Considering the iPod keeps a record of maximum and minimum temperatures, if you exceed either of these and experience a HDD or battery failure I'm wondering whether you'll eat the costs of replacement.
A more in depth study also indicated that P2P users are also "big doody heads" and that the recording industry's dad could kick the P2P users dad's in a fight
some of us use them for listening to other types of audio media which sounds OK at 64kpbs - like PodCasts, etc. At least with the Dell, I have the option to use a lower encoding bitrate.
It says 220 songs, which typically implies music, which typically implies things that will sound like ass at 64kbps.
And Apple lets you use any encoding you want so I'm not sure where that statement came from...
No, it won't. Has anyone considered that if BeOS was so great in the first place it wouldn't have died? Oh wait, MS monopoly, gotta use that card, Be couldn't get their foot in the door. And if only Apple had gone with them, too...
You'd think they'd at least place these advernews stories so something relevant to the product happens when it appears instead of just being out of the blue like this.
Yeah, how hard can it be? They're already flitting their eyes around constantly, how hard is it to glance at a monitor every minute or so?
In theory, you should cover an entire pool in 15 seconds, plus do a downard head sweep to make sure no one's drowning in front of your chair out of your immediate downward angle of vision. We don't need to try to scan a monitor at the same time.
I lifeguard in a water park and part of our rotation is a 10-foot-deep pool that people drop into from a slide. Seeing the bottom of a 10 foot pool that is nearly empty is a strain, I can only imagine a 12 foot crowded pool
& as far as laptops for college? Unnecessary. I hated it when people were play solitaire in front of me while the prof was attempting to teach.
What do you care if someone wants to spend their tuition to play solitaire - it's just more jobs for you when you graduate and they don't.
I'd hardly say a laptop is unnecessary for college - I go back home every few weeks and I can't imagine having to pack up a desktop machine for the weekend.
Oh no! Not 3 years! I will never save the money to buy new rechargable batteries in THREE YEARS. And my god - those batteries must weigh what, 5, 6 oz tops? Think of the wrist strain. And I'd hardly say putting it in a cradle is something hard to remember.
i talk to all my friends on IM. i rarely ever use the phone, unless I'm out which is when I'll use my cell for a quick "hey where are you when are you getting here" if we're coordinating a get-together someplace. i hate talking on the phone.
i use email to talk to professors, club leaders, parents and relatives while at school, etc...
Apple has been using the ITMS store as a loss leader to sell ipods, but there will come a day when the IPOD market becomes saturated. Instead of republishing meaningless Apple PR on Slashdot, perhaps a more interesting discussion would be, how will Apple make money of its music business when the MP3 player market has reached saturation?
We'll go back to the articles on how Apple will be filing chapter 11 next week and be bought by MS the following week.
Maybe this guy doesn't want to download illegally

While they haven't said it's legal to bittorrent TV shows, they haven't said it's illegal

Any source for this tidbit?
Our college station uses Win 98 for our Dalet workstations, it works, it's not vulnerable, and it can stay up for months w/o a reboot.

Why would i switch from my iChat or Jabber name to my gmail one?
Because if I wanted to use Jabber I'd trust talk.google.com a helluvalot more than makhmud.no-ip.com
A TV or even a VCR? Holy crap man is it 1987?

Slasdot has standards???
can we see them?
Open source good.
Apple good.
DRM bad.
---Unless it's Apple DRM, then DRM good.
Microsoft bad.
Patriot Act/DMCA bad.
Linux good.
SCO bad.
AMD chips are like a big ole Mack truck. they suck up a lot of juice, but they can hold their own hauling a big load.
Intels are like a little fiat. You're not gonna tow a boat up a hill with it, but damn can it be zippy.

Tel... tele... teleph.... no, sorry, doesn't ring a bell.
OH! WAIT! That's what we used to get online to use IMs before cable, that's it.
I mean how many people do you think would like to run OSX on a cheap Dell pc?
Not enough to justify the loss of Mac sales.
How many people do you think would like to run Windows or Linux on a cool looking mac?
We'll find out next year.
it was a former nasa crewmember, commenting on his thoughts during one of his own launches
However, I noticed a few niggles
The term is Neglo-American
Why burn them to disc and rerip them to get rid of the DRM? Run them through jHymn.
The non-DRMed CDs were created in the 80s. By time digital piracy rolled around in the mid 90s it was far too late to easily change the CD standard.
