Huge not compared to anything. Huge in general. He never compared it to anything. Millions of peiople have iTunes installed - hence, huge install base
+Widely considered the best portable player made Another opinion.
Widely considered = most people think. Which is fairly true. And considering marketing is about 100% swaying ones opinion, Napster has their work cut out for htem
+DRM is fairly transparent and can easily be legally circumvented, and even more easily, well... *cough* Legally? Really? I doubt it. Besides, read a bit up about the guy who tried to get his songs from itunes after he lost them. They probably won't redownload your songs you've already paid for! In short, a "modified truth" if you will.
Yes, legally. Burn to CD, rip to computer. The iTMS DRM allows burning, and AFAIK doesn't say anything about ripping songs back to an unecrypted format.
And FYE isn't going to give me back my CDs after I lose them. So what's your point?
-Let's face it: iTMS is a fantastic idea, but about as much of a cludgy resource whore as a dolled-up media player can be It's kludge, or kluge: http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=k luge Nonetheless, I see another opinion poking through here.
You're attacking him for attacking iTunes now. Whose side are you on?
-WMA files aren't any more widely supported by the portable market than AAC, who are they trying to kid? Sure, more player models support WMA, but take away the ones that aren't even remotely competetive with the iPod and the iPod mini, and all you're really left with is the iRiver HP-120 and the Creative Zen Micro. FUD. Opinion. Shop around, the Creative and iRiver can be good products.
He didn't say the Creative and iRiver were bad products. He said that when you take away ones from companies like EasyBuy2000 and Dans House of MP3 Boxen, the only ones left that are COMPETITIVE with the iPod are the iRiver and Creative.
One CD a month at give or take $15.99/cd, over the course of a year.
You're still paying the same amount with Napster, difference is you get all the music you want, except, once you stop paying, the music goes away. So if after 14 months you have a catostrophic circumstance appear and can no longer afford $15.99/mo, then that's $220 down the drain.
If you can't buy a new CD this month, then you still get to keep your last 14 CDs.
So then we have an operating system which has zero programs, save misc Linux apps that run under OS X. But even those would have to be recompiled for x86(-64) OS X vs PPC OS X.
It's not a matter of microsoft making WMP compatible with the ipod. it's a matter of apple making the ipod compatible with WMP. every company out there, it's THEIR responsibility to make their player work with WMP. microsoft would have no time if they had to develop WMP drivers for every single mp3 player out there.
Two fingers is used specifically for scrolling quickly (e.g. tap the upper right corner of the pad, then the bottom right to get to the bottom of a page)
This is slightly different Dragging one finger across the pad acts as a normal movement moition of the pointer Dragging two fingers up/down or left/right will drag the scroll bar
notice i said correct me if im wrong. we know bush isn't funding it and i hadn't heard much of private companies contributing, which i was also corrected on.
i think part of it may be that stem cells have a stigma attached to them. because of the media hype, people think "stem cells" and immediately think "abortion"
until they can shake that stigma there won't be much progress
to everyone screaming that it's simply federal funding that's denied... i certainly don't see any private organizations jumping up to throw their money at stem cell research (unless someone can correct me on that), so aside from the money from Cali there's currently $0 being thrown at it
Ironic this news comes on the same day as the march for life in DC
The only things that don't fit neatly into those groupings are the Mini and (arguably) the iPod Photo - but the Photo is really just a 4G iPod beefed up for a color screen, and the Mini is kind of a "3.5G" iPod - it has the click wheel that wound up in the 4G.
The iPod mini and iPod photo are considered separate product lines. It's the first generation iPod photo and first generation iPod mini right now
It seems you can rip the CD to get it into your "library" but then you can't transfer them to the iPod without exiting the app and starting it up again so that it'll automatically transfer them. No context menu on the songs to say transfer now.
Point 1: You could have also disconnected and reconnected the iPod to make it resync. Or right clicked on the iPod in the source list and pressed UPDATE NOW.
Point 2: To transfer on demand, you need to set in the preferences to handle transfers manually. Then it's drag and drop.
Installation of X11 after OS X is installed typically requires the user to reboot their system with their OS X install disc, and then install the X11 support atop their existing OS X installation.
Orrrrr you can just download it from http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/x11/
Let's hope so, since driver bugs could leave you without a GUI if it relies on non-standard features.
You people seriously amaze me sometimes. Give MS a LITTLE credit. You SERIOUSLY think they'd make the OS so that you can't drop in to a low-settings GUI mode to fix a buggy graphics driver? Good lord
Oh wait, it's been there since Windows 95. It's called SAFE MODE.

gotta love the fact this is actually a feature of the OS update:
Improves the performance of Blizzard World of Warcraft's "Full Screen Glow" video feature.

No, in soviet russia, ipod shuffle makes beowulf cluster of you!
Yeah? Well back in my day we didn't even have punch cards, we just had plain ole cards.

18 live linux CDs! my computer ran 18 live linux CDs! ...in a row?
hey! try not to recompile any kernels on the way through the parking lot! hey... get back here!
If you want to find a tablet PC without a trackpad, look at the TC1100 from HP/Compaq
It has tablet mode and can pivot around to use a keyboard which has only two buttons and a clitoris/nippple/eraser.
My HS had a whole program of rolling them out to students and they're very nice machines.

apple care doesn't cover accidental insurance
two finger scrolling ability... hardware or software? hardware may prove difficult, but software should be portable/hackable to a rev C, B, or A, no?
No, it's an extra $19 investment
Have one for my powerbook
works great

1st gen: Buttons around wheel, mechanical wheel
2nd gen: Buttons around wheel, touch wheel
3rd gen: Separate touch buttons under screen, touch wheel
4th gen: Click wheel

How's your graphics card compare to a Radeon 7500 AIW?
