Bad reason: "the only reason OS X doesn't have as many viruses as Windows is because it's not as popular". This one has been disproved a bunch of times, but it's still a popular meme among Microsoft apologists.
I always shoot that reason down. Simply because it's touted so much, if that were really the case there's some exper virus writer who would pick up a cheapo used Mac and get coding on a virus
Any app that can run on a G3 (with some exceptions) can run on an OS X86 Mac in emulation.
Seriously people, stop calling it OS X86. Besides the fact it sounds retarded, X is a roman numeral, 10. It's not "OS 10 86" it's still OS X, compiled for x86
Releasing a version of OSX that runs on standard x86 hardware should allow Apple to be in direct competition with Windows
This statement is making the assumption that Apple WANTS to be in direct competition to MS. Apple is more in competition with Dell and Gateway than it is MS.
The line in the 'about' box said 'Pentium 4-processor', and the '-' was in the wrong place - it should have said 'Pentium-4 processor', but it *was* a pre-production machine for developers only... this audience is supposed to have a clue...
John Kheit followed up his MacObsorne article - which others have since covered (minus the parts detailing Steve Jobs' uncanny ability to repeat his own mistakes) - with a scathing editorial, damning the most of the Mac Press, Apple's managment and parts of the user base, as "a bunch of deranged goose-stepping lemmings that are ignoring the costs associated with the Mac PPC to Intel switch."
We should also hope that Rosetta is capable of helping OS X for Intel to run classic OS 9 applications.
Steve to developers in 2002: OS 9 is dead, stop developing for it. Steve in 2003: You should all be developing for OS X now, OS 9 is dead. Steve in 2005: Develop under OS X Xcode, OS 9 is long dead Steve in 2006: I mean it, seriously, just stop already Steve in 2007: WTF is wrong with you people, stop developing for OS 9 already.
So they say Rosetta won't run OS 9 apps... isn't it time Classic is laid to rest once and for all? You need to step forward at some point.
Rule 5 Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger flipping; they called it opportunity.
you may think you're so incredibly talented, but trust me, there are a million other high school kids out there who think the same thing.
most places aren't even interested in college students with less than 60 credits for internships, let alone a high school student. no offense, but they're stereotypically unreliable, not to mention not fully mature yet.
suck it up, get a cushy job like i do at a water park (or a sucky job folding shirts at sears like i had before), enjoy it while you finish HS and college, then go look for a real job.
HAHAHAHAHA... lemme guess, they were using their CDROM for a cup holder too? and they thought their printer wasn't working cause it wasn't under a window? did you tell them to send it back and say they were too stupid to own a computer?
But my post must have been good, since I managed to piss off the Apple fanatic and the Intel fanboy.
You didn't piss me off. Everyone seems to think the mini is incapable of SVIDEO which isn't true - it's just an extra accessory. In fact, before the mini there wasn't even a DVI>SVID adapter, just a mini-DVI>SVID to use on the powerbooks
in 1999 when Dialpad was the rage, we went out and bought a telephone handset. It was packaged with a cable that had RJ-11 on one end and mic/speaker miniplugs on the other. What's the big deal here?
I'm still trying to explain to some of the people I have to support "LOGOFF" and "TURN OFF COMPUTER" are accessed by clicking the START button
1996 called, they want their whining back. if these people haven't figured out where these things are by now perhaps they shouldn't be using computers.
Yeah, that whole downloading a file and copying it to a folder automatically (the widget bar folder) because running "safe" files was enabled by Safari by default. The horror. That just brought my Mac to its knees... oh, wait, it was fixed in 10.4.1 and even without 10.4.1 you can just uncheck that box in Safari.
If portions of the OS reside in ROM then explain to me:
How I can upgrade my OS
and
How PearPC, which contains no Apple code, can run OS X.
Boot ROMs havent existed for quite some time in Apple machines

Actually, they're sold to anyone with a select or premiere ADC membership, and have to be returned at the end of 2006

If Windows compatibility is so grand, explain to me why I still boot into 98 to play games?
I'm not sure, most of my games before I switched to Mac ran just fine under XP
Conclusion: It's going to be a tough year to be a Mac owner.
No, it's going to be a rough year to be a potential Mac buyer.
Those of us who own them already can sit here and enjoy the fireworks.

Looks to me like there's no hyphen at all.

I still don't understand why Apple users care so much about which processor is in their system.
We're no better or worse than the Intel vs AMD crowd
The articles are all sketchy on details
Will the Apple Macs run Windows?
Will OS X run on a Dell PC?
Their software has never been half bad.
It's never been half good either.

Yeah, right. Who enforces that an 'adult site' goes into this TLD? Does vacation pics taken at a nude beach count?
.coms arent nessecarily restricted to commercial organizations and .org isn't restricted to non-profits.
.gov or .edu
I'd wager no one, juts as
this isn't another

So basically it's the same old copy writing jobs, except now they're throwing a buzzword in the ad?
Wouldn't it be more practical to attempt to use a high gain antenna to ride a public hotspot in this case?
If there's no broadband in the area what may I ask will the hotspot be connected to?

They didn't even take advantage of the Mac Mini's one missing feature - S-Video out.
Mac mini: $500 (give or take)
DVI to SVIDEO adapter for Mac mini: $19
Posting this for the 30000th time: Priceless
I can't run Safari 2.0 on anything below Tiger and no one's up in arms.
I thought we hated IE, why are we mad people won't be able to use the latest version. Do we hate or love MS today?

I remember when NPR used to tout itself as commercial free. I haven't heard them say that for years, and I listen regularly.
My local NPR station still bills itself as "Commercial free Brookdale Public Radio 90.5 The Night"
Although during pledge time "commercial free" and "member supported" are used interchangably.
I also enjoy their liner "radio worth listening to"

Think about that nasty widget security flaw
