure rates are thru the roof, the warranties are almost non-existent. It is so bad, every store offers you extended warranties. Most of which extend the factory 1 year to two years. And honestly, god help you if you have to actually use one of those warranties. You will discover they won't fix your problem, and when you go back to the store that sold you both the fridge and the warranty, they'll tell you it is not their problem as it is a 3rd party warranty.

    Minimum Warranty Period
      $100 = 90 days
    $100- $200 = 1 year
    $200-$500 = 2 year

I think chiropractors are mixed, and they run the gauntlet from kooks to legitimacy.

    1. I have serious issues impairing movement and causing pain. And had a chiropractor identify the muscle, and the misalignment. Work the muscle, adjust the vertebrate. Suddenly, I went from a very limited range of motion and pain to being able to move and an 80% reduction in pain.

    2. I have another chiropractor I've gone to periodically. This chiropractor takes an X-ray of all his patients. He identifies bone growths, anomalies, damage, etc. He does alignments, he also has some tools to adjust. He conducts range of motion tests. He identifies areas that are impaired. He prescribes particular exercises and stretches to improve range of movement.

So yes, chiropractic care can be very scientific and true medical care. But it can also be a lot of crap and pseudo-science.

BTW, for us programmers, one of the best exercises to alleviate a lot of my problems is to hold your head straight, and then pull back with your muscles while keeping your head level. You'll feel it stretch muscles at the very top of the neck where it connects to the base of the skull. This exercise, and just doing it a few times a day, made a tremendous difference. It helps counteract out constant staring down, up, etc. as PC users.

  14. "The trend is more communication and more attention to people."

    Where do you see this?

    I see the following...

    - Reduced Benefits, a vast number of employees find their current jobs offer less benefits, and less vacation/personal time than what they had 20 years ago.

    - Increased healthcare, sure Obamacare yada yada...but the truth is, we are now paying thousands of dollars more for healthcare. And rather than the small co-pays we had 20 years ago. We have huge deductibles plus high co-pays.

    - Corporations are determined to use every avenue toward reducing worker pay and benefits and maximizing CEO and shareholder compensation.

    - Corporations continuously lobby for a legislative environment in their favor. See recent case of Disney employees let go and illegally replaced by H1B visa holders. Judge found a kooky interpretation to dismiss the case. By that judge's interpretation, the law against doing so can never actually be used.

    - Salary has become one sided. You're required to work extra, but you get no benefits. Salaried benefits vs hourly full time workers are really no different. The flexibility that was once supposed to exist no longer does. It purely benefits the employer.

So no, I really don't see a prospect of things getting better unless we have a major turn-a-round.
